Chapter 145 Joshua Was Interrupted Again
Finn and Cleo came out but didn't see Joshua and Ava. After searching around the house, the doorbell rang.
Finn glanced at the security camera by the door and saw it was Isabella. He quickly opened the door to let her in.
"Isabella," Finn called out happily.
"My little darlings, I missed you so much." Isabella hugged the two children and planted big kisses on their faces.
Then she looked around the house but couldn't find Ava, so she asked, "Where's Ava?"
Finn shook his head, indicating he didn't know.
Isabella's gaze fell on the tightly closed bedroom door.
Outside, bright sunshine streamed through the glass windows, filling the room with light.
In the quiet room, the sound of rustling clothes could be heard.
Ava was completely swept away by Joshua. Her button-up pajamas had been removed, and she was held in his arms, unconsciously following his rhythm.
Falling deeper step by step.
His kisses kept landing on her body. He kissed Ava's forehead, his burning gaze fixed on her face as he asked in a hoarse voice, "Can I?"
Ava bit her lower lip, her eyes trembling, hands resting on his shoulders.
After a moment's thought, she leaned forward and took the initiative to kiss Joshua's lips.
Joshua's eyes froze for a moment, then surged with wild joy.
She was telling him with her actions: yes.
He kissed her lips even more forcefully, wishing he could meld her into his very bones.
Their clothes were completely removed.
Joshua pulled the woman deep into his embrace. Ava clung to Joshua, letting him have his way.
Ava had nowhere to retreat...
"Ava, are you in the room?"
Ava's eyes flew open, about to push Joshua away.
But it was too late.
"Fuck!" Isabella closed the door and stood frozen in place, completely at a loss.
What did she just see...
There were two people under the covers, one was Ava.
And another man!
Who was it!
No matter who it was!
What had she just done!
She had barged right in!
And then...
"...Ava, I really didn't mean to."
Having interrupted Ava's intimate moment, Isabella felt terribly guilty.
Ava pushed Joshua off her and pulled the blanket up to her neck.
What had she done!
She and Joshua had been so close to...
Joshua said, "I..."
"Don't say anything!" came a muffled voice from under the blanket.
The most frustrated was Joshua - interrupted again! Interrupted again! Interrupted again!
Ava was completely out of the mood now. She wrapped herself in a blanket and rushed to the bathroom, coming out in a fresh set of clothes.
Joshua was already dressed, but his face was so cold that even the warm sunshine couldn't thaw the ice on it.
Ava looked at Joshua's cold expression, feeling utterly helpless.
"Can you get a different best friend?" Joshua asked in a low voice.
"..."
Isabella, who had just offended Joshua, was sitting in the living room trembling.
With Isabella outside, Ava couldn't hide in the room forever.
Ava didn't know how to calm Joshua's explosive anger.
Ava awkwardly walked out of the room, with Joshua following close behind.
Isabella was curled up in a corner of the sofa, trembling, holding the two children. On the large TV screen in front of them, a cartoon was playing.
Laughter came from the TV. Isabella felt like that laughter was mocking her upcoming misery.
A strange chill spread through the air.
She didn't need to look to know what kind of terrifying expression was on Joshua's face.
The bone-chilling cold kept seeping into her skin, making her feel like she was in the dead of winter.
"Isabella?" Ava called out softly to Isabella.
Isabella covered her face with both hands, peeking at Ava through a gap, but she didn't know what to say. Without thinking, she blurted out, "You guys finished so quickly?"
As soon as she said it, Isabella wanted to donate her mouth away.
A freezing glare swept toward her.
Isabella panicked, "I... Mr. Thomas, I'm not saying you're quick..."
Forget it, stop struggling!
"I hope next time you're having sex with your boyfriend, someone suddenly interrupts you too," Joshua said with deep resentment.
That was so mean.
Ava said awkwardly, "It's lunchtime now, I'll... I'll go buy groceries..."
Sabrina poked her head out from the kitchen, "Ms. Davis, I already bought the groceries..."
Ava shot her a look.
Sabrina decided it was best to shut up.
"Joshua, don't you need to go back to the office? You should go now, I won't keep you for lunch."
"You won't keep me, but you'll keep her?"
Joshua looked at Isabella like she was his sworn enemy.
Suddenly mentioned, Isabella jumped up, "I'll leave, I'll leave!"
