Third Person’s POV

Twenty-three years ago, Mr. Johnes wasn't just a wealthy businessman. He was also an influential ally to several powerful packs because his family possessed an ancient bloodline gifted with healing abilities and old magic.

His wife had just given birth to their first child, a little girl they named Mayra Johnes.The night they brought her home, the estate celebrated.

Unknown to them, one of Mr. Johnes' closest business partners had secretly joined forces with a rogue wolf obsessed with obtaining the Johnes bloodline. The rogues believed a child born from that lineage could awaken dormant powers if raised under the right conditions. Late that night, during a violent thunderstorm, the estate was attacked and several guards were killed. The nursery caught fire after lanterns were knocked over during the fight. Amid the chaos, a hooded woman slipped into the nursery, took the crying infant, and disappeared before anyone realized she was gone.

When the fire was extinguished, all that remained in the crib was a tiny silver bracelet engraved with the initials M.J. Everyone assumed the baby had perished in the flames but not Mrs. Johnes, she never believed it, something within her didn’t agree with that.

And for twenty-three years, she celebrated her daughter's birthday and kept the nursery untouched. She searched every village, every orphanage, every neighboring pack. People called her delusional. Her husband never stopped searching either, but eventually accepted they might never find her. His wife never did.

Mrs. Johnes felt something she couldn't explain when she first met Raven at the anniversary party. It wasn't because Raven resembled her, It was instinct. Every mother knows her child. She noticed little things. The tiny birthmark behind Raven's left ear. The way Raven tilted her head when listening.The smile that looked exactly like her husband's. She convinced herself she was imagining it.

But her heart couldn’t take it so she made sure to find Raven’s DNA secretly asked the family doctor to perform a DNA comparison. She couldn't bear to ask Raven directly because it was absurd. When the results arrived, they confirmed that Raven was their biological daughter. Mrs. Johnes broke down in tears, Mr. Johnes had to sit down because his legs gave out.

Instead of telling Raven immediately, they invited both Caleb and Raven for dinner.

Mrs. Johnes cooked herself because she wanted to do something a mother would do. The atmosphere was warm. After dessert, Mr. Johnes quietly placed an old wooden box on the table. Inside were Raven's silver baby bracelet, Tiny knitted shoes, a baby blanket embroidered with "Mayra.” Family photographs taken after her birth.

Mrs. Johnes started already crying and the atmosphere changed. Caleb already knew what was happening and Raven’s eyes grew wider not knowing what to do. He held Raven’s hand tighter part of him regretting bringing her over. She just went through so much and he didn’t want her to face anymore pain.

"I know what I'm about to tell you sounds impossible... but from the first day I saw you, my heart recognized you before my mind ever did." Mrs. Johnes said taking Raven’s hand, her whole body trembling from the physical contact from the person she has longed for.

Raven laughs nervously, “ whats going on here?” she asks her voice trembling.

“You are our daughter Mayra…” Mr. Johnes interjects, Caleb gasps strangely his thoughts conforming. Raven laughs again not because it's funny, because it's unbelievable. She already met her evil parents now another ones show up?

"No." she says yanking her arm from Mrs Johnes. She shakes her head repeatedly. "Please don't do this." She stands. “Caleb please take me away from here, I already lost one family, I buried that pain. Please don’t do this to me,I can't survive hoping again” she says tears streaming down her eyes. Mr Johnes takes out the DNA report but she refuses it and walks outside. Caleb follows quietly, they sit beneath the moon.Then he says something simple. "You know... I recognized you as my mate before I understood why." She looks at him. He continues, "Sometimes the heart knows long before the mind is ready to believe."

He takes the DNA report and hands it to her.

" I know they obtained the samples through shady mean but I think... you should at least read it." she reads it and her eyes widen in shock, looks at Caleb and he just nods. She then gets up and heads inside again.

Mrs. Johnes immediately apologizes. "If we've hurt you, we'll never mention it again." That line breaks Raven. Because she realizes, they aren't trying to claim her. They're trying to protect her.

She quietly says, "If... if this is true..." Mrs. Johnes looks up hopefully. "would it be alright if I came for a few days?" she adds.

Mrs. Johnes bursts into tears, Mr. Johnes smiles for what feels like the first time in decades.

"I can't promise I'll know how to be your daughter..." She looks at them both. "...but I'd like to learn." She adds smiling.
