Witch Land Rescue Mission
Leia – POV
I saw Susan crying, her face a mess of tears, and I noticed Xavier and Reo looking at her with concern. "What's going on?" I asked, my voice filled with alarm. Susan was sniffling, her body wracked with sobs.
"Leia," she choked out, and I rushed over to hug her, trying to calm her down. I looked to Xavier and Kai for answers, my heart pounding in fear.
"Jennifer has been arrested and put in prison," Xavier said, worry etching his face.
"Why was she arrested? What did she do wrong?" I asked, my mind spinning.
"Jennifer aided the Black Moon Pack, the one held responsible for the death of Witch Queen Veronica," Susan stammered, barely able to get the words out.
I couldn't understand it. "Why would Heather do such a thing? Wasn't Jennifer a Rogue witch? How can she hold her in Prison when she was the reason for Jennifer's exile?" I asked, confusion and anger mingling in my voice.
"I know, but Queen Heather had warned Jennifer never to aid anyone in war," Susan answered, her voice breaking. "But Jennifer didn't listen to her command and was summoned to explain why she aided the Black Moon Pack, an enemy of Witch Land."
"So Heather didn't agree with Jennifer's side of the story and put her in prison?" I asked, piecing together the details. Susan nodded, tears streaming down her face.
"I can't go to Witch Land to help Jennifer or ask my rogue friends for assistance, as we are banished from entering. I heard this news from a security officer who had Jennifer's phone and told me about her case," Susan explained, her grief palpable. Her care and connection with Jennifer were evident, and now my mind was consumed with worry about how to help Jennifer get out of Prison.
I felt a newfound determination welling up inside me. Jennifer had come to our aid; it was our turn to help her. Looking into the worried faces of my friends, I knew we had to act fast. Together, we would find a way to bring Jennifer back to safety.
"Susan, we will find a way to get Jennifer out, okay? Trust me," I said, trying to console Susan, who was crying uncontrollably and seemed on the verge of collapsing. I guided her gently to the guest room in our Manor, aiming to provide her with some rest and peace. I stayed by her side until her weeping subsided, and slowly, Susan slept after feeling exhausted from crying. I exited the room and found Xavier and Kai waiting in the hallway.
"Do you have any ideas about how we can help Jennifer?" I asked him, the weight of our situation heavy on my shoulders.
"Nothing comes to mind right now," Xavier admitted, his eyes reflecting a similar worry. "But we will find something. Let's get some sleep for now."
Part of me wanted to stay up and rack my brains for a solution, but I knew Xavier was right. I was exhausted and needed to rest to think clearly and develop viable ideas the next morning.
With a heavy heart, I joined my mates in bed. The warmth and comfort of their presence soothed my troubled mind. I was surprised I didn't have to struggle to sleep, as it usually happens when my mind is worried. But the reassuring presence of my mates helped me drift off to a much-needed rest, preparing me to face the next day's challenges in rescuing Jennifer.
********
The following day, I woke up to an empty bed, with a note informing me that Kai and Xavier had gone to the training grounds. I walked to my room, showered, dressed, and checked on Susan, who was still sleeping. I asked the maids to cook breakfast for Kai and Xavier, who would soon return from training. Then, I sat with my coffee in the gazebo, sipping it slowly to wake my sleepy brain up.
Someone has to invade Witch Land to rescue Jennifer from the Prison, and I think I'm the one to do it. Since I am a witch and many in Witch Land don't know me, I can slip in unnoticed.
"Did you find a way to get Jennifer back?" I jumped at the desperate voice and turned to find Susan looking at me with sleepy eyes, having just woken up to come and find me.
"What if I invade Witch Land? I am a witch too, and I'm not banished from that land," I added, explaining my idea.
"What!" I heard Xavier and Kai exclaim in unison.
"No, you are not going," Kai declared, his voice firm. I sighed.
"I agree with Kai," Xavier said. I sighed again, understanding my mates' concern but feeling the need to go on this mission alone.
"It is not a one-man job to get Jennifer out; she's kept in a high-security prison tower. But Leia, you can walk into Witch Land since you're not banished, and the spell of security will let you enter," Susan explained, trailing off with worry, and biting her lip. "I know your mates won't let you go to Witch Land, but please, can you help me?"
"Xavier and Kai, I understand your concerns, but please trust me. I can manage myself," I added, trying to assure them. Although Kai and Xavier were unhappy, they nodded in understanding, and I was grateful. I didn't want to start arguing, but I would have gone anyway if they hadn't agreed.
"Susan, I will help you. I have the power of two magic elements, which gives me the strength of two witches in one," I said, and Susan smiled and nodded in agreement.
"You are right," Susan acknowledged.
"So it's decided. I will go to Witch Land, find a way to get Jennifer out, and keep the three of you posted," I concluded, feeling a mix of determination and apprehension about the mission ahead.
