"Why would you make such a comment, Alpha? I’m a bought slave, and there is no way I can be a Luna at this point. Stop trying to mock me more than is needed. I don’t find it funny at all," Kyra looked taken aback that he would even say such.

Her own father did not even think that she was worthy enough to be his daughter, Tristan saw her as a tool to hurt her father but Anton thinks she is worthy enough to become a Luna. Shocking, but Kyra felt happiness fill her heart at the fact that Anton thought that she was good enough to be someone as important as the Luna of a pack, even as she tried to tell him not to repeat such a statement.

Anton was about to say something, but a guard moved towards them at once. Kyra sighed as she took a step back, but she didn’t leave. She looked at the woman who was still crying profusely.

'I can’t believe the Alpha thinks that you’re worthy of becoming a Luna after all that’s happened so far including the Tristan incident,' her wolf grumbled.

Kyra sighed as she looked away from the woman. 'Why do you break my confidence all the damn time?' she mind-linked back.

Her wolf howled. 'I don’t make it a habit, Kyra. I just try to show you the reality. Would you rather I sugarcoat my words and at the end of the day, you would get hurt? I can’t let that happen again’ she said at once.

Kyra closed her eyes as she used her fingers to scratch against the skin on her palm. This was just so unfair, and no-one deserved to be treated like this, but her wolf didn’t care.

“Remember that I did not make all the decisions to be with Tristan alone, you were part of it and even pushed me on the days I was having doubts about his feelings concerning us.” Her wolf needed to be reminded.

“I know and that’s why I’m not going to push you to any man again. I’ve learnt my lesson but have you learnt yours? This might just be one of the mind games he uses on women so you better be careful.’ her wolf retreated after that.

She turned back at Alpha Anton and he was snapping at the guard to intensify the search, and shouldn’t return without concrete news on what had happened.

She bit her lips. The more she stayed here, the more she began to believe that Alpha Anton might not be the monster that she had painted him to be because of how he was trying to help this woman. Maybe, he had a heart in there, unlike Tristan and her father. The way he loved his people was so deep and intense and she liked that a lot. It was indeed pure. Some other alphas would never let their pack members meet them for such things and would not even send his people to take care of it.

"Kyra?" Anton called, snapping her out of her thoughts.

Kyra gulped as she watched Alpha Anton rise to his feet, making her stomach dip at once. Why was he...? She looked around, and everyone pretended as though they didn’t see the way he was behaving at all.

She took several steps to him. "You don’t need to get up when you call me. What would your people think? I’m already an anomaly as it were, and..."

"Be quiet," he said at once and Kyra blinked at him. "I swear, you nag a lot, and for no reason. I can do what I want when I want it, I don’t think anyone should have a problem with that. They have already realized that we share a different relationship than that of master and servant."

"What relationship?" she asked stiffly.

His lips lifted in a sly smile. "You haven’t figured that out yet?" He asked with bright eyes.

She wanted to say something, but kept quiet. Every single time she asked him what he wanted from her, he ignored her like she was just a delusional soul. So, it stunned her that Alpha Anton was suddenly claiming that she understood what he wanted from her.

She bit her lips as she thought hard on the way he had been treating her since she came to the pack. "Is it that you want me to be the Luna of this pack?" She asked softly.

He smirked. "You nailed it at last," he teased.

Kyra swallowed the lump in her throat as she looked around in shock. Did anyone hear such a preposterous saying? It would kill her if that had happened. The pack should never hear it till forever. She had been joking when she asked him that question, his answer was the opposite of what she expected him to give.

"Why are you looking pale?" He asked softly, with his head tilted to the side.

Kyra turned her gaze to him, her hands moving to her cheeks to pinch it as though to check if she was still alive and right here. Noting how childish she was being, she pulled her hand down. "I know fully well that you’re not thinking straight. I can’t be a Luna," she said firmly.

He raised a brow. "And, why is that?"

She scoffed. "I’m pregnant with another alpha’s child, and I’m also a slave that you bought for my father. Things don’t work like that. There is no way we can ignore these things even if I wanted to take you seriously. I’m sorry, Alpha," she mumbled as she bowed her head slightly.

He laughed then, and she was slightly shocked at it. The way he was behaving was more worrisome than ever, and she hoped with all her heart that she wasn’t making some sort of mistake by speaking out her mind. But, still, Kyra reasoned that she had to clear all misconceptions that he was harboring for her own sanity.

"What is so funny?" She managed to ask him in a calm voice.

The other guards looked at them, and Kyra didn’t have the heart to look at the woman who had come to report a missing child. She could imagine that the woman was feeling sidelined right now, but it was no-one’s fault.

Kyra suddenly felt Alpha Anton pull her hand. She looked at him in worry, and noted that he had his eyes intensely on her. "This situation is going to be taken care of, don’t worry " he assured her because he saw the way she gave the woman a guilty glance.

She blinked. “Thanks to the moon goddess.”

"Look, Kyra, I’m not someone who talks too much and I don’t do things just like that. I plan everything that I do, and when I found you, I realised that you need to come back with me. Of course, I didn’t get it, but now, I realise, it’s because you’re supposed to be a companion to me. Do you understand me?"

Kyra pulled her hands off him as she combed her hair lightly. "No, I don’t get anything. All I know is that I don’t want you to say such a thing again. It’s wrong.” She quickly reached a decision in her mind and decided to bargain with him. “I think you should release me from being your property, and then, I would work hard to pay off the money that you bought me with. There is no need for me to become your Luna or companion. There are other women that would be willing.”

He stepped even closer to her, and she could scent his cologne which made her blush like hell. He raised his hand and his fingers softly caressed her cheeks as he looked into her eyes. "You wouldn’t be able to pay back no matter how many years you work. You won’t be able to pay me back, not even with your life. So, don’t talk nonsense, Kyra," he scolded.

She looked at him for a minute and turned around and fled to her room. She felt so dirty all of a sudden. No-one treated her right, and even this man who just said she was worthy to become a Luna was not ready to release her.

He said he wanted her as a companion but how much of it was true? What sort of companion would she be to him? Would he not dispose of her if he meets someone better tomorrow?
