Chapter 30 - Concert
KRIS:
I woke up as light streamed into the room, falling on my closed eyes. Opening my eyes, it was morning already.
For the first time in two weeks, I slept peacefully. And surprisingly, I woke up earlier than usual. It must be due to hunger because my stomach rumbled.
Hurrying out of bed, I got into the bathroom and brushed my teeth before washing my face.
After that, I climbed down the stairs in my quest to find food.
Entering the kitchen, I was met with a pleasant surprise.
Lexi was on the kitchen counter with Val between her legs, lips crushed together.
Not wanting to ruin their moment, I quietly stepped out and decided to tour the environment all by myself.
Somehow, I was able to ignore my hunger.
I got outside and walked aimlessly to the back of the house, towards the lake.
There was a chair on the patio so I sat on it, looking at the water.
I didn't know how long I was there but then I saw a shadow and I looked up to see Tiffany.
She had a sugar-coated smile on her face.
"Good morning Kris.” She greeted still smiling.
"How was your night?" She asked.
I literally had to rub my eyes to make sure I wasn't dreaming but she was still there.
Huh...did she hit her head on the wall? Why is she suddenly acting so nice?
"It was fine. Yours?" I responded, deciding to play along.
"Ohh... mine was great with Jake.” She smiled.
Now I know her game. She's playing the jealousy card. Bitch is ignorant as fuck. I mentally concluded.
"Good to hear.” I smiled back.
"I'm sure you really wanted to spend the night with him last night but too bad he chose me.” She shook her head like she was doing it out of pity and I stared at her blankly.
Bitch is nuts.
"It's okay. I'm sure you've realized he's not yours so you should get your claws off him.” She added and I cackled loudly.
She looked at me like I was crazy. Ignoring her, I got up from my chair still laughing as I walked towards the house.
She's so dumb it's hilarious.
Getting to the living room, the sweet smell of food invaded my nostrils and I traced it to the kitchen.
Val was cooking again.
I walked to him and wrapped my arms around his torso from behind, resting my head on his back.
"If you continue cooking this way I might just fall in love with you.” I said, smiling into his back.
"Say no more.” He said, chuckling.
"And Lucian will have your head.” Chris replied from where he was.
They all laughed but I didn't.
Okay maybe I might have faked mine.
Tiffany walked towards us, perching beside Val.
"Is there anything I can help you with?" She asked, trying to look cute but only succeeded in looking like a bimbo.
"Nah...I'm almost done.” Val replied. But the bitch didn't get the memo.
She placed a hand on his shoulder, moving it slowly to his bicep.
"Are you sure?" She asked, fluttering her lashes with her hand still lingering.
"Hundred and one percent" was Val's reply.
Pulling away from Val, I turned to look at Lexi but she pretended not to be looking but I knew otherwise.
Once the food was ready, we ate in the living room.
"Hey…guys…wanna go out?" Chris asked with a mouthful of food.
"To where?" I inquired "This music concert is being held this afternoon. About a 30 minutes’ drive from here.” He replied.
"Who's performing?" Lexi asked.
"Dunno. We'll eventually find out when we get there.” Chris replied.
"Really?" Jake raised his brows.
"Yeah...what's the worst that could happen besides listening to some crappy music from some crappy musicians.” Chris shrugged nonchalantly.
"After wasting money on tickets.” Val completed.
"Yeah. That too. But if you don't want to, we could find something else to do.” Chris added.
"Maybe we should just check it out.” I said and Everyone nodded in agreement.
We finished eating and went to our various rooms to prepare after cleaning up.
By the time we were all done, it was noon already so we headed to the venue of the concert.
We got there and found out it was Twenty-one Pilots that were performing. Buying tickets, we joined the crowd of excited fans.
The excitement was actually contagious and again, Twenty-one Pilots is one of my favorite bands.
Soon the show started and we were all heady with excitement as we sang along to Heathens, the song they were currently playing.
In the midst of all this, I felt my phone vibrate in my pants pocket. Pulling it out, Angel flashed across the screen.
Lucian was calling.
Not ready to destroy my mood, I switched it off and focused on the show.
By the time it ended, it was evening already.
We drove back to the lake house with happy expressions on our faces but not before eating out since we were all too tired to cook.
Getting to the house, I went to my room with the intention of taking a bath but I decided to check my phone again.
Switching it on, I saw 10 calls from Lucian with one message that read, "I'm coming for you.”
That triggered my anger but I wasn't gonna let that spoil my evening.
It's a good thing I'm not home. Or so I thought.
Placing my phone on the nightstand, I stripped and got into the bathroom.
I took my time to relax in the warm water as I washed all the stress and anger I was feeling away.
After a while, I got out of the tub and tied a towel around myself before stepping out for the bathroom.
Getting into the room, I saw him sitting on the bed, head down.
My heartbeat accelerated.
