Chapter 14 Be My Student
Ursa looked at Mia's delicate figure, her eyes full of emotion. Mia was truly so kind, worthy of being her daughter-in-law.
"Mia." Ursa walked over and called her softly.
Mia carefully put down the stethoscope, stood up and looked at Ursa with gentle eyes. Ursa smiled kindly and took Mia's hand.
Seeing this, Mia knew she had heard what she just said. A triumphant smile flickered in Mia's heart.
"Mia, thank you for your hard work." Ursa gently patted Mia's hand.
"Mrs. Thomas, it's not hard at all. As long as Grandpa can get better, I won't feel it's hard no matter what."
"Good child."
Coming in with Ursa was a famous old professor that Xavier had just brought back, Barry Myers, who had extremely high prestige in the medical field and mainly researched cardiac surgery.
Barry sat down solemnly beside them, closed his eyes, placed his hand on Victor's, and examined Victor.
Nearly half a minute passed before Barry opened his eyes, a trace of doubt and surprise showing in them.
He looked at the steady heartbeat on the nearby monitor and stood up. "Victor's heartbeat is even and much stronger. His condition has clearly improved."
"But before, all the doctors said Grandpa was about to..." Ursa stopped mid-sentence and looked at Mia. "Mia, did you do something?"
"I..."
Mia paused, glancing at Joshua who had just walked in. Her heart stirred. Just now it was only her and Ava in the room, and Victor didn't see who treated him.
So why couldn't it be her!
Even if Ava said she was the one who saved Victor, she was just a dropout who hadn't even finished school. Compared to herself, a famous doctor who studied abroad, who would believe her?
What's more, the Thomas family had always trusted her.
There was no reason why she couldn't be the one who saved Victor.
Thinking this way, Mia felt much better.
In response to Ursa's question, she smiled slightly and nodded gently. "I just thought of a new treatment plan, and surprisingly it worked. Grandpa's heartbeat is back to normal."
"Really? Does this mean Grandpa can be saved?"
Mia paused. She controlled her expression well and said firmly, "Yes, Grandpa can be saved."
"Mrs. Thomas, who is this?" Barry looked at Mia with a trace of appreciation and asked.
"I forgot to introduce you. Barry, this is my father's attending physician, Mia. Mia, this is Barry."
"Mr. Myers!" Mia looked at Barry excitedly.
Barry's name was known to everyone in the medical field - he was a legend.
His medical skills were extremely brilliant. He was just over sixty and had been retired for many years. So many people in the medical field wanted to learn from him but were rejected. She never expected to actually meet Barry.
"Mr. Thomas's heartbeat is not only stable but also strong. His condition has greatly improved. Who taught you your medical skills?"
"Mr. Myers, I studied abroad before, and some of it I learned by reading medical books on my own."
"Do you have a teacher?"
Mia shook her head. "No."
"Would you like to be my student?"
Mia looked at Barry in disbelief, too excited to speak. "Really, is it really possible?"
"Yes, you're a rare talent. With proper training, you'll definitely achieve great things."
"Thank you, thank you Mr. Myers." Mia never expected such a surprising bonus. This made her completely forget that she had stolen Ava's achievement.
That Barry was willing to take Mia as a student showed how skilled Mia was.
Hearing this, Ursa looked at Mia with even more affection.
"Mia, thank you. You're a great benefactor to the Thomas family. Joshua, don't you think so?"
Joshua didn't see Ava anywhere, and his eyes looked a bit dark, but with Victor's condition improving, his heart relaxed a little. Since Mia saved Victor, she was naturally the Thomas family's benefactor.
Joshua nodded, with a slight smile on his face, and said in a softer tone, "Thank you for your hard work."
Mia naturally took Joshua's arm. Joshua didn't refuse. "Joshua, it's not hard. Your grandfather is my grandfather too. I'll do everything I can to treat him."
Ava came back with the medicine she had prepared and heard that Mia had become the Thomas family's great benefactor, seeing this harmonious scene.
Her eyes fell on Joshua and Mia, and she felt very uncomfortable.
Before she could think it through, Joshua's cool gaze fell on her, and he asked, "Where did you go?"
Ava lifted the medicine packet she had just prepared. "Grandpa's condition will improve with medication treatment."
Having stolen someone else's achievement, Mia secretly pushed down the trace of panic in her heart, smiled warmly, and said gently, "Ms. Davis, thank you for getting the medicine. Give me the medicine."
This sentence sounded perfectly fine.
However, the underlying meaning was telling everyone that Ava had only helped her get the medicine during this time.
Ava, who didn't know what had just happened, naturally couldn't pick up on the hint.
Ava raised her eyebrows slightly and ignored Mia, placing the medicine and prescription on the table, which clearly stated the dosage time and method.
"Joshua, Dad wants to see you in the study." Hayden leaned against the doorway.
Joshua acknowledged and gradually walked closer to Ava. "Wait for me here."
Ava looked up, her eyebrows raised slightly, her expression calm. She obediently nodded. "Okay." As if!
As soon as you leave, I'm out of here! Ava thought to herself.
