Chapter 141 The suspicion

Olivia and Aiden helped me to sit in the car, and she drove me to the flat. The flat she bought wasn't far from the hospital, indeed. We got there in five minutes. They helped me to get out, and they helped me to climb up the stairs. When we were up, Olivia looked at me apologetically.

"I am sorry, Asher. I should have thought about you when I bought this flat." She said, but I shook my head.

"How would you know you will get back a paralyzed mate?"

"You are not paralyzed. You are injured, and that isn't the same." She said before she turned to the door to open it.

We all moved in. The flat was nice. It mirrored Olivia. I was certain that she furnished the entire place. It felt like home.

Aiden led me to the living room, and we sat down.

"Okay, guys." Olivia clapped her hands. "I think it is time for me to make some lunch."

"Oh, yes, mummy, please." Aiden asked her mother, using a tone that made all of us laugh. Obviously, he had enough of the food, which he got in the hospital. He was longing for his mother's dishes. And I had to admit that I was missing that as well.

Until Olivia was busy in the kitchen, Aiden occupied me fully. He told me everything about the pack. Even if I thought he had run out of stories, I had to realise that I was wrong. I liked to listen to him. There was a time, while I was captivated, that I thought he would grow up as a vampire, respecting and keeping vampire rules, but I was wrong with that as well. Aiden was a werewolf from head to toe. He loved to be a werewolf, and he loved to live like one. The way he talked about the pack and Flint made me certain that he wanted to become an Alpha as soon as he reached the required age.

I saw that in advance we would have some arguments about that, as his age didn't match his look at all. An Alpha should be at least eighteen to take its duties. However, if he grows like this, he will be a complete adult in a few years.

"The lunch is ready." Olivia peered into the room, and we both stood up at the same time. I still needed the crutches to move, but at least I didn't need to lean on my mate and my son.

Olivia made a delicious meal again, and I was so delighted to taste it. When we were finished eating, I thanked the Moon Goddess inside me for letting me taste the food my mate made again.

The day passed quickly, and I found myself in bed with my loved one. Feeling her next to me made me feel the need, but I knew I wasn't in that state yet. The fact that I couldn't move freely embarrassed me enough, but I knew that would leave some mental damage to me if I would let her help me in bed as well.

I kept her in my arms, leaving a quilt between us, to keep me warm. We both fell asleep quickly. However, my bad dreams didn't let me have a peaceful night. I dreamed about Lucy again, who made sure I was aware that they would take Aiden with them.

In the morning, my mood probably showed that I haven't had a good night.

"Perhaps you just need to get used to the new place." Olivia said, and I nodded. I didn't want to bring this up for her again, as I knew what she would say.

However, my mood didn't change, and it just turned worse when Walter appeared.

"I just came to check on you, Asher." He said, while he was approaching me.

"I think my bones are healing well. You don't need to come often." I said, but my words left Walter indifferent.

"I think you are doing well, but you still need rest. I don't recommend you to go back to the pack yet."

I frowned.

"Why are you so against it?"

He sighed, while he put his equipment back into his bag.

"I promised Olivia I will fix you. And I like to keep my promises." He said, and he stood up. "I'll come again in two days. Don't move a lot, and you will be fine soon."

"Walter, I am a doctor as well. You don't need to come so often." I repeated, but he only smiled a little, then shook his head. "Like I said, I promised her I will take care of you." He said, then he left the room. I stayed there on my own, and I felt I could kill him.

The problem was that I couldn't stop thinking about my dream, and since I had time to think about it, I had another thought in my mind.

What if Olivia wasn't the only reason he wanted to keep us here? What if he wanted to keep us here, so Harry's partners could find the opportunity to take Aiden? What if they just waited for the perfect time to kidnap my son?

These kinds of thoughts were on my mind when Olivia entered the room. I started to worry immediately.

"Where is Aiden?" I asked her, and she looked at me with a smile.

"He is in the kitchen."

"Alone?" I asked her again, and this time she looked at me with a frown.

"Yes. Walter left a few minutes ago."

I sighed.

"Olivia, I want to get back to the pack. I can rest there as well."

She looked at me and shook her head.

"I know there is Dr. Miller, and I know he would take care of you, but Walter is so much more experienced. Only a few weeks and we can go back. Just please hold your ego back just a little."

She said, and that annoyed me a bit.

"It isn't about my ego, it is about Aiden."
