Chapter 116 From Undrafted To Drafted Agents.

Chapter 116 From Undrafted To Drafted Agents.
Roman's POV

I stared at the item inside the box for a moment, unable to believe my eyes. Inside this box was a childhood picture of mine engraved into a customized puck.

The back had one of Asher's too, and I literally almost melted.

Then I took out a customized jersey from my favourite hockey club, Seattle Kraken, one that had my name and birthdate on it as the number.

Then a customized mouth guard, a padded shirt, a massage gun and even tickets to go see the national game that was coming in a month. I had been so worried that I wouldn't make it yet he…

“You did all this for me?” I asked in disbelief because everything was literally customized. They were all in my name and birthdate.

“That's not all.” He whispered with a shy smile and I gasped in expectation.

I placed everything else on the bed as I took out a birthday card, not wanting to open it yet so I kept it safely beside me.

That was when I noticed a bunch of documents sitting at the bottom of the box.

“What are these?” I asked as I took them out, staring at the blank page in confusion.

He gestured for me to open it so I let out a sigh and did as he wanted. When I flipped to the first page, I froze.

I could hear my own heart beating so fast that it could burst out of my chest.

“No way….”

I flipped through all the pages, my eyes widening in disbelief as I read those words on the documents again and again. To be sure I wasn't going crazy.

“You….how… this… what…?”

I couldn't form a coherent word as I looked up at Asher and he smiled at me.

“Is this real? This isn't a joke?” I managed to whisper and he nodded with a light shrug.

I got up at once and he got up too, an excited look on his face. “How did you do it? How come? I can't believe this… are you messing with me?”

“I'm not! It's real. I promise.” He whispered as the papers fell from my grip and I took his hands in mine. “I found out that we didn't really need to depend on our dads anymore.”

“But how did you… get both of us signed to the same team? We were never drafted! And to the Seattle Kraken of all teams? How?”

I still couldn't believe it. We haven't even graduated yet! And such a high-level NHL team actually signed both of us up?

“We're undrafted free agents, you know? It was easier than I expected but with your mom's help, it was way too easy. We both got in. Now we can play side by side without giving a fuck about our dads.” He explained and I just stared at him in disbelief.

This had to be the most thoughtful thing anyone had ever done for me.

“Love… when did you think of all this?” I questioned in shock, trying to think of how much he must have gone through to get these done.

“A while back. I thought it made no sense until I did my research and found out we could make it. Then I talked with your mom and she—”

I didn't let him complete his words as I pulled him into my arms and hugged him tightly. He chuckled softly and wrapped his arms around me, holding me close.

“God, I love you so much. I don't fucking deserve you…” I whispered but he hushed me up at once as he shook his head.

“You deserve better.”

“There's no one better than you!” I intercepted immediately and he chuckled before nodding. “I still can't believe you did all this for me. For us. How did I get so lucky?”

“Happy birthday again, babe.” He finally said as he kissed my cheek and I gripped his chin gently.

My lips found his and we kissed passionately, our arms wrapped around each other as I let myself melt into his arms.

“Just to confirm… we're actually gonna become drafted hockey players who play for the NHL, right? Or am I dreaming?” I muttered against his lips, still shaken and in disbelief.

“Yeah, we are. We'll sign in two months.” He replied as he picked up a document and showed me. “March is only two months away.”

“You really did it!” I yelled in excitement as I lifted him off the ground and he yelped for me to put him down.

After twirling around with him for a whole minute, I let him down, making him slap my shoulder in feigned annoyance.

“We gotta practice more now. We have to prove to everyone else that we deserve this. That we earned it. Because your mom did open the doors, but our skills are what made it easy for us to be drafted.” He muttered after a moment of silence and I nodded in understanding.

There was nothing I wanted more than to be able to play with my boyfriend right beside me. On the same fucking team.

It was a dream come true.

A soft buzzing sound suddenly filled the air and Asher searched around for his phone, his gaze darkening when he saw the caller ID.

He immediately hung up and turned the phone off, making me frown.

“Who was it?”

“Who else would it be? Kieran, obviously.” He replied as I pulled him into my arms and he leaned into me.

“I should probably teach him a lesson once we're back. We don't need to put on an act anymore, right?” I asked with a grin and he grinned too to confirm my words.

It was great to have such a smart boyfriend. I was so fucking obsessed.

“I left cake for you by the way.” I added and the way his eyes lit up made my heart swell. “It's in the fridge—”

“Wait.” He suddenly said and I froze before turning to him.

“Yeah?”

“Ever had birthday sex before?”
