Chapter 19 20
Chapter 21
DIMITRI VALEQUEZ
I could barely contain my emotions. Ryker was furious, suffering from the effects of tonight's blood moon. He wanted to take control and rip out every one of those fucking leeches, and I wanted to do the same, but the only thing stopping me was the last text Adriana sent to me.
Sabrina was still very much alive and Nikola had Zoey. They had targeted the hospital and killed a few nurses in the process of getting Zoey out and even Carrie was dead. And Adriana was walking right into the vampire's den.
I read through my mate's last text again while we were currently on our way, tracking Adriana through the location spell Agatha and the witches had done. I glanced out from the SUV into the night's darkness and the sky. The full moon was already hanging in the sky and it was barely a few hours to the peak of midnight. And that was exactly when we were to begin the ritual to break the curse. Asula's curse was already consuming every one of my kind; their wolves were currently unresponsive.
If only that was all, some of the pack members had been going unconscious since yesterday, and unfortunately, some ended up dying. Even though I could still feel Ryker within me, it was best I avoided shifting before the curse was broken, otherwise I might not be able to survive the effect.
“Adriana’s stopped moving,” Agatha called out from the backseat of the car, her eyes on the locator’s map.
“How far are we?” I asked.
“About twenty minutes away,” Gwen responded and I groaned in frustration.
Adriana's lack of movement on the map simply meant they'd arrived at Nikola's mansion, and it was only a matter of time before Nikola and his witches figured out the Phoenix sword Adriana had taken was nothing but a fake.
This was all part of Adriana’s plan she had sent through the text. This would give us enough time to arrive with reinforcement. Only a few warriors from the pack came with me, and knowing we weren't in the best condition to fight Nikola's army, I reached out to the fox kingdom and white bear territory for assistance. Their army would be aiding us for tonight.
I hope Zoey was unharmed. She was barely in good shape before she was taken out of the hospital, and with her surgery tomorrow she should be exposed to anything like this. All the lore reason we needed to get Zoey and Adriana out in no time before the peak of midnight and hopefully get back to the pack to begin the Blood Moon ritual to break the curse.
And for tonight, I pray the goddess was on our side.
ADRIANA CROSS
My eyes snapped open and I groaned at the excruciating pain I felt at the back of my neck and in my bones. I found myself on a bed in an unfamiliar room. The last thing I remembered was talking to Sabrina while the dark witches made me go unconscious. I must be in the vampire king territory.
“You truly are a beauty,”
At the sound of the unfamiliar voice I shot up to a sitting position, and my eyes fell on the man sitting on a chair opposite to the bed. With the dark, dangerous aura pouring off him, I knew who he was. The man who started all of this madness and was responsible for the deaths of so many innocent people, including my family.
“Nikola Vladimir,” I spat in anger, about to stand when I noticed the chains binding my legs and my hands to the bed.
“It's a pleasure to finally meet you, Adriana Blackrose,” He smiled, darkly amused. “Please forgive me if my men hurt you in any way; they were simply just taking precautions,” He nodded at the silver cuff around my wrist. “That is to ensure you can't access your magic or your wolf,”
“Where's Zoey?” That was the only thing I was interested in. And I was worried because this could take a toll on her health.
“She's fine as long as you behave,” He smiled, leaning back against the chair.
“She's sick and needs to be in the hospital,” I said, meeting his red eyes. “My sister needs medical attention, and if something happens to her, I swear to all things sacred, I'll kill you,”
“And she'll be returning at the first light of dawn as soon as I confirm that the Crescent Moon Pack is dead. It will be one less problem for me with Dimitri being unable to break the curse tonight. Now I have the only weapon that could kill me, thanks to you; by the way, there's no way anyone but me will be winning the upcoming war. And once I have claimed victory, you'll be my bride, and you'll bear my heir,” Nikola pulled up from the chair, strolling closer to the bed. His hands cupping my face as he leaned to kiss me but I head-butted him instead, glowering at him.
“Only in your dreams will I ever be your bride, or ever marry you, Nikola. In case you didn't know, I despise you and can't wait for the day I'd see you dead,”
Nikola smiled, unfazed by everything I just said. He strolled to the door, but paused briefly, sending me an unreadable glance. “Rest up, love, tomorrow's going to be a long day,”
