Chapter 29 - Tiffany

KRIS:

"Aww... you came.” I went over to Val and hugged him.

"Of course. I'm not about to miss out in the fun and again, Luc asked me to babysit you.” He winked.

Hearing Lucian's name pricked my heart but I did my best to ignore it. I didn't tell anyone what happened. I wasn't ready to be at the receiving end of their sympathetic looks.

And again, it'd been two weeks and I'd been managing just fine.

Or so I thought.

It was the weekend, and we were going on a trip. More like a mini vacation to a lake house we rented.

By we, I mean my friends and I.

Everyone was at my place, ready to leave but we were still waiting for Jake.

I pulled away from Val in time to see Jake's car pulling into the driveway. The car came to a stop and the passenger side opened to reveal Tiffany.

Definitely wasn't expecting her.

Jake got out and they strode to us. We all exchanged greetings.

I didn't fail to notice the way Tiffany's eyes glided over Val with a glint in them.

This weekend is about to get interesting. I thought to myself.

Thereafter, we moved our luggages to our different cars. Paige and I got in with Chris, Lexi with Val and off course, Jake and Tiffany.

The cars sped out of the driveway and we started our Journey.

The journey lasted for about four hours in which I slept for most of the time.

When I finally woke up, we pulled into the parking lot of a nice lake house. It was really beautiful but not as good as Lucian's beach house.

Damn my stupid heart. Even when it's broken, it still yearns for the bastard.

Deciding to push my broken heart into a dark corner, I got out of the car and lazily dragged my suitcase towards the house, along with the others.

If Lucian was here he would have helped with my Luggage. The thoughts crossed my mind but I gulped, swallowing the sadness that was fighting to resurface.

My lazy self missed him. But then, he was never mine and never will be.

Why is it taking so much time for that to sink in?

Pushing my stupid thoughts away once more, I made my way into the house.

It was really nice on the inside.

Deciding I needed to see the rooms, I trudged upstairs with my suitcase and began checking all the rooms.

I found one with black interior. Instantly, I fell in love with it.

Black is actually my favorite color. I'm not a Barbie crazed girl that loves pink.

I couldn't help thinking if Lucian was with me he would have chosen this particular room.

I took it anyway.

There were nine rooms on the top floor so we all took one each except for Tiffany who took a room with Jake.

By the time we got settled in, it was dark already.

I took a bath and pulled on an oversized tee before heading downstairs to meet everyone in the kitchen.

Val was cooking and Tiffany was by his side rambling about God knows what while Lexi was glaring daggers at her from where she was seated on the island.

Like I said before, the weekend will be damn interesting.

Imma just sit back and watch the drama.

Soon, Dinner was ready. We all sat down in the living room and devoured the meal.

Thereafter, Paige and I offered to do the dishes.

By the time we were done, most people had retired to their rooms. Paige went to her room but I decided to sit on the balcony for a while and watch the stars.

I quickly ran to my room to get my phone and earpods before going outside.

Opening the door to the balcony, the moonlight illuminated a human form.

It was Jake. He was typing away on his phone.

I slumped down on the couch with him, bumping my shoulders with his.

He looked at me and I could see the shadow of a smile on his face.

"Shouldn't you be in bed?" He asked, pocketing his phone.

"Came to star gaze but you're here.”

"Aww you're missing your boyfriend.” He winked and I rolled my eyes.

If only he knew.

He straightened his legs and I took that opportunity to lie on the couch, placing my head on his lap and slinging my legs over the arm of the couch.

He passed his hand gently through my hair and I sighed.

"So...I don't want to meddle but I'm curious.” I looked up at him.

"Curiosity killed the cat.”

"I'm not the cat you know.”

"What are you curious about?” He asked, gently grazing my hair.

I felt like a baby and sleep was knocking on my door.

"What's up with you and Tiffany?"

He chuckled at the name.

"It's Tiffany.” He corrected me.

"I know but she doesn't seem to like me so I gave her that.” I grinned.

"Ignore her.”

"Okay…" I raised my brows still waiting for an answer.

"She's just a friend.”

Ohh…

"But you invited her and you're sharing a room.”

"Nope. She invited herself and she's pretty clingy.” This made me laugh.

"You better enjoy it while it lasts.” I waggled my brows and he shook his head chuckling.

We stayed that way for a while as he continued playing with my hair.

I tried keeping myself awake a little longer but it was getting really hard so I eventually closed my eyes.

The sound of the door opening awakened me.

"Jake.” A voice called and Tiffany came into view.

"Let's go to bed baby.” She drawled, pulling his hand away from my hair.

Getting up from his legs, I tried standing but my legs were wobbly and Jake chuckled before steadying me with an arm around my waist.

He held me steadily and led me Into the house with Tiffany by his side.

Getting to my room, I murmured an incoherent thanks making him chuckle as he opened the door for me.

I got in and closed it behind me before falling on my bed.

Sleep attacked me Immediately.
