Chapter 32
ALIAS
When I died, I was nothing. Just black. I didn't even exist, until I did. A black light was there, and then I was staring at Vanessa. She was side by side with Hades, and she must have made a deal with him. Her face was covered in guilt. She made a deal with the god of the underworld. Another light had flashed, and we were back at the palace. It took me a second, when I saw a guy holding onto Vanessa. Her face was covered in blood. I see Alec there, who was staring at me. There was a witch. What was going on? The guy had removed his shirt and began to clean her face. My wolf came alive inside, yet I wasn't as powerful as I once was. But he was angry. I quickly jumped and tackled him to the ground.
"Don't you ever touch my fucking mate" Alec had grabbed my shoulders and managed to take me off.
"Alias, she is no longer your mate. She mated with Asher. He is your king now." I heard him say, and I fainted. He went to her side again, disregarding what I said.
"How long have I been dead?" My hands went through my head. What has happened? Why aren't I king anymore...?
"You've been gone for two years, there's a lot to catch up on. But we need your help, in order to keep Drew alive." The name seemed so familiar, yet so not.
"Where is my son?" I yelled. Asher stood up and stepped forward to me. He was radiating off energy, that made me want to back down.
"That is my son, I raised that boy." The hairs on my neck were now standing up. That was my son, I died for my son and mate. She replaced me really quick.
"Asher, stand down." Vanessa perked up on her elbows, coughing up. I couldn't even recognize this woman I once loved. She made a deal with Hades, she re-mated, she changed herself. She stood up on her legs and walked over to me. The anger took over in me, as I ran grabbing her by the neck, and slamming into the wall. She stayed there completely neutral.
"Don't he have a right to be angry." She had held her hand up, stopping Asher and Alec from coming my way.
"What did you promise him? I asked her, but her face never changed. She was okay with what she'd done.
"That is between my mate and me. What I did, was to protect Drew, and this kingdom. You don't know what I've sacrificed in order to keep everyone safe. So, you don't get to tell me what is right and wrong." She yelled. I tightened my grip, but she managed to knee me in the stomach which released her.
"Don't mistake my kindness for weakness Alias. This is my kingdom, I am your queen, and he is your king. You died, and we carried on. Don't make me regret carrying your memory alive." I found myself pacing back and forth at this moment.
"Vanessa please. What did you promise?" I saw how she bit on her lip.
"I. I. promised half of my daughters hybrid powers to him. He wants to live among us." It was this moment I locked eyes with Asher, and he was fuming. I was mad for him, that she risked their daughter to bring me back.
"Take me back, I am not worth it." I knew I wanted to see my son. But this was not the way, risking another child.
"You promised our child's powers, and you didn't think to discuss it with me?!" He yelled, bringing him 4 inches from her face.
"There will be no pack, without Alias. I did what was best, as she will never even be eligible for the throne. Drew is. She will still be strong and have power. She just won't be queen ever." Asher was pissed, he slammed his fists into the wall.
"That was not your call to make Vanessa, I. I can't even look at you." He threw his hands in the air and stormed out of the room. I saw the pain that struck her. She was hurt beyond belief. She never did anything without reason, but sometimes she did without thinking. Now caring who she is hurting in the process.
"I need to go talk to him, but you can meet Drew tonight. Right now, everyone is mad at me." She ran after him.
"Hey man it's good to have you back." Alec says breaking up the tension.
"What have I missed? Mind catching me up?" He nodded and I followed him out.
ASHER
I stormed out of the attic, and just started walking. As a mate we will always back out mates up, but this time she was in the wrong. She never gave me a choice. Yet she is bringing back Hades and giving something that doesn't belong to her. She's always being someone who made choices, and she never thinks of what bad that could ever do. But he wasn't worth taking something from our daughter. But then that hits me. Is she already pregnant? I know they tend to get pregnant fast, but that fast. Or did he confirm something she wasn't sure of either.
"Asher, please stop!" I looked back, and there she was running after me.
"You have every reason to hate me, trust me I understand. But no one is getting hurt doing this. Everyone will end up okay." If she is about to be pregnant, the last thing I want is bad blood. But I am allowed to be mad.
"This was not your choice to make, taking something from a child that isn't even here yet!"
