Chapter 875 Chapter 875
Foster had walked back to the road where he could get a signal and called Zain. He was currently on hold because Zain felt the prince and princess needed to be in on the call. Harland had returned and it didn’t take a genius to see he was full of regret. Nyssa’s leg would heal and thanks to Shaelan’s excessive amount of supplies, there shouldn’t be any sort of infection.
Foster was lucky in the way that his childhood and life hadn’t been hard. Sure, people went missing, but his clan and home were always there and the basics in life were plentiful. He didn’t understand how a clan could live the way Ena’s had been. He saw red when he learned that Nyssa and Ena’s parents had left them. Ena’s father may not have been his choice, but why would he have stayed with a young child in a life like this? He couldn’t grasp it.
“Sorry, we’re here now, Foster.” It was Rayne. “Zain was giving a quick rundown. Is the woman all right? Do we need to send an airlift?”
Foster shook his head. “I think she’ll be fine. Nothing appears to be broken, just ripped up.”
“I can’t believe she shifted to get her leg out,” Zain said. “That had to be a screaming kind of pain.”
Foster nodded. “After seeing how they live, I think she’s conditioned for it.”
“Tell us.” That was Devin.
“Zain told you that Ena was the one that called? Orson is missing, and she believes he was taken.”
“Yes. The team members to deal with Waylon are on the way.”
“Okay.” He looked down the road to make sure no one was heading this way. “So, I sent Zain some pictures of the states of the homes…”
“They live in those?” Rayne sounded like she was on top of the phone.
“They do.”
“Shit,” Devin muttered something.
“Will they relocate, Foster?”
He blew out a breath. “I think if they were going to they would have by now. Betty and Heidi were talking and telling me some things, and I don’t think they have plans to ever leave here.”
“Okay,” Devin spoke away from the phone and he couldn’t hear what he said. “I’m going to reroute Jesse and Leah to head that way.”
“I’ll need a list of what is needed to send,” Rayne said.
Foster stared at the road. “They’re going to need someone that can fix those buildings, inside and out. Then there’s the vehicles. One is a tow truck that Savan uses to make money, and the other two are older than I am.”
“Devin, what if we send some of the men that have been released from the center? I know a few of them are struggling to settle back into their clans. Maybe this task would give them a purpose.”
“That’s a good idea.” Zain agreed. “We have one here now and he’s doing much better having something to do.”
Foster had never stopped to consider what happened to them once they were released from the center. He knew about Noah and a few others, but honestly, he just dropped them off and moved on to the next assignment he was given. “If you have any displaced coyote clans people, they could give the women a hand with the insides of the buildings.” He looked down the narrow trail toward the hidden place. “And help with Nyssa and shifting.”
“I’ll go over the lists, Foster, but it’s a very good idea. Someplace quiet and out of the way may help with healing and settling.” Rayne sighed. “I’m going to send everything. It sounds like it will be needed.”
Foster didn’t know what everything was, but he did know that since Rayne had come along, there were no known clans out there that were lacking in anything.
“Is there a way we can talk to Ena, Foster?”
He looked around. “Right now, I’m standing on a road because the signal in the bush is touch and go.” He wondered how close Gia and Deacon were. “The plan was to go back to the motel and meet up with Gia and Deacon after dropping off some groceries.”
“Stick with that. We’ll call when you’re there and talk to Ena.” Devin said.
“Foster, there should be extra phones in a blue case. Make sure you leave some of them with this clan and our numbers in case they need anything before the shipment arrives.”
He looked at the trail again. “Might want to send the stuff in vans, nothing too big. The drive in is worse than getting down into the factory.”
Devin laughed. “That’s bad.”
He nodded. “I’ll get them the phones and will call when we’re back to the motel.”
“I have a house,” Zain said. “It’s about forty-five minutes from Waylon’s farm, I think. It’s hard to tell with the back roads. I’ll text you the information as soon as I know where the keys are.”
“Is this a registered house, Zain?”
“No. It’s one of our kings off the list places.”
“Good.” Devin cleared his throat. “We’ll talk soon. I need to reach out to Raymond for a list of survivors we can send to help.”
Foster nodded. “Okay. I’ll go get Kevan and Ena and get back to the motel.”
