Chapter 44 Is she cheating on him?

Chapter 44 Is she cheating on him?
44\. Is she cheating on him?

London,

With a release of exhausted sigh, Alpha Damien sat back in his chair. His tired eyes glared at the laptop screen and his slightly trembling fingers hit the keys reluctantly on the keyboard.

Since he landed, he has been working endlessly with very few hours of sleep. Almost no sleep.

His lips twitched irritatingly as he looked at the notification flashing on the screen of his phone. One of his ex-girlfriends he had long forgotten was messaging him constantly. It started ever since she spotted him in a club two nights ago.

He had been there on the request of his English friends. They were college mates. How could they not have a small get together with all the boys?

Though there was no time to have fun, Damien anyways made some adjustments and agreed to hit a club with his friends. He had made an effort to not catch any ex-girlfriend's or any other women's eyes, he failed miserably.

He had not just caught Anny's eyes but also her unwanted time which she was more than willing to waste whilst calling him.

"What the!" He grabbed the phone and put it on flight mode.

"When I say I am not interested, I am not interested." He said, looking at the phone as if saying it directly to Anny.

Damien set the phone aside and focused on his work. There was no room for thinking about other women when Aurora Collins had stolen his heart forever.

'You could tell her about having a girlfriend.' Hunter, his wolf remarked.

"I wished to, but I do not want anyone to know about Aura unless I announce our wedding date." Damien replied, resuming the mail he was typing.

'You miss her, don't you?' Hunter's interrogation made Damien pause and take a heavy sigh.

His shoulders slumped and teeth sunk in his lips. "I miss her a lot. There was nothing I could do to avoid the extension. The deal is important."

Damien closed his eyes only to have his lovely Aura's face flashing on the screen of his lashes. She was serene. Her touch was like the first shower of the monsoon. He so wished to bathe in it and achieve some peace. She could do what no other luxurious possession or a woman can do— which is to provide him peace and a healthy state of mind.

It was exactly how he used to feel in the embrace of his mother as a kid. His teenage years bought years filled with atrocities and no one to give him comfort as he desired. His adult years had been a little good when he found his mate, and after her death, it was Aura who provided him what his destined mate could not provide him.

'I miss her too, damn it.' Hunter's expression brought Damien to the real world.

Straightening his back, he flickered his eyes a few times in order to kick away sluggishness that was trying to seep into him. He put his fingers back on the keys and resumed typing the mail again.

'The strangest thing is that she is not my destined mate but I love her. She does not have a wolf. I can still feel her becoming an integral part of me.' Damien's mouth curved upwards into a sweet grin.

It was the same wolf that had once warned him to stay away from Aurora as he did not like her much.

'Can you wrap up your work quickly and help us go back home soon? I miss her so much.'

"Just a few more meetings with the clients regarding the Sahara project, and then we will be done. I am more eager than you to see her." Damien replied, his lips smiling hopefully as he went back to workaholic mode.

Aurora Collins was not a human, but an enchantress. She had bewitched Damien so badly that if he needed to work, he had to impel her distracting thoughts in the furthest corner of his mind.

With a bit of struggle Damien managed to drive her thoughts away and work tirelessly.

He attended three meetings online and checked several emails which were important. He was preparing to go on another meeting online when the door of his cabin was set agape and plodded inside a smirking Peter Dursely.

"Hey!"

"Hi," Damien greeted him in an exhausted voice.

"Still working?" He settled himself in one of the chairs on the other side of the desk.

"Hmm, I have some more meetings to go before I finally call it a deal accomplished."

Damien cut his gaze from his face to look back at his screen.

It was two days after his arrival in London that Peter joined him too. He was here to meet someone Damien couldn't care less about. That still did not mean Peter would leave him alone. He clung next to him like they were best friends and decided to stay in London until Damien was done.

"What brings you here in my cabin on such a lovely London afternoon?" A flash of amusement brightened Damien's face.

The day was too good for someone like Peter to spend with a friend during his working hours than with a hot sexy chick!

"A matter you should be worrying about." Peter's reply came.

"What do you mean?" Damien observed his not-so-friendly friend relaxing back in the chair.

A smirk spread on his lips while the scent of sx and pleasure that has come along with Peter started fading away.

