Thirty three

Thirty three

Kyra felt a cold chill race down her spine at his words. She couldn't have heard him well, right or was her ears suddenly playing tricks on her?

She raised her eyes to his and Alpha Anton was smiling lightly as he looked at her. Yes, he was definitely joking with her.

"Kyra, you don’t need to look at me this way. You need to accept my proposal because this is what is best for the both of us," he said softly.

“You are joking, aren't you?” He was smiling but he sounded serious.

Alpha Anton clicked his tongue, “When have I ever joked? I'm being serious right now.”

Kyra scoffed in response. "I don’t accept this. I don’t understand why you keep making silly advances and saying things you are not supposed to say to me.”

Ifshe was still the foolish Kyra who was in love with Tristan, she would have believed Alpha Anton. She needed to thank Tristan for opening her eyes to the world. She was never going to allow herself to become a victim again.

Alpha Anton chuckled in response as he leaned closer and slowly used his lips to caress her cheeks. She gasped in shock at the way her body shook at the feel of him. She tried to move away but he grabbed her hand and kept a firm hold over it.

"Stop,’ she whined, her voice coming out softly when she intended to snap at him.

"I can’t," he whispered. "You can’t decide that it’s simple to reject me, Kyra. There is nothing simple about an Alpha trying to gain the affection of his subject," he mumbled.

She rolled her eyes as she fought against the way her body was reacting to his lips on  her cheek."You are asking me, a woman who's pregnant for another alpha to be your girlfriend?”

Kyra gulped as he released her hand to wrap his arm around her waist. He pulled her harshly towards his body. There was no form of softness here, but still her wolf purred like she was in heat, making her legs feel like jelly all of a sudden. Kyra cursed her wolf in her head.

What was wrong with her? She was not supposed to be reacting this way to his touch. Not only was she pregnant with another man's baby, she was not his mate. Her body was supposed to only react with Tristan or any wolf she chose and marked.

“I don't care that you are carrying another man's child. If otherwise, I would never have bought you.," and she was suddenly released as he stepped away from her. His fingers brushed his hair lightly as he kept watching her with fierce eyes. "Kyra, you have just one choice, be my girlfriend, so I can take revenge from the people who have wronged you. It’s the only way out,"

She fisted her hands, her long nails digging into the flesh and drawing blood. When Tristan first betrayed and rejected her, she had thought about taking revenge but thinking about her baby, she shoved the idea away.

Alpha Anton's offer was tempting but no, she just wanted to move on and live peacefully. She wishes that he would understand that.

"I’m not getting revenge on anyone. I have so many more things to do with my life than to waste it on flimsy things. I've made peace with my past already"

"Never say never. Think about it before giving me an answer," he said softly, and turned his back as he walked out the door.

Kyra released a deep breath she did not know she had been holding as she allowed herself to collapse on the chair behind her. She didn’t realize how much her energy had been sapped in that one conversation. What the hell was wrong with this Alpha? Why was he offering her all these things? They were coming so easily from him, she felt it was all a trap.

"Alpha, Tanya is waiting for you," Kyra heard a male voice informing Anton as he stepped out of her room.

A frown tugged on Kyra’s lips as she heard it. She wondered who this Tanya was because without a word, Alpha Anton was literally running towards the place she was.

'None of my business,' Kyra grumbled to herself.

She turned around as she glared at the wall, as she hit the arm of the chair. She had more pressing problems on her neck. The thought of what Alpha Anton was planning to do with her made her uneasy. It didn’t matter if he had shown heights of kindness, there was something off about an Alpha wanting someone like her. Kyra believed that it was too good to be true.

Alpha Anton moved quickly to his private lounge. The air was filled with a rich scent of lavender and vanilla. He couldn’t stop the smile that touched his lips. His best friend was finally here after such a long time of seclusion.

Calmly, Alpha Anton stepped into the room, and the first thing he saw was the bright red-hair that was seeping a cup of coffee as she read from a paper. She looked so sophisticated in a blue gown.

"Tanya, I can’t believe you’re here," he said happily.

He watched as Tanya lowered the paper coyly, and her eyes lit up like a thousand stars when they settled on him. It was the best thing in the world for him.

"I wonder how I managed to stay away from you for so long. I've missed you!" She said with a happy smile as she rose to her feet, and ran over to meet him.

He grinned so hard as he spread his hands wild. Tanya slid easily into his hands and he held her close, swinging her around as their laughter rose to the high ceiling. Alpha Anton couldn’t believe how long he had not been able to get her warmth or hear her voice.

"I’ve missed you so much," he said fervently.

She laughed softly at that. "I don’t think so."

He placed her back on the floor as he looked right at her. "What are you saying? Do you doubt my love for you? I have been counting the days that I would see you again, but you decided to show up by surprise. Of course, that would hurt me so much. Did you think about that?"

Tanya laughed at him as she covered her hand over her mouth. Her eyes lit up as she looked at him consistently. Alpha Anton tried hard not to smile. She was really something.

"Well, I still think you didn’t because there has been tales that you have a new woman around. Is that true?"

He blushed at that. "Eh..."

"You do?" She asked in disbelief as she pointed at him. Something flashed in her eyes but she blinked it away.

At his silence, Tanya moved slightly towards the door, but he held her back. Her laughter dulled into a soft smile as she looked at his face.

"No, it’s not time for you to meet her yet. I mean, she must be doing something." He said, making excuses. He was not sure Kyra would be up to meeting anyone now. Not after the bomb he had dropped on her today. Twice.

"You’re happy?" Tanya asked as her eyes searched his.

Alpha Anton sighed as he itched the back of his head. "She hasn’t accepted or anything. But, believe me, it’s not the reason I haven’t called you. And, I really missed you a lot," he tried to shift the topic away from Kyra.

Tanya sighed as she touched his cheek lightly. "I’m glad that you’re able to move on now, Anton. And I can’t wait to see her. I will be here until you find the right time to introduce her to me."

He beamed as he touched her palm that was against his cheek, tapping it lightly. "Of course.”
