Chapter 506 Chapter 506

Chapter 506 Chapter 506
Amari smiled at the phone and then looked at Tripp to see he was shaking his head.

“Wait. So—hang on. Back up,” Blair murmured, “you were going to do what?”

“I don’t think they asked for a group call to explain their methods,” Calum said in an even voice.

“No, I know.” Blair said quickly, “I just—I might throw up.”

Amari put her hand over her mouth so she wouldn’t laugh at him. “I wouldn’t have done it,” she pursed her lips, “I don’t think.”

“Please tell me you got the information. Otherwise, I’m going to go curl up in a corner somewhere and tremble in fear.” Jesse sounded amused.

Amari looked up at Tripp and noticed he was giving her that look again, the one that said he’d rather pick her up and carry her somewhere else to do much more interesting things. “I’ll let Tripp explain, it pisses me off and I might go back in and stab him.” His look sobered.

“I would rather not pick up a body,” Asher stated.

“Tripp?”

Tripp straightened at Kenzo’s voice. He looked at the phone, “the pickup is for tomorrow morning, location unknown, they’ll send a text an hour before.” Tripp glanced at her for a second, then continued, “it’s got to be close if they’re only giving him an hour’s notice.”

“Do you want York and Asher to hang there and lend a hand?” Devin asked.

“No,” he shook his head, “he told us too much, and shortly their whole network will know that he’s missing, so we need him secure where they can’t get to him.”

“Okay,” Devin paused, “Dad can’t join in, so let’s not keep us in suspense any longer.”

She wasn’t sure what he had texted Kenzo, but a half-hour later six of them were on a conference call. Amari exchanged a look with Tripp, the nerve in his jaw was pulsing. It made her feel slightly better that he was just as angry as she was. Although, he was hiding it a lot better than she was.

He ran his hand back through his hair to brush it out of his face, “the leak is still coming from inside.”

“How?”

“Let him finish, Nate.” Kenzo cut him off.

“He doesn’t know who, just that they’re part of Alliance security.” Tripp rolled his shoulders like the tension was riding him heavily and she understood where it was coming from, right now she wanted to head to the Alliance headquarters and start stabbing people.

“The actual security team? Raymond is going to go ballistic.” Kenzo said in a quiet voice.

“Are there any other details?” Calum’s tone was quiet now.

Tripp shook his head, “all he knows,” he glanced at her, a slight smirk on his face, “and I believe he would have told us if he knew more,” Amari smirked back at him, “they’re holding his family or a member of his family and if he wants them back alive, he has to help.”

“They’ll never come back alive.” Kenzo hissed out a breath, “he probably won’t live long when he stops sharing things.”

“We have to talk to Raymond, he needs to know one of his is leading them right to ours,” Jesse sounded angry and that was rare, usually he didn’t get stirred up. “If they were able to get Amari…”

“No one is safe.” Calum finished for him.

“I’ll talk to Dad, I’m sure he’ll want to call Raymond to come to see him and tell him in person,” Devin paused, “can you check things on your end, Nate? See if you can find out how he’s giving them tracking information?”

“Fallan and Dane are going to pitch a fit, they designed the new trackers, and if they’ve been compromised…”

“They knew right where to look,” Tripp glanced down at her, “the wiring harness was pulled up, ripped out and the tracker was crushed on the ground.”

“Shit.” Nate started mumbling and she couldn’t understand what he was saying. “All of them could be compromised then, the chips for the cleanup team, phone tracking, vehicles, all of it—”

“Are the phones still secure?” Devin asked.

It was as if everyone held their breath waiting for an answer. “Yes, they’re solid. Unless they have one of the tech team’s systems, they can’t possibly tap into any calls. Every call is monitored,” Tripp raised an eyebrow and then glared at the phone, “we don’t hear what’s said, we just monitor the signal and any interruptions, like if someone else is on it or trying to get in it…”

“Good to know,” Kenzo said in a dry tone.

“They can’t have access to everything or yesterday would have been a disaster and they’d be on us right now,” Blair stated.

“I was just thinking that,” Jesse added.

“What now?” Amari scowled at the phone. “Two-hour check-ins are pointless if they can follow us,” she was so tired of this, “what about those we’ve transported? Rescued? Do they know where they have been moved to?” She was seething inside, “they’ll know everyone we’ve sent to the Alliance holding,” she waved her hand around, “what’s to say the one helping them won’t just let them back out again?” She paced away and then spun back around again, “are we supposed to just start doubting everyone we work with?” She hissed out a breath, “I’m pissed, Jesse, I’m so sick of this,” she snarled at the phone, “if I get my hands on whoever—” She couldn’t finish that train of thought.

“Amari.” Jesse rarely used an authoritative tone, so as soon as she heard it, she looked back at the phone.

“Where are Deva and Calla, Jesse, are they safe?” Her heart pounded.

“They’re fine. They’re with us and the teams.” He assured.

“Good.” She put her hands on her hips and looked down at the ground, her cat was right there, wanting a piece of someone too.

“Hold on a sec,” Tripp said.
