Chapter 13 Mia Saved Victor
The next moment, Ava's fingers trembled as something touched them. She quickly turned around and saw Victor looking at her with cloudy but excited eyes.
Ava's heart shook hard. She immediately grabbed Victor's hand, holding it tightly with trembling hands. Her voice choked up, and tears couldn't help but pour out, "Grandpa, Grandpa, it's me, Ava."
Victor struggled to open his mouth, but couldn't make a sound.
Everyone crowded around Victor's bed, and the room suddenly became noisy. Ursa tried to push Ava away, but Victor held onto Ava tightly, not letting her leave.
"Grandpa, what do you want to say?" Hayden quickly asked. Victor opened his mouth, and Hayden, being quick-witted, showed an understanding expression, "Grandpa, you want Ava to stay, right?"
Victor nodded with all his strength.
"Joshua, since Grandpa has spoken, let Ava stay and take care of him. What if Ava can really save Grandpa?"
Joshua frowned slightly, looked deeply at Ava, his unfathomable eyes showing a hint of worry.
After hesitating for a moment, he turned and left.
Since Victor wanted Ava to stay, Ursa couldn't say anything. She glared hard at Ava with a warning look, "Mia, you're Victor's attending doctor, you stay too."
Mia nodded obediently. She was naturally more than happy to do this effortless yet pleasing task.
Everyone in the room, including the servants, left, leaving only Ava, Mia, and Victor.
The room suddenly became quiet. Ava sat by Victor's bed.
She took out thin silver needles and went through a series of sterilization procedures, immediately getting into work mode.
"Grandpa, I'm here. You'll get better."
As she spoke, Ava pinched the silver needle between two fingers and inserted it into Victor's acupuncture points. Victor's body was weak, and it was already difficult for him to wake up. Now he tiredly closed his eyes.
Mia stood behind Ava with her arms crossed, watching Ava's serious and focused expression. She let out an undisguised cold sneer, "Ava, stop pretending. Do you even know medicine? You think you can save Grandpa with a few silver needles? How ridiculous."
"I'm telling you, he's already terminally ill, not far from death. You might as well give him one last..."
Before Mia could finish, Ava slapped her hard across the face.
Mia covered her face, looking shocked, "You bitch, how dare you hit me!"
"Shut up!"
Ava's eyes were sharp. She grabbed Mia's hair and pressed a silver needle against Mia's throat.
"I'm telling you, Grandpa won't die. If you keep talking nonsense, believe me, I'll make sure you can never speak again."
This fierce side of Ava was terrifying to watch.
The silver needle pressed against her neck, causing sharp pain. Mia was afraid that one more move would make the needle pierce her throat.
She stiffly nodded, and Ava threw her roughly to the ground.
Mia covered her face, clenched her fists, and stared viciously at Ava, her eyes filled with hatred that wanted to tear Ava apart.
Time passed minute by minute. Ava's forehead was covered with cold sweat. Acupuncture required extremely high precision. Getting any acupuncture point wrong could make Victor's condition worse.
Ava held her breath the whole time, not daring to relax even a bit.
Moreover, Ava was worried that Victor's body wouldn't be strong enough to support her finishing the treatment. Fortunately, the situation was better than she imagined. When she finished the needles, Victor's condition stabilized, and he was temporarily out of danger.
Ava let out a heavy breath. Seeing Victor's heart rate stabilize on the monitor, the anxiety in her throat finally eased.
Mia's eyes widened as she saw on the monitor that Victor's heartbeat had stabilized. How was this possible? Her face was filled with disbelief.
Ava, this dropout who didn't even finish school, had actually brought Victor back from death's door, when he was just one ventilator away from dying.
How was this possible?
Her heart tightened, and she suddenly felt she couldn't breathe.
A strong sense of crisis swept through her whole body.
If Ava saved Victor, she might very well be accepted by the Thomas family again.
Then what about her?
She had spent these months treating Victor and pleasing the Thomas family members, gaining Ursa's trust and affection. She thought she was close to marrying into the Thomas family.
And now Ava's appearance had ruined all her plans.
No way.
Mia clenched her fists tightly. Absolutely not.
She wouldn't allow this to happen.
Ava removed the silver needles from Victor and put them away. She still needed several more steps to treat Victor's illness. This was just the first step. However, she needed to carefully study the next treatment plan.
She remembered that the Thomas Villa had a special medicine room for storing precious herbs. She could go there and prepare some medicine for Victor, which would help his condition.
Mia watched Ava leave, her eyes flashing with viciousness. She turned back to look at Victor on the bed. His face, which had been terribly pale due to weakness, was now gradually returning to normal. An uncontrollable malice rose in her heart.
Victor had never agreed to her marrying into the Thomas family. Plus, if Ava saved him, how could there be any place for her?
With this thought, Mia slowly reached out her hand and pinched Victor's ventilator tube.
At that moment, footsteps came from the doorway.
Mia's face panicked. She grabbed the stethoscope nearby and pretended to examine Victor. The viciousness from just now was replaced by gentleness again.
"Grandpa, don't worry, I will do everything I can to save you. You must work hard to get better too. All of us are waiting for you to recover."
Ursa, who pushed open the door, heard exactly these words from Mia.
