Chapter 115 Birthday Surprise.
Chapter 115 Birthday Surprise.
Asher's POV
Of all the moments that I could expect to be asked this question, I didn't imagine it in a hospital. Not that I gave a fuck, I would marry this man anytime, anywhere.
“Ro…”
“I mean… since Ethan was talking so much about, uhm, a honeymoon… I'm just saying… Don't you think— I mean—”
He was fumbling pretty badly right now, and I couldn't help but chuckle softly at how cute he looked.
“I get it.” I finally stopped him and he rubbed the back of his neck nervously.
“It slipped out by accident.” He muttered with a sigh and I could have sworn I heard my heart sink.
Why did I want a proposal from him so bad?
“It's fine, I would have said no anyway.” I lied and he chuckled even more nervously as he stared everywhere but me. “Can we go home now?”
“Now?”
“Yeah, now, I hate it here.” I muttered, stretching till I felt bones snap into place. “Besides, we still have to celebrate your birthday the right way.”
“I’ll go talk to the nurse and get you discharged.” He replied, and I could see he was still nervous.
Just as he got up to leave, I stopped him. He looked back at me in confusion as I pulled him down and kissed him deeply.
He melted against me after a second and relaxed back into the bed, his lips moving against mine as he pulled me even closer to him.
“I wasn't kidding when I asked that.” He whispered against my lips as I opened my eyes to see him staring at me lovingly. “Now, next year, next two years, next five years, or the next fifty years… I'll wait till you're ready. You're the only one I wanna get married to.” He continued, his forehead connected to mine and I couldn't help but smile.
I wanted to tell him I was ready now. But…
“I'm not sure I wanna wait that long. But let's get out of here first.” I replied with a soft chuckle and he chuckled too.
Then his lips captured mine once again as I wrapped my arms around his neck. Just then, the door swung open and we both turned in panic to see a nurse walk in, a knowing smile on her lips.
In the past, I would have pushed him away from me in an instant. But what was there to hide? He was my boyfriend after all.
I ended up burying my face in his chest instead while he wrapped his arms around me, a soft chuckle leaving his lips.
“I'm sorry to interrupt your beautiful moment.” The nurse started as she approached us and we could see that she was friendly. “But the doctor said you are free to go home. Just sign these documents, and remember to come back in two days for another shot. Just to make sure you don't get an infection.”
“Thank you.” Roman muttered as she handed him the documents and I peeked out of his strong arms to see him sign the discharge papers.
“You're free to go.” She finally said as she turned to leave. “And you can continue with your… stuff. I won't interrupt you anymore.”
“Oh god.” I whispered in embarrassment as I buried my face in his chest again and Roman chuckled softly.
“Come on, let's go.”
We left the hospital after rescheduling another appointment in two days like the nurse had ordered. I ended up dozing off when we got into the cab that took us back to the cabin.
When I felt Roman pick me up into his arms, my eyes slowly opened as I took in our environment to see that we were back at the cabin.
“We're home.” He muttered with a smile as he gently placed me on the bed and I stretched once again.
“You know I had a lovely dream.” I muttered, my brows furrowed as I tried to remember what it was. “I was really happy in it. And you were there too. I can't remember everything but we were in the rink.”
“Don't think too much about it. I'm sure you'll remember it soon enough.” He replied as he stood up but I held him back.
“I have something for you.” I said softly and he looked at me with raised brows.
“For my birthday?” He asked as I got up and nodded. “You didn't have to—”
“Shh.”
His lips thinned when I hushed him and I got on my knees, making his eyes widen.
What a pervert.
I bent down until I was looking under the bed and then grabbed the box that was sitting there.
“It's not much, I know.” I whispered as I finally sat beside him and he looked at me in disbelief. “But happy birthday again, Ro.”
“Baby…”
“I never thought I'd ever get to be so happy with you. It feels like a dream that I'm scared to wake up from. Because I keep thinking if I deserve this amount of happiness with you.” I said with a small smile and his gaze softened as he took one of my hands.
“It's not a dream. This is real. And you deserve every good thing in this world, love.” He whispered as he placed a soft kiss on my knuckles.
Was it safe to say that I was madly in love? And that if we ever broke up, I might actually go insane?
“I just… I almost still can't believe that this is real, you know? I went from hating you to not being able to do without you. I can't help but wonder if you cast a spell on me.” I chuckled as I spoke and when he gently wiped a tear from my cheek, I realized I was crying.
“I love you so much, Roman. I know it makes me look stupid—”
“If love makes you stupid then I'm the most stupid person on this planet.” He cut me off and I chuckled again, the box slightly wobbling in my hands.
“Alright, enough talk. Here.” I sniffed as I handed him the box and he looked at me for a moment before staring at the box.
“I'm nervous to open this.” He whispered and my face fell.
“Why?”
“What if I don't deserve it? What if I can't cherish it enough? What if—”
“It's nothing big!” I muttered with a soft chuckle as he looked at me with an expression that told me he could cry. “You haven't even seen what's in there.”
“Alright, I'm opening it.” He said as he heaved out a sigh, making me snicker.
He opened it carefully, undoing the bow I had made like he was scared of destroying it.
I doubt he knew how precious he was to me.
When he finally opened the box, I watched as his breath hitched, his eyes widening as he turned to me in disbelief.
“You… did this for me?”
