Chapter 212 Even If You Let Me Go
Chapter 212 Even If You Let Me Go
"Ava, you really have a way with him. Dad listens to you the most. He wouldn't listen to any of us," Ursa walked over with a smile.
Ava smiled slightly, "Mrs. Thomas..."
"What Mrs. Thomas?" Ursa's face turned serious. "Didn't you two remarry? Why are you still calling me Mrs. Thomas?"
Ava blinked gently, pressed her lips together, and called out softly in her clear, gentle voice, "Mom!"
"That's more like it. You remarried and still call me Mrs. Thomas? I won't have it." Ursa took Ava's hand, and Ava felt something cool on her wrist. Looking down, she saw a vivid emerald jade bracelet resting there.
The emerald jade bracelet was entirely emerald green, crystal clear, with excellent translucency and absolutely flawless. Without even considering anything else, just from the color alone, you could tell this was a treasure among treasures, priceless.
"This is too valuable."
Ursa pressed Ava's hand back down. "Keep it. Your grandmother gave this to me, and now I should give it to you."
This emerald jade bracelet should have been given to Ava eight years ago.
Ava's clear eyes flickered, and she pressed her lips together. Hearing Ursa say this, she understood the significance of this emerald jade bracelet and didn't refuse again.
"I did handle some things poorly before. Don't hold it against me. I hope you and Joshua will be good to each other from now on." Ursa patted Ava's hand earnestly.
Ava looked up at Joshua. Joshua didn't speak, his deep eyes watching this scene with a warm smile.
Ava smiled gently, gripping Ursa's hand, her bright eyes soft and clear. "Thank you, Mom. We will."
Ursa nodded with satisfaction.
She had always been biased against Ava before, so no matter how well Ava did, she couldn't see it.
But now, the more she looked at Ava, the more she liked her. The more she saw her standing with Joshua, the more perfect they seemed together.
......
Joshua had an international conference that evening, so Ava planned to go back to her room to take a bath first, then spend time with the two little ones.
Ava came out of the bathroom in a light-colored nightgown and noticed two small lumps on the bed, with two little things wiggling around under the covers.
The room was quiet, and Ava could even hear Finn and Cleo's hushed whispers.
A smile flashed in Ava's eyes, and she shook her head helplessly, really not knowing what to do with these two little treasures.
As Ava walked to the bed, she said, "It's really boring being alone. I wonder if there are any little treasures who could keep me company."
"We will!"
The covers suddenly flew open and two adorable little ones popped out.
Ava laughed and tickled Cleo. "Caught two little treasures! Why are my little treasures here?"
"Of course we came to sleep with Mommy. Is that okay?"
"Of course it's okay." Except someone was going to be upset.
Just as Ava expected, Joshua quickly finished his meeting, planning to spend time with his wife, only to look down and see the two little ones on the bed. He frowned.
"You two, go back to your own room."
"No, we're not leaving. Mommy, save us."
Feeling the cold air sweeping from beside her, Ava smiled helplessly. "Joshua..."
"No."
"No no, we want to sleep with Mommy." Finn protested, and Cleo wasn't far behind, clinging to the bed.
The two children looked at Ava pitifully. How could Ava bear to refuse those pitiful little eyes? "Sleep with Mommy, sleep here. Don't mind him."
Finn stuck his tongue out at Joshua's gloomy face.
Acting like "Ava agreed, so what are you going to do about it?"
"Come on Joshua, if they want to sleep here, let them sleep here."
Joshua was silent.
Ava tugged at Joshua's hand, lifted her head and gently kissed his firm jaw. "Be good. Just let them off this time, stop fussing."
Joshua's eyes flickered. He lowered his head to kiss her deeply, but Ava raised her hand to stop him.
"Stop right there."
Joshua frowned slightly, glanced at the two little ones on the bed, and finally gave in.
When Joshua came out after his shower, Ava and the two children were already asleep. Joshua kissed Ava's forehead. Since both sides of Ava were occupied by Finn and Cleo, Joshua was forced to sleep next to Finn.
With Finn lying in the middle, Joshua couldn't hold Ava even if he wanted to. He clenched his jaw in exasperation, then pulled the covers up to tuck all three of them in.
In the middle of the night, because Joshua was warm, Finn kept burrowing toward him.
Joshua disdainfully moved Finn's foot off his stomach, and the next moment a hand swung up and landed squarely on Joshua's face.
Joshua took a deep breath, tightened his jaw, and held his breath as he put that hand back in place.
Finn was really too much.
Sleeping here not only prevented him from holding Ava, but his sleeping posture was terrible too. If he let them sleep here again tomorrow, he wouldn't be called Joshua.
In the morning, Ava and the two children went downstairs for breakfast well-rested and energetic, but didn't see Joshua.
Ava looked around the living room and asked a servant, "Did Joshua go to work?"
"Mr. Thomas probably hasn't gone to work yet. We haven't seen him come down this morning."
Ava drank a couple of sips of porridge, frowned slightly, stood up thoughtfully, prepared a bowl of porridge and carried it upstairs toward the study.
When she pushed the door open, Joshua was sitting in his executive chair with his legs elegantly crossed, with a pile of reviewed documents beside him.
Joshua didn't look up, instinctively thinking it was a servant coming in to clean. After two seconds, he still looked up alertly.
Meeting Ava's gaze, Joshua discreetly restrained the gloom in his eyes, put down the document in his hand, and looked up at the woman walking toward him.
"Why didn't you sleep a bit longer?"
Ava looked Joshua over, her eyes falling on the pile of documents he'd finished reviewing. "What time did you get up?"
"Five o'clock."
Ava pressed her lips together, placed the porridge on the desk, looked at the dark circles under Joshua's eyes, and asked with concern, "Didn't you sleep well last night?"
Joshua raised his hand, and Ava naturally placed her hand in his palm.