Isabella grabbed her bag and ran off, "Ava, I'll come find you later."
Ava felt helpless, rubbing her forehead as she looked at Joshua. "Why don't you leave first too."
Ava felt that the atmosphere was incredibly awkward for the two of them to be together right now.
Everyone needed to cool down first.
Joshua, kicked out, returned to the office where everyone was suffering, complaining bitterly.
Ava thought about it and called Isabella back.
Isabella poked her head out at the door sneakily, "Is Joshua gone?"
Ava nodded, "He's gone."
Only then did Isabella dare to straighten up and come out. She hugged Ava, "Ava, I really know I was wrong. I didn't mean to interrupt you guys having sex."
Ava closed her eyes heavily, "Maybe you should just leave."
Isabella shut up and made a zipping motion over her mouth.
"Ava, can you tell me what's going on between you and Joshua now?" Isabella looked at Ava curiously, blinking. "Did you two get back together?"
When she saw Joshua, besides being scared, her other thought was whether Ava had fallen for him again.
"Sort of."
"Did you remarry?"
"No, we're just boyfriend and girlfriend." Ava put a piece of apple in her mouth.
"Boyfriend and girlfriend? You two were married eight years ago and now you're doing the young people dating thing?" Isabella's jaw nearly dropped.
Ava stuffed a strawberry into Isabella's gaping mouth.
She said nonchalantly, "Why not?"
"Sure, sure, as long as you two are happy. Joshua has really changed now." Whether it was when Ava was in trouble or when Cleo was in danger, Isabella had truly seen Joshua's transformation toward Ava.
The love in his eyes couldn't be faked.
Isabella knew they had two children together, and children needed a complete family.
She wanted Ava to be happy.
So if Ava and Joshua really got to the point of remarrying, Isabella would support it.
After the four of them finished lunch, they prepared to go out shopping. Staying home all the time was too boring.
They went to a clothing store on the second floor and found the children's section. Ava mainly wanted to come out to buy clothes for Finn and Cleo.
Looking at these little outfits, Ava felt like every piece would suit her children perfectly.
Mainly because Finn was handsome and Cleo was beautiful, and when those two little faces smiled, they captured the hearts of the shop assistants.
Ava picked out quite a few items for them. Coming out of one store meant buying lots of things, so for convenience, they could only leave them at the stores for now and pick them up later.
After buying clothes for the kids, the four of them headed to the jewelry section.
Shopping was definitely something every girl loved.
Speaking of coincidences in this world, there really were many. Ava and Isabella were picking out jewelry when a hand reached over and snatched the necklace right out of Ava's hand.
Ava's brow furrowed. She looked up to see Mia standing nearby with Lyra beside her, followed by four bodyguards carrying her things.
Quite an entourage.
A strange look flashed in Ava's eyes. Even during the Wilson family's most prosperous times, she'd never seen Mia with such a grand display.
"This necklace is so beautiful." Mia held the necklace up to her neck.
"Yes, Mia, this necklace looks absolutely gorgeous on you." Lyra fawned over her.
Mia nodded with satisfaction. "I'll take it. Wrap it up for me."
Isabella rolled her eyes and said coolly, "Mia, Ava saw this necklace first. Ever heard of first come, first served?"
Mia turned to look at Ava, raising her eyebrows provocatively. "What do you mean she saw it first? This necklace is in my hands, so it's mine."
Ava's delicate eyebrows drew together. She reached out and took the necklace back from Mia's hand, handing it to the sales associate. "Wrap it up."
The sales associate was in a difficult position, seeing two ladies fighting over one necklace.
Finn spoke up, "Miss, my mommy saw this necklace first."
Only then did the sales associate react, nodding. "Alright, please wait a moment."
"You better think carefully. The person in front of you is Mrs. Howard. Are you sure you want to offend the Howard family for this woman?" Lyra said shrilly.
The sales associate froze.
Of course she knew about a major family like the Howard family. If this person was from the Howard family, she absolutely couldn't afford to offend her.
She thought for a moment, then turned to Ava. "Miss, why don't you look at some other styles?"
Mia smiled smugly at Ava.
Ava's brow furrowed slightly. "I want this one. Please wrap it up."
The sales associate was really in a bind, but she absolutely didn't dare offend the Howard family.
Although this lady in front of her was dressed nicely, she clearly couldn't compare to the Howard family.
