Chapter 759 Chapter 759
Zain opened his eyes and looked at Oaklyn asleep beside him. Last night had happened. She sighed in her sleep, and he smiled. They were very much fully mated. A knock on the door had him slip quickly out of the bed.
Grabbing his robe, he put it on and rushed over to the door. Looking through the peephole, he saw Bear standing there. Unlocking it, he opened it.
Bear came in and closed the door behind him, engaging the lock. He turned around, then opened his mouth and snapped it closed again. “I’d, uh, ask how your night was, but—” He motioned up and down his neck. “I can see how it did.” He grinned. “Congratulations.”
“Mmm, morning, Timothy.” Oaklyn came out of the bedroom. Her hair was mussed up, and she looked all soft and sexy, half asleep. She glanced at Zain and smiled. “Morning, husband.”
Zain grinned. “Wife.”
Bear cleared his throat. “I was coming to ask if anyone wanted coffee.”
Someone knocked on the door.
Bear turned and looked at the door. Reaching behind him, he went over and looked out the hole. “You guys’ order room service.”
“Oh. That’s probably our complimentary breakfast.”
Bear gave her a quick look and then opened the door. “I’ll take it, thanks.” He nodded to the staff member, took the cart, and pulled it inside.
When he closed the door, Oaklyn went over and lifted one of the covers. “I am starving. I could eat a whole steer right now.”
Bear chuckled. “I don’t think they have a lot of cattle in Chicago.”
She laughed. “Bacon is good too.” She picked up the next cover and smiled. “We’re going to have to go have breakfast after our breakfast. This is not enough for three.”
Zain looked around for his phone and then looked back at the bedroom. “We can go out to eat or order more up here.” Going in, he saw it on the floor beside the dresser. With a smile, he picked it up and checked it. Jesse had messaged him. He read it and then went back out. “Or we can grab something on the way to a meeting.”
“A meeting?” Oaklyn turned with a piece of bacon in her hand.
“Jesse messaged. A few of the leaders are here now, and there’s a planning meeting.”
“I’m grabbing a shower first.” Oaklyn picked up one of the plates and walked toward the bathroom. She gave him a look that said she wouldn’t be disappointed if he wanted to join her. He looked at Bear.
“I’m going to eat and figure out what to wear to cover my neck.”
She paused at the bathroom door and touched his mark on her neck. “Good thing it’s scarf season.” She smiled and went in and closed the door.
Bear stood beside the cart, looking at the other plate.
“Help yourself, just save me coffee. I’ll grab something before we go.” His phone rang in his hand. He looked at it and grinned. Answering it, he went into the bedroom. “Illias. I take it we have you to thank for the newlywed’s complimentary breakfast.”
Illias laughed. “Of course you do.”
Zain picked up the bathing suits and set them on the chair. “My mate is very appreciative. She just took a plate into the shower with her.”
There was a long silence. “You sound—” Illias sucked in a breath. “You did it, didn’t you? For real, not a fake marriage.”
Zain couldn’t help the grin on his face. “It just kind of happened.”
Illias snorted. “Oh yeah, sorry I slipped, and my teeth sunk into your neck, dear.” He laughed.
Zain shook his head. “Was there a reason you called?”
“Yeah. Jesse said you didn’t respond to his message.” He could hear other voices in the background. “So, I thought I’d better check in with you.”
“I just saw the message. Where are we meeting?” He looked at the bathroom door and wished he could be in there with his lovely mate.
“We’re sending a limo for you,” Illias mumbled something. “Calum thought it would help with the appearance of you being a filthy rich jerk.”
Zain looked at the door again. “Who is the driver?”
“Calum. He wanted to check out the neighborhood near the Tomas building in person.”
Zain grinned. “What time will he be here?”
“Fifteen minutes. Jesse messaged you over an hour ago. I’ll call Calum and tell him he doesn’t have to rush in and save you…”
Zain squeezed his eyes shut. If Bear hadn’t woken them— “We’ll be ready.”
“Okay. See you shortly. And congrats, bud.”
Zain nodded. “Thanks. I have no idea what to do next, but I’m happy for the first time in my adult life.”
“I’m sure you are.” Illias hung up, but not before Zain heard him laughing.