"I didn't have the option, as I was in a trance that almost killed me. Thank you for asking by the way. I am mad at myself, yet it won't do her any harm."
"Does she get a choice in this?" I asked her. I see how she was getting choked up.
"She isn't here to make this choice, but she won't have a future if we don't get rid of these shapeshifters Asher. You need to understand as well." I hate when she makes sense, I hate that even when she is wrong, she is right.
"Mom can we talk?" I see Drew walk up, looking guilty.
"I will leave you both to talk."
VANESSA
Asher had disappeared, and I saw Drew, my beautiful son, looking sad. I know I was wrong for yelling the way I did.
"Mom, I am sorry. I know you always say there is truth to every lie. But deep down maybe I have some resentment. I love you though, and I couldn't ask for a better mom. Something your birth parents could give you. But I just wanted you to hear them out." I looked at his pleading look and wrapped him in my arms.
" I understand, but you need to understand they are human. They belong in the human world. We cannot protect them. If you saw your birth dad come, would you want everything right then and there? Or would you need space first, and baby steps?" I felt the breath that he had taken. He came forward, looking at me.
"I already have a dad, and he's a great one. But I also want to know my birth father. He died saving us." He is still a kid at heart, so it's hard for me to get him in my point of thought.
"Do you want to meet your birth dad?" He looked in shock, hearing those words. A giant smile comes on his face.
"He is here?" I nodded at him, and just enjoyed seeing that little boy come out.
"Your father will be there, please try not to hurt his feelings. He's already feeling second place to Alias." He ran and hugged me real tight, before darting to the pack housing. I walked closing behind him, but his excitement was leaving me in the dust.
DREW
I don't know how I’ll react seeing my birth father for the first time. Will he be happy to see me? My legs were taking the joy out of running, as it was going a thousand miles forever. Regardless of that, Asher was my father. I love him, as he raised me as his own. Taught me to fight, read me bedtime stories, make sure we ate every nasty thing in sight. He stepped up and loved my mom even when she was gone. He held down the fort and didn't fall apart in front of me. I ran into the pack house, and I saw Alec in front of me. He had a huge smile which meant he was there.
"He is upstairs showering and changing he will be here in a bit." Alec is chowing down on some pizza, waiting for this lovely reunion. I see my dad next to him, with a not so happy look. I don't ever want him to feel like he is nothing less than my father. I learned a lot of things from him, that Alias or my mother couldn't teach me. Like school stuff since no one knew math back then. To drive a car, and he even had the sex talk with me. He showed me how to dress, how to ride a bike, hell he taught me to tie a tie. People find it embarrassing receiving condoms from your dad, but I wasn't. He said no to pups till I found my mate.
He told me the first time will always be the worst. He was right, as I had no previous experience. I didn't know what I was doing. I remember running into his room freaking out, that I will most likely never want to do that again. He laughed at me, but he talked me through it. Every Friday, we go out and watch a movie. This must be so overwhelming for him, and I just can't hurt him. I ran to my dad and wrapped my arms around him. He wrapped them around me and stayed there for a while.
"You'll always be my dad; you can never be replaced." I heard a sniffle out of him, and he was crying. Which caused me to cry. And now we are crying here, because we have a bond I never want to give up. Wasn't long before a cough interrupted us. I looked around to see a man standing next to my mom. He was light skinned; his hair was brown. I looked at him, and I don't have much of his features. I have his grey eyes, and his nose. I am the male version of my mom, well great.
"Drew, this is Alias. Your biological father." I didn't know that this would be really hard because I was holding onto Asher's hand pretty tight. Alias looked at me, and there was pain within him. I couldn't walk or speak. I just froze.
"Hey son, I know this is weird. I am sorry for not being the one to raise you. I never wanted to leave, but I am glad you've grown up to be the man I knew you'd be." He walked over to me and brought his hand out for me to shake.
"Just call me Alias, you have a great father. I am just overjoyed to finally meet you." Asher had pushed me forward to give me the push I needed, and my hand met with Alias. My wolf in me pulled him in, and my arms were around him. The tears started forming, as I felt him on my shoulder.
"It's nice to meet you." Were the only words I was able to get out. I met my father after so long, and it felt like a piece of my heart was found. I will now have him in my life, which I found great.
I don't think I ever want a life without my dad’s...
