Chapter 33

VANESSA

I've really been spending a lot of time by myself, as Drew gets to know Alias. They were really bonding, hell him and Asher and Alec have this bromance going on. If they knew my plan on killing Alias, I don't think they would ever forgive me. I've blocked my mind, so that no one can read it. It's been a good month since he was brought back, and I've been strengthening my witch powers. I never wanted to take this away from my son, but I also didn't want to put his life over my kingdoms. Brought me back to the day that he had killed me or attempted to at least.

We were there for a celebration, and Alias wasn't there. He seemed distant, and he wouldn't answer any mind-links. I was there to honor the mating festival by myself with my kingdom. I was more anxious to announce to him about the heir that was growing inside me.

"Alias, where are you? We need to talk please?" I tried one last time to try to get his attention, yet he still didn't answer. The excitement I felt about this child that was laying inside me. But it just turned to late tonight, early tomorrow. I stood out onto the balcony, wondering what I had done wrong. Is he okay? My mark didn't show any hurt, so he was okay. The crisp air was hitting my bare skin, as a wish of air pushed my hair back. It was him. I turned around, and he was there in front of me, but he wasn't looking at me.

"Alias, what is wrong? I've not heard from you all day, and there is a festival going on. I was going to make an announcement." He still wouldn't face me, as my wolf whined to our mate, not happy.

"What announcement?" He asked, but again his back was still turned to me.

"We have an heir on the way, I am with child." For the first time, he looked at me, and there was something different about him. His eyes filled with guilt, and sadness. His posture shows that he's been somewhere. My inner hybrid was on full alert, as she came forward and forced herself upon. We sniffed the air, and there was a she-wolf lingering off him, that he tried to mask in the lake water. We were fuming. He knew that I knew, and he didn't try to apologize. I turned back holding myself on the balcony.

"You show up with the smell of another wolf on you, when "I, your mate" is here carrying your child." I tried to hold myself up, but my heart was breaking each second.

"I found my destined mate." The only words that came out, and I looked at him to see that there was no remorse. I flung myself around, and not before I shoved him, causing him to step back.

"You gave up that right when you choose to mate with me! You made that choice when you asked me!" I let out a sorrow howl.

AROOOOOO!

Which caused everyone below to freeze.

"Vee, I didn't realize how hard it would be. Until she came here. My wolf ached for her, and I couldn't stop myself. I want to be with her." Anger crawled in me as a scorned woman. I found myself shoving him over, and over. Until my arms were in his hands. Tears were falling down my face.

"You think you can leave me and bring her to take my spot. I am their queen. You want her, you will leave for dishonoring our mate bond. You will have no right to the heir, you will be a low born rogue." I yelled at him. Usually the king has the right, but I had the power to take over. To challenge him and win.

"But I will kill her, how about that. This isn't loyalty to her queen." Something flashed over him, where he came darting towards me. He tried to tackle me as he grew, but I was able to grab him and slam him. My hand was around his throat. I wanted to break every bone in his damn body.

"You will not touch my mate, or I will end you. This is my kingdom, and she will rule." He yelled at me.

"You are nothing but a normal Alpha, I have more power than you think. I am your mate, and your queen. I am the hybrid that can end anything in its way." I brought myself up, and he got up and went towards the room.

I leaned on the balcony wall, feeling every inch of my soul breaking. I heard him making his way back to me, and when I turned around, he shoved a dagger with a powder on it into my heart. Usually that wouldn't fix it, but the powder put my body frozen. It was frozen. I couldn't move. I looked into his eyes, and a tear was falling down.

"Now you are nothing. You will never take what I have." My body fell onto his. and suddenly he threw my body off the balcony, and a sudden pain rushed through me as I hit the ground.

How was I ever able to forgive him after all that, it was a heinous crime towards me. I just know that it's time to repay the favor. I shifted into my wolf rushing back to the palace, just thinking about everything that has led me up to that point. My kids will always come first. But as I ran back, I was hit by an arrow that hit my shoulder, pinned to a tree. It was carrying a wolfsbane and was a silver tip. It had no effect on me. A woman walks out, and she smells of a shapeshifter.

"Oh, my queen, it's good to see you here." I had already mind linked Asher. I wanted to see her deal.

