Feeling strange
"The sound of violence is music to my ears. It's the symphony of chaos," the corners of my lips turned up into a wide smile, revealing the fangs in my mouth, "now sing for me."
The first gun went off. And following it was a blur of bullets that whizzed through the air. My body moved on instinct, weaving and dodging every shot as I propelled my body forward.
I made it to the first agent. My hand shot out and curled around the barrel of the gun before snatching it away. Opposite hand swung out, claws bared, and swiped across the agent's throat. Blood spurted from their neck, and they choked on it. Their hand reached up to the wound and crimson dripped from their lips.
Then they fell to the floor.
And I moved to the next one.
Kick, swipe, dodge, strike. More blood, and another body hit the floor.
Punch, jump, swing out my leg and knock an agent over with a blow to the shin. When he fell to his knees, I lifted my foot and brought it down hard on the back of his head, causing the agent to slam his face on the marble floor. I heard the sickening crack and witnessed the splatter of red.
Another came up behind me and I reached back to wrap my arms around his neck. Using my body weight to manipulate my momentum, I jumped up and flew back over the agent, and with my arms around his neck, he flung back as my feet landed on the floor and I tossed him to the wolves.
More guns went off. Flashes of light and magic filled the air as bullets were reflected. I could smell the sour scent of fear and spice of excitement in the air. The magic from the witches made the air buzz on my skin, and each time a bullet hit a magical shield, there was a sound like thunder that rang through the air and hit our eardrums.
I didn't stop to look back at the others as my body moved on pure feral instinct. It was as if I was outside of my body and watching someone else become a beast. Claws sliced through skin like butter and fangs sank into flesh and tore out throats.
Agents dropped around me. Blood pooled on the floor. Snarls and growls reached my ears, along with the grunts and screams of strife.
As we made our way through those first ten agents more joined us. A silent alarm was going off by now and everyone in the building would have gotten the alert. They were under attack and going on high alert.
Bodies filed in from the hallways. More guns went off. But even before my DNA woke up, I was one of the top agents here. Now I was so much higher over them with the insane new speed and strength my body possessed. None of them stood a chance.
Still moving, still hitting and swiping, clawing and attacking, I slowly made my way to the main hall. So many faces I had seen throughout my life were falling around me. The white surfaces of the halls and doors splattered with crimson and under the lights. The contrast was striking.
Everywhere I went, I left death in my wake. To some, the sight might horrify, but there was an Alpha hot on my heels who loved seeing the power of his mate in action.
The wolves spread out. Massive, furred bodies covering ground and making their way through other halls and levels with agents. Witches and warlocks covered them, all moving into unspoken groups.
Blasts of magic charged the air and growls echoed off the walls.
But I was leaving them behind with one place in mind. I knew without a doubt he was up there in his office. Sitting behind his desk.
Donovan was waiting for me.
I made it to the hall leading to the main elevator that would take me straight to him. There were agents in my way. More prey for the hunter.
Two came at me.
Jumping to the right, I kicked off the wall into a spinning kick. My boot landed heavily on the side of an agent's head, and he went down into the ground. I grabbed the other by the neck and my claws dug into her throat and closed around her windpipe. When I yanked, her body dropped, and slimy flesh squelched in my fist.
Three more were coming, and I finally used the throwing knives hidden in my jacket. My first throw landed in the middle of a forehead and a body went down. The second in the throat and her body crashed. The third agent got so close, I spun around and jammed the knife directly into his chest.
Perspiration formed along my brow and as the path to the elevator cleared, I straightened up and take a deep breath. Only for a second before taking a step over a fallen agent and heading for the shiny metal doors ahead. It was a long enough second for Apollo to silently catch up with me.
He followed me into the elevator. That energy between us was wild and fierce and the instant the doors closed, his hands were on me.
Apollo pulled me against his chest, and before I could make any noise, his mouth was on mine. His lips swallowed my surprised moan and his powerful hands held me tight.
The kiss was full of passion and emotions that we didn't have time to talk about. We both knew that this could be our last chance to touch and hold one another.
I could taste the blood on his lips, and he didn't mind that taste of it on mine. Our messy hands pawed each other, and I pulled him against me as if I could merge into him. My skin sparked where he touched me, and my heart pounded wildly. At this rate, I would never catch my breath and I was fine as long as Apollo filled my lungs.
The elevator slowed, and Apollo groaned as he forced himself to pull away from me. For the briefest moment, he braced his forehead against mine and I held onto his forearms.
"Apollo..." I spoke, words feeling strange on my tongue.
