CHAPTER FIFTY-EIGHT

ELENA'S POV

I had never sensed anything so dark and threatening as the new figure loomed at the edge of the clearing. His flaming eyes were fixed on us, as if he were evaluating each of us individually, and it sent a shiver down my spine.

Stefen's voice was low as he tightened his hold on my hand. "Remain near me, Elena. We have no idea what we're up against.

Alpha Kieran moved forward; his posture ready for battle yet his face impassive. "What do you want, and who are you?"

With a sly grin on his lips, the figure cocked his head slightly. "Alpha Kieran... Alpha Stefen... Both of you have meddled for too long.

Stefen's gaze grew strained. "I had a question for you. Who are you?

The man laughed, his tone scornful and icy. "Your worst nightmare." He moved forward, his very existence seeming to drain the clearing's brightness. "I am much more than you are ready to handle, even though you have dealt with my lieutenant."

Despite Kieran's solid tone, I could sense the strain in his voice. "And what exactly are you looking for?"

His grin got bigger. "The prophecy." The child's strength. Everything.

I became enraged and moved to stand next to Stefen. "You won't receive anything. We won't allow it.

Something dark and eerie entered his eyes as he gazed at me. The Luna, ah. So resolute, so protective. But you won't be saved by willpower alone.

Stefen snarled in a lethal tone. "You are mistaken if you believe that we are afraid of you."

The sound of the figure's laughter was icy. "A fear? Alpha, no. I am relying on it. Dark energy swirled about him as he lifted his palm, the power radiating like a storm on the verge of breaking.

Kieran's voice was harsh as he shouted out to his troops. Prepare yourselves, everyone!

The figure's eyes remained fixed on me without flinching. "Luna, your disobedience is hilarious. However, I will make sure the child achieves the greatness that is meant for them.

With a stiff physique, Stefen stepped in front of me. "You're not going to take her. You'll need to overcome us all.

The figure's eyes grew icier as his smile vanished. "If you want it that way."

He suddenly released a surge of evil energy, and the force of it struck us like a tidal wave. I staggered back, fighting to keep my head up while my heart raced. With their combined power, Stefen and Kieran struggled to retain their footing against the blast.

The mind-link resonated with Leila's voice. He is too strong. A fresh strategy is required.

Beside me, the silver wolf snarled, its eyes flashing with resolve. Elena, stay with me. You won't be touched by him.

However, the figure only chuckled and advanced one more step. "Do you have anything else? You're in over your head.

Stefen and Kieran exchanged a glance, silent understanding visible in their eyes. Kieran's voice was harsh as he stated, "We take him together."

With a nod, Stefen transformed into a wolf. "So let's get this over with."

The figure was attacked by the two alphas, who moved swiftly and forcefully, but he was prepared. With a smile of evil enjoyment on his face, he easily sidestepped their blows and then retaliated with a burst of energy that drove them back.

He hissed, "Is this the best you have?" "Alphas, I was expecting more from you."

I watched as the two fought against him, my pulse racing. Despite their might, this new foe was unrelenting and had overwhelming power. This couldn't continue for much longer.

He hardly batted an eye, slapping her away with a sweep of his wrist as Leila entered the fray, her wolf form ripping at the figure.

"Leila!" I ran to her and sobbed.

She moaned as she stumbled to her feet. I'm all right. But this must end quickly.

With its gaze fixed on the figure, the silver wolf shifted to my side. Together, we fight.

I got brave and kept my ground, clutching the silver wolf's fur. "We're not giving up," I answered, maintaining my composure in spite of my anxiety.

The dark, derisive sneer of the figure reappeared. You're not giving up, are you? I'll have to show you what true power looks like after that.

He suddenly held out his hand, and the sky grew gloomy, the shadows surrounding him deepening. I could feel the cold, stifling weight of his might bearing down on us.

The anxious tone of Stefen's voice cut through the mind-link. Return, Elena! We'll take care of this.

But I couldn't abandon them. "No, Stefen. We battle together.

With malicious eyes, the figure fixed me with his gaze. "Luna, do you want to fight? Excellently.

He released another surge of energy, this time more powerful. As we resisted the power, I braced myself and held onto the silver wolf. Despite the shaking of the earth under us, I remained still, my resolve outstripping my terror.

With coordinated strikes coming from both sides, Kieran and Stefen closed in. The figure's power seemed unbounded as he easily blocked them.

With a tone of icy delight, he said, "You're just delaying the inevitable." “I have control over the prophecy.”

However, he was ready to attack again when a howl from a distance reverberated through the trees; it was a cry of strength and solidarity. My heart was pounding as I looked up and saw the call. reinforcements.

Hope surged in Stefen's eyes. "They're present."

The figure's smile faded as his face grew serious. "Do you think anything will change with more numbers?"

But I felt a fresh feeling of optimism when the allied wolves came out of the jungle, strong and united. With furious intent in their eyes, they surrounded the person.

Alpha Kieran spoke louder, speaking to the fresh arrivals. "We put an end to this together."

The figure's icy, calculating stare scanned the area. "Stupid people. Do you believe that numbers matter?

Stefen's voice was full of defiance as he hissed. "We can defeat you without using numbers. You will never comprehend anything we have.

"Oh? What is that, too? The figure scoffed.

Stefen said steadily, "Unity." "And the fortitude that results from defending the people we care about."

The figure's patience eventually gave out as his eyes hardened. "Enough of this. If you refuse to give up, I will annihilate you all.

Despite his last burst of energy, the linked packs managed to hold their ground, their combined might rebuffing his influence. The air was heavy with tension as the two armies battled, causing the earth to tremble.

The silver wolf howled fiercely, its body glowed brilliantly, just when I feared we could be losing ground. For the first time, the figure faltered, his confidence faltering.

Kieran used the diversion by cutting through the figure's barriers and lunging at him. When their combined power eventually prevailed, Stefen joined him.

The person stumbled backward, disbelief and anger on his face. "This... this isn't feasible..."

Kieran spoke in a calm but decisive tone. "It's finished. Go immediately and don't come back.

The figure growled, hate shining in his eyes. It's not over yet. When I return, the prophesy will belong to me.

He disappeared into the darkness before anybody could respond, leaving us standing in the battle's aftermath.

The pack members' labored breathing was the only sound to break the quiet as it returned. I knew this was far from finished, even though we had won.

Stefen's eyes softened as he turned to face me. "Are you alright?"

Despite my heart still pounding, I nodded. Yes, but he will return. I sense it.

Kieran grimaced as he peered about. Next, we get ready. He won't have the benefit of surprise the next time.

I felt a wave of pride and resolve wash over me as I gazed at the pack. "We'll face whatever comes our way together."

The silver wolf's eyes remained locked on the horizon as we reunited, a somber reminder that the storm was still approaching. This was only the start.