"You know me, who are you?" She walked in front of me, to where I could smell her minty breath.

"I am looking for a wolf." Oh, great is this what was happening, we were playing the guessing game.

"I am looking for a wolf that has been coming into town making quite a problem. Hand that one over, I don't kill you." I laughed to the thought of this now, that she obviously hasn't done her research.

"Of course, how about 3 hybrids?" She looks at me unsure, until I take the arrow to my shoulder, and break it. Asher and Drew were walking up from behind. She looked behind and fear crept her face.

"Oh shifter, you should do more research before coming up to a hybrid queen. Silver and wolfsbane have no effect, but the arrow itched a bit." She reached for her arrows again, before Drew came from behind her, and disarmed her.

"You were the bait because this was way too easy. Show your real self" I commanded but the girl just stared at me.

"I need all the warriors in the war room." I was angry at this point, that this was happening.

Asher, Alec, Drew, Alias, and I had walked in, as the betas took over their spots. All of them looked really nervous, and they should be. They all have one job, and in shifts. Why the hell were they able to get through?

"Babe, what is this all about?" Asher had asked me, but in a hushed tone. He was about to find out. I always keep forgetting I have a king, but my dominance was kicking it. There was a vase that was in the middle of the table. I had grabbed it and threw it against the wall. They all watched in horror as it smashed all over the floor.

"I have 50 warriors every damn shift, where the heck was everyone on the east border huh? No one said a damn thing. Which pissed me off.

"Who was supposed to be in the East Wing, and don't let my mate not hear a single person take responsibility." Asher called out. 10 have raised their hand, and they look like they were a child getting scolded.

"Pete, where was everyone?" I asked one of the new people, knowing they wouldn't lie, "My Queen, our command asked us all for a meeting at this time." I looked over looking at them all trying to think who the commander was.

"Who was in charge right now?" He looked over to a man who knew his ass was in charge.

"Stand up and come front and center warrior" He hesitantly got up from his chair, and the only sound you heard was his boots on the floor. He stood before me and bowed.

"What was this meeting about? I don't recall any meetings happening warrior." Asher was beside me, as he held my hand.

"My Queen I was just relaying new information from what I was seeing." He answered.

"How come you couldn't say it through a mind link? Don't you think it's important for everyone to hear, especially us?" He had gulped and showed his neck to me in submission.

"Vanessa, I want you to test his blood." Asher had commanded me, and I think he was onto something. The warrior looked really nervous now. He was hiding something, and we were about to find out.

"How come you let that weak shapeshifter in?" There was a bead of sweat that was forming on his forehead, and that was showing Asher was right all along. I swiped his hand, and quickly bit into his hand, where black blood was on my lips and it burnt me. Wasn't long before he started to molt his skin, which proved he was a shapeshifter. He was down on his knees in tears, begging us not to kill him.

"I have no choice but to follow their command, I never wanted to do this. I have a family I'll never see again until you die."

"The warlock is dead; the curse should be over." It was a loaded question, but it was something that needed to be said.

"There is another warlock, he is a descendent from the other one. He wanted to avenge his grandfather’s death. Please don't kill me. I just wanted to help my family." Maybe it was the hormones that were getting to me, but I was crying. My stomach pained the thought of never seeing my family again.

"Are they holding this over everyone’s head?" He nodded his head. I looked at Asher with tears in my eyes, and he acknowledged not wanting to make me cry more, as he minds linked to me.

"If I promise to help your family, and whoever else. Will you work with us? I don't want to kill anyone; I just want peace on this land. Where the supernatural, and humans can live freely." He nodded his head, with tears, and a smile full of joy. I may have made things easy for him, but hard for myself.

I rushed out the room, not containing my tears. I was never this emotional with Drew, and now I am crying nonstop.

"That may be due to this one being a girl." I felt a pair of arms wrap around my shoulders. I leaned into his chest, and just let the tears come out.

"I haven't really seen you in weeks, what's going on my love?" I just continued to cry. Until he turned me around and kissed my forehead. I know he would forgive me if I did what I did, but would Drew? Would anyone? Is it going to be worth it, or will it be a dead end, but with a bad outcome? I forgot to break our link, which caused Asher to step back and look at me.

"What are you planning to do Vanessa?"
