Chapter 148: Worse Than a Dog

Chapter 148: Worse Than a Dog

Mia rolled her eyes at them triumphantly and snuggled into the man's arms, acting all spoiled and arrogant like she owned the place. "Honey, you have to teach them a lesson for me."

Without his sunglasses blocking the view, the man's gaze fell even more directly on Ava. He slowly curved his lips into an ambiguous, cold smile.

Ava narrowed her eyes and stared back at the man coldly. She felt like she'd seen him somewhere before, but couldn't remember where no matter how hard she tried.

Mia clenched her teeth hard, watching Will not only look at Ava but smile at her too.

Mia suddenly had a bad feeling.

Ava's biggest advantage was that seductive, perfect face of hers.

Mia was incredibly jealous of that face.

And seeing Ava staring straight back at Will, Mia's mouth instantly burned with raging fury.

This woman was always seducing men wherever she went.

Enough was enough.

Mia let go of Will's hand, quickly stepped forward, and slapped Ava hard across the face.

Ava noticed Mia coming and turned her face to the side, but it was too fast to dodge completely. The slap still landed on her jaw. Although she'd turned away and deflected most of the force, her face still went numb with pain.

"What are you doing?" Finn's eyes instantly turned cold.

Ava stood there, her gaze colder than ever.

"I'm going to beat this slut to death for seducing men, this whore who throws herself at everyone she meets."

Just as Mia's hand was about to come down again, Ava raised her hand, but another large hand grabbed Mia's wrist first and flung it away.

A strong arm wrapped around Ava's slender body, eyes full of darkness glaring at Mia.

Joshua's move wasn't gentle. Mia stumbled a couple of times and fell straight to the ground.

Joshua frowned, asking nervously, "Are you okay?"

Ava's eyes were full of anger.

In the bright light, Joshua could clearly see an obvious handprint on Ava's face.

Clear and glaring.

Joshua's hands clenched tight, his handsome face instantly darkening like storm clouds. He ground his back teeth, endless coldness gathering between his brows, and coldly gestured with his hand.

Samuel immediately came forward with the bodyguards, one on each side pressing down on Mia's shoulders.

Mia's whole body was shaking. "You? What are you doing? Will, save me."

Mia called out loudly to Will for help. Even if he was disgusted with her and didn't care about her, she was still his woman in public.

If she was beaten in front of everyone and lost face, he'd lose face too. He couldn't just stand there and watch her get hit—that would be like slapping his own face.

Mia kept calling out to Will, "Will, save me, save me..."

Mia kept crying out for Will's help.

But Will's eyes were cold. He glanced at her coldly, then moved his gaze back to Ava's face.

Damn it.

Was he so fascinated by Ava's face that he couldn't look away?

Two slapping sounds rang out, and the bodyguards released Mia.

Mia clutched her face tightly. The numb pain spread across her face like a dense web, and she felt her face swelling up instantly.

Being hit in front of so many people, Mia felt utterly humiliated.

Joshua glanced at her coldly, like a demon crawling out of hell. "Who gave you permission to hit her?"

"I... she was the one seducing men first. She deserved it." Mia said viciously.

"Very good." Joshua's deep eyes narrowed, his violent energy spreading like flames.

No remorse!

Joshua strode forward and grabbed Mia's shoulder, but then a hand gripped his.

Joshua looked up coldly. "What? You looking to get hit too?"

Will looked at Mia lying on the ground with complete indifference. A flash of coldness crossed his eyes as he looked directly at Joshua standing there with a stern expression.

He sneered, "Mr. Thomas, you have to look at the owner before beating the dog. Is it really okay for you to beat my pet right in front of me?"

Dog!

He actually compared her to a dog.

So in his eyes, she was just a dog.

Joshua's eyes were filled with cold intent. "If it's an animal, it should be kept on a leash when going out. Since you can't control your pet, I don't mind helping you discipline it properly."

Will curved his lips coldly and pulled Mia behind him. "No need. I'll discipline her properly when I get home. No need to trouble Mr. Thomas."

Joshua's coldness was severe. "And stop staring at my wife, or I'll gouge out your eyes."

Will nonchalantly put his hands in his pockets, his lips curved in a sinister cold smile.

Will patted Mia's head, really like he was patting a dog. "I'll take this animal home and discipline her properly. I guarantee she won't come out and bite people again."

Then he looked at Ava once more. "Ms. Davis, I'm very sorry. I'll come apologize in person later."

Ava's lips curved coldly, but she said nothing.

Mia was shaking like she was going crazy.

A dog.

They actually compared her to a dog.

Damn them!

Will unceremoniously yanked Mia up. "You're really not obedient."

Mia trembled. Every look, every expression Will gave her filled her with fear, sent chills through her entire body.

Mia was thrown into the car by Will.

"Oh, by the way." Will turned back coldly to look at Ava. "Ms. Davis, do you know me?"

Ava's eyes narrowed slightly, staring at Will's face with its scar. It seemed like some memory was returning, but then it all vanished like smoke.

Finally, Ava shook her head firmly. "I don't know you."

"Haha." Will laughed.

The laughter was desolate and sarcastic. "You really are a heartless woman. But it doesn't matter. As long as I remember you."

Ava clenched her fists tight, a chill rising from deep inside her.

Mia was dragged by her hair back to the bedroom by Will and thrown hard to the ground. Before Mia could beg for mercy, Will grabbed her by the throat, his killing intent running wild.

"Haven't I told you not to touch Ava, not to touch Ava, not to touch Ava? Why won't you listen?"

"What did that slap mean? I can't even bear to touch her, so what gives you the right to hit her?" Will's hand tightened suddenly.

Mia gripped Will's hand tightly with both hands, but couldn't budge it at all.

"Help... help me... I won't dare again, I really won't dare... please let me go, I swear, I won't touch Ava again, I really won't touch her, let me go..."

Mia's face kept turning red then purple as she desperately begged Will.

But Will still showed no sign of letting go. Mia felt death approaching her constantly.

Will's face pressed against her ear. "Remember, I don't care what trouble you cause, but don't hurt her, or I'll kill you."

Will suddenly released Mia.

Mia lay on the ground, greedily breathing in air.

She clenched her hands, her nails digging deep into her flesh.

Why did everyone protect Ava? Why did everyone seem obsessed with protecting her?

Joshua was like this.

Gilbert was like this.

Now even Will was like this.

What made her so special?

Joshua bent his finger and lifted Ava's chin, carefully examining the fingerprints on her jaw. The sharp nails had even broken her smooth skin, with tiny drops of blood making it look even more shocking.

Joshua clicked his tongue in frustration and asked gently, "Does it hurt?"

"It's okay."

Joshua smiled helplessly. "Shouldn't most women throw themselves into their man's arms when they're wronged, crying and asking for protection? Why don't you ever do that?"

"If I don't cry to you, does that mean you won't protect me?" Ava looked up at him, her eyes smiling.

"Of course not."

"Or do you prefer that fake, affected type?"

Ava stared intently at Joshua.

Joshua's sexy Adam's apple moved up and down, and a few low laughs escaped his deep voice. "No, I only like you."