Damien had smelled it long back when Peter walked in his cabin. He was only trying to be a little ribald with him and talk about his heavy morning he may have spent to get that smell of arousal and pleasure all around him.

His boner was another thing Damien noticed besides the smell as he predicted he would ask him to go to a club tonight and lick some pleasure off of a sexy woman's body.

But the smirk on his face exhausted Damien's cool, making him grow all serious and attentive towards Peter Dursely.

"What I mean is that your new friend is taking inexplicable interest in your Housekeeper." Peter tilted his head and smirked wider.

Damien's eyes shrunk and back steeled. He was forced to think about who Peter was trying to address besides Aura. As he cannot afford to stress his already tired mind, he appreciated Peter to complete the jigsaw puzzle.

"I am talking about Rosario and Aurora. One of our mutual friends from the academy saw him with your Housekeeper. And I was forced to wonder if your Housekeeper has started seeing someone else beside you—or I should say in your absence!" His words poked him provocatively.

"When I heard it, I could not keep myself from bringing the news for you. And looking at your face I can say, I did the right thing." Damien cannot try to look away.

It was as if a snake bit him. His wolf sourly howled in his chest at the disclosure of the news.

Aurora... His Aurora with Rosario?

She never mentioned hanging around with him. Whenever they talked on the phone she only mentioned being alone and missing, and that she was looking forward to going out on some dates or day outs with him.

Also when he talked to Madam Martha last night, she said Aura had been in the mansion, reading all day.

Damien raised his eyes to glare at Peter. He was not joking, was he? Because if it was a way to piss him off, it could be costly and lead to destructive consequences for him.

"Does your Housekeeper know Rosario had been an enemy? An irksome enemy you have wished to kill so many times. Yes, does she know that?" Obviously, she did.

It was Peter who was oblivious about a business deal Damien signed with Rosario. It happened later than that Brian's accident.

There was someone plotting against the two of them. The lorry that hit Brian's car belonged to Rosario's company but the driver was not his, which proved that there was someone trying to create misunderstandings between them with the motive to harm themselves through each other.

They could not think of any better way to catch the person than signing a deal so that their common rival grew annoyed and charged them together and left better evidence behind for them to catch him together. They had decided to make the news official once Damien was back from his London trip.

"Where did this mutual friend of ours see them together?" Damien acted cool.

His voice startled Peter for it was not in his nature to act so calm in the matters concerning Aura. The Alpha had fallen irrevocably for his housekeeper and Peter was certain that he would do something predictable.

Something like throwing the desk away or Peter himself. On his way to Damien's office he imagined to get several reactions but this one was least expected.

"Outside a hospital. Here is a proof for you, before you assume I am purposely creating issues in your life." Damien restlessly snatched Peter's phone.

"This can't be true!" Alpha Damien exclaimed.

His Aura was with that bastard Rosario. His car was in the background which gave him an idea that she drove in his vehicle.

Since the picture was clicked from a further distance, it was hard to tell if Aura was injured but one thing was clear that she was smiling. Also her hand holding around his forearm made it seem like they were a couple.

"I know you will throw me across the room after what I am going to say ahead, but I will take my chance." Damien was too busy to pay Peter a glance.

He was busier in glaring at the photograph captured of the woman he loved and was dying to see her.

Her expressions made something flutter in his stomach. Nope, they were not some sort of butterflies or tingling sensation that arises during a romantic moment. It was more of clenching muscles. As if something in his stomach was crumbling.

He wanted to disapprovingly say it was not his Aurora, but damn, her face was clearly visible.

If not Aurora's facial features, then Damien was very well acquainted with Rosario's features. It was him. Indeed him.

"Could it be that they went for an abortion?" Damian felt the immediate loss of connection with the photo when he broke eye contact with it to throw a spear of warning at Peter who was irritating him now.

"Don't glare at me so murderously!" Peter's hand shot up in surrender, showing that he meant no harm. "But being frank, why would your Housekeeper go to a hospital with that handsome mortal?"

Damien experienced a hot rush of anger. His lashes lowered to glance at the photo again. He gulped his saliva to lessen the tightness in his throat.

"If what you said is true, I will dig your grave next to Rosario."

"What!" A stream of shock slid down Peter's spine, causing him to curse Damien in his thoughts. This is not how it was supposed to turn out.