So her voice became firmer. "Miss, I'm sorry, but Mrs. Howard has taken a liking to this necklace."
"You're being such a snob," Isabella said with a cold laugh.
"What are you doing? Mia saw it first." Lyra's voice was sharp.
"Mia, what's going on?" Thea walked over from the other side, hearing the commotion. Seeing Ava, she smiled. "Ava, you're here too."
"Thea, look at this necklace on me. Does it look good?" Mia smiled brightly and charmingly.
Thea's brow furrowed. She glanced at Mia's necklace, then shifted her gaze imperceptibly to Ava, understanding everything. She smiled. "It looks good."
"It's ugly."
Finn said suddenly from where he sat.
"Hahaha, Finn's right." Isabella laughed.
Mia was so angry she gritted her teeth. She threw the necklace to the sales associate. "Just wrap it up for me anyway. What I like is mine. You like it? Can you even afford it? This one costs over a hundred thousand dollars. You?"
Ava was just a doctor at the hospital and had to raise two children. Where would she get the nerve to buy a necklace worth hundreds of thousands of dollars in one go?
Finn patted Isabella beside him, signaling her to lower her head. After hearing what Finn said, Isabella was stunned. "My dear little darling, you're giving me a chance to redeem myself."
Isabella immediately pulled out her phone, entered the phone number Finn gave her, and added a note (This is Isabella, here to redeem myself, about Ava).
The next second, it was approved immediately.
Isabella...
She quickly sent a message: Joshua, I'll video call you so you can see Ava, but don't make a sound.
Joshua replied: Okay.
Very much in line with Joshua's personality.
Isabella turned her phone volume to the lowest, then video called Joshua.
Joshua answered instantly. Isabella pointed the camera at Ava.
Lyra sneered. "Can't afford it, but still putting on airs here. How ridiculous."
"Mia, you shouldn't talk like that. Since Ava saw it first, just let her have it. It's just a necklace, no need to make a fuss." Thea frowned, trying to mediate kindly.
Ava's cold gaze swept toward her, eyebrows raised.
"Fine, if she can afford it, I'll be generous and let her have this necklace." Mia looked at Ava with a disdainful sneer.
The sales associate had heard everything these ladies said. From their conversation, she could tell that this lady had no money at all, so she couldn't afford it. People who couldn't afford things but wasted her time were the most annoying.
The sales associate didn't go to wrap it up. Instead, she asked Ava, "Miss, this necklace costs eighty-nine thousand dollars. Our store doesn't accept credit. If you want it, you must pay in full. Can you afford this amount?"
Ava heard the sarcasm in the sales associate's words.
Mia burst out laughing, covering her mouth delicately. "Ms. Davis, even if you sold yourself right now, you couldn't get eighty-nine thousand dollars, right? How ridiculous. Ms. Davis, if I were you, I'd never shop at luxury brands again, because you can't afford it. It's embarrassing."
"Hahahaha, Mia, I think she's never shopped at luxury brands before, so she has no idea about the prices. That's why she's making a fool of herself here." Lyra joined in the laughter.
The sales associate immediately said, "I'm sorry, miss, but we're not selling this necklace to you. Please don't waste our time here."
She would never offend Mia and her friends for some broke person.
Isabella, Finn, and Cleo were all furious, but Ava gave them a calm look and held them back.
Thea stood by quietly listening, a cold smile forming imperceptibly at the corner of her mouth. "Mia, don't talk like that. What if Ava really can afford it?"
"Thea, you just got back, so you don't know this woman. How could she possibly have money to buy these luxury items? How ridiculous." Mia continued laughing.
Ava's eyes were ice cold.
"How did you decide I can't afford it?" Her gaze swept to the sales associate.
"I see people like you who browse but don't buy every day. I can tell at a glance. There's no need for you to keep pestering us. We're not selling to you, and that's final." The sales associate was extremely firm in her position.
The sales associate's words successfully pleased Mia. Mia smiled. "Since you can't afford it, this necklace is mine. Wrap it up for me, and help me pick out some other jewelry while you're at it."
The sales associate immediately went to wrap it up, respectfully packaging it and handing it to Mia. "Mrs. Howard, it's all wrapped up."
Ava reached out and grabbed the wrapped necklace, slapping it on the counter, her face showing no trace of a smile. "Go get your store manager."
