CHAPTER SIXTY-TWO: DEATH THREATS
\-ARTEMIS-
I grabbed the chair, my hand ruminating on the mattress as I grabbed my phone. It was a week and two days since Catherine had been buried. Bella was back on her feet, and this time she wasn't threatening me anymore.
Though she still wanted the position of heiress, she had decided to take her plans slow. I believed I was ready for anything she threw at me.
The buzzing sound of notifications had caught my attention as I thought of ways to help grow the company further. Kate and Sheriff had been doing a good job, though their sexcapade had increased, but they don't let it affect work.
I unlocked my phone, tapping the closed notification. It took a while loading, but it finally opened, red letters revealing itself.
"You have two days left to leave your position as the heiress. Failure to leave would cause you six feet below." The text read.
It suddenly occurred to me that there was no running from my troubles just yet. With Catherine gone, I could easily be intercepted, and these messages could really be more than just a bluff.
I paced around the room, trying to calm myself down. This happened to me in my distress after I had let myself out the first time with her.
Ring, ring… My phone began to vibrate, making its way to the end of the bed. I caught it before it could fall, placing the speaker next to my ear as I turned on the receiver.
"Hey, Alexander," I said.
"Hey Arte. How are you doing?"
"I'm good. What about you?" I let out a smile.
"Missing my darling. She's still the best thing that has ever happened to me." He let out a smile.
"Awwww, that's sweet."
"How about we meet up tomorrow after my press conference? I want to show you something." His voice soft and calm.
"I will show up for sure."
I know I should have let Alexander know about the text, but I just couldn't help but think about the way he would react. He could take me to the palace, order the guards to put on more preventive measures, but then I didn't want more people dying because of me.
Jamie was always available for me; he could be of help. My mind kept picking him over Alexander severally, and there was no way I could say no to the voices in my head.
I headed for the shower, prepared to face the day's work.
Work seemed to be boring along with everything. I wasn't enjoying it because I could only think of one thing. My life or my position as heiress.
*Miss Artemis, there's a mail from the company's mailbox. It's been addressed to you with a proper seal. I had to come show you; it could be something big."
I gave out a death glare. She understood almost immediately, taking to her heels as she headed out of my office. I wanted her to believe she had been good, but that was impossible at this moment.
I peeled off the seal that held the envelope in place, opening the envelope to pull out the white note.
My eyes narrowed as I read through the text. It had become inevitable for me to avoid such letters after the text I got this morning.
"Less than 38 hours to give up your title and leave the Mercedes alone. This is your chance to adhere and not get called to duty."
I folded the paper, throwing it into the bin. I bolted out of my office, calling Kate, who I believed was in her new office. She didn't respond, which made me curious. She had always run to me at the call of her name, but she was barely anywhere near me.
I pushed open her office door, waiting to get a glimpse of her on her desk.
"Yes, that's it, darling. Hit me, punish me, daddy." I could hear her moaning along with the slaps of flesh together.
I opened the door slightly, peeping at them.
Her hands were chained behind her back, and he was there, standing between her legs. His trousers were down, his rod sticking out as it rubbed against her passage.
"What's my name?" He grabbed his belt, folding it into two.
"Daddy." She moaned as he thrust into her.
"What's my name?" He hit the belt on her nipple as he banged.
"Daddy!" She let out a moan as her nipple swelled. They were standing, ready for action as she accepted his rod.
He kept ramming into her, her eyeballs going up as he slammed himself deeper into her, his full length ruthlessly thrust.
"Oh, that's it." She let out.
"What a beautiful day, isn't it?" I walked in on them.
"Yes, Daddy." Kate moaned. She was still gazing at the ceiling, unaware of presence.
"Miss Artemis." He quickly pulled out.
"I'm not here for you right now." I let out.
"Then who are you here for then?" He asked, hiding his rod with his hands.
I said nothing, my gaze lying on Kate, who was still unaware of my presence.
"So Kate, I see you enjoyed Sheriff well." I let out.
"Yeah, he's a …" She paused seeing me standing by the door.
"Miss Artemis." She fumbled, closing her legs.
"Meet me in my office." I held up a smirk before leaving them to cleanse themselves.
… Minutes later Kate walked in. She looked like she had run a hurdle, sweat lingering on her face.
"I'm so sorry, Miss Artemis. I didn't hear you when you called." She said almost immediately.
"It's alright; you were busy calling your daddy. Who wouldn't want to chant those words? "I teased.
"I'm really sorry, Miss Artemis."
"Worry about that later. Did you see who sent this letter?"
"Not really, but according to the staff who saw him, they said he was wearing a black cloak."
A black cloak… The only people who wore black cloaks were from the underground society in downtown.
"Oh, the cloak had a Mercedes crest on it. Should be a family messenger."
