Chapter 14 You are a... Distraction, Aurora Collins!

Chapter 14 You are a... Distraction, Aurora Collins!
14\. You are a... Distraction, Aurora Collins!

The ripple of their laughter resonated in the closed car. Alpha Damien and his beta friend high-fived. They could not forget the tale that just took place a few seconds ago.

“Ignite the engine, Brian,” Damien said among his loud laughs and put his seat belt on.

Brian followed his moves and fastened his seat belt as at the same he started the engine.

“By the way did you really not hear that noise or are you purposely avoiding talking about it?” Once their laughter died and they had composed themselves, Brian raised the topic he was keen on gossiping about.

"I won't say I didn't notice the love bites on her neck for I did. But I would say… I don't give a damn about it. She was just a casual girlfriend out of those casual relationships I had for fun." Damien offered.

"So… You really had nothing for her?"

"Not at all." With a shrug of his shoulders, Damien replied.

"Damn! I thought you were serious. You at least seemed so."

"She and the others have all been a plaything. There is just one woman I love and you know her."

Brian was amazed. He wanted to speak further but remained quiet. He thought he was serious with Ginny.

Going to significant parties and events with her as his lady love made him indeed think that they were actually dating. But alpha Damien and his heart. Nobody can predict it.

Anyways, While Brian was still trying to get out of the air of shock, his alpha friend blew some air of relief and he loosened his tie, “She is officially out of my life… that is all I care. Trust me, I don’t give a shit what she does and who she fuks behind my back now. I never cared before nor now. I exclusively belong to Aura and she to me and that is all that I want to remember.”

Silence quilted the atmosphere for some time. Brian had a lot to say and talk about but he preferred to keep mum given that he did not wish to interrupt his friend’s delighted mood. Damien never laughed so openly ever before. he had not been seen so high-spirited earlier. His mate’s death and his disarrayed life despite coming from a high-class family always bothered him.

He was taunted for having a casanova father whose mistresses were younger than his own mate. His classmates and friends made fun of his mother for jumping into the lap of even mightier alpha from Damien’s father’s.

Though Damien was a brute and never lost any argument or fight. Still, whenever the opponents used his parent’s failed relationship and their family matter as his weak point, he would fall quiet. Because each word they would throw at him was true. Bitter but true.

"If you don't mind, can I say something? " Brian asked in a soft whisper.

He received a slap on his shoulder and a curt look from Damien in return as he grumbled, "Since when did you start asking for my permission?" It was filled with every ounce of mockery.

"Just spill it out already, bich!" Stating gravely, Damien raised his eyebrows.

"Well, I just wanted to say,"

"Say what?"

"Just wanted to say that Aurora is a dazzling woman. Do not let her go away."

That very statement touched Damien's heart. He smiled vibrantly and looked at his hand in his lap.

"Never ever." Damien smiled proudly.

He wasn't going to let her go away.

Not now.. Not ever.

But wait… Aura!!! And suddenly the mention of her name amplified his heartbeats. Oh no, not in a romantic way but in an anxious way.

"Oh heck, Aura!" Damien swung his head to spare a look at his beta.

His profile that was flashing vibrant expressions suddenly clouded with vexation. Recollections of Brian's words came back into fragments until they made a full fledged memory.

"What?" Asked Brian gravely as he couldn't perceive why he was being glared like that.

"How dare you say that aloud in front of her?" Was the kind of return alpha made.

Brian bit his lip and sheepishly chuckled, "I am sorry. I was surprised too."

Alas, it made no difference to Damien. He continued to glare at him while he stressed his head about how he would explain everything to her.

He didn't sleep with Ginny or anyone else because he was against the thought of cheating Aura. He wanted to keep the touch of her skin on his body. Yep, he was angered by the way she had dressed. It could not frustrate him to an extent that he would effuse it on some female's body. Damien only desired Aura. Only Aura.

"I am sorry, dude. I will talk to her if you want." He was pulled to the present by Brian's voice.

"You won't do anything. Now before I kick your iron ass, drive fast!" He ordered him, thinking about Aura.

Unfortunately, the time was not in his favour and just as Damien was wondering how to confront her, his cell phone vibrated in his pocket. Having pulled it out as he observed the name, he hissed.

"Bloody hell, how can I forget about this meeting." Sighing gravely Damien made a crying face. "Drive us to the head office, Brian, I'll take care of Aura later."

Without any further inquiry, Beta Brian took another route that led to the Hunter Enterprise's Headquarters.

Looks like the moon goddess had something else stored for them!

"Gosh, I feel so broken inside." Damien's sequin dazzling eyes squeezed as he huffed a tired breath.

"Drive us home without wasting any second, Brian." Evening air gushed, the birds began to fly back to their nests while the Alpha and his Beta settled in the car.

It took them the entire afternoon. The meeting was important. He wouldn't have compromised if it was not crucial. It was his dream project which he could not ignore. He had been waiting for this for a while now.

Anyways, one work was done. One more to go. Alpha Damien was moving in its direction only when he tiredly observed the dusky evening lights.

Soon they reached his mansion. He quickly got down the car and headed towards her bedroom.

When he reached her room his heart was thumping badly. As if he was going to war. It was not a war though.

'Okay, relax. You are judging her sweetness!' His wolf remarked. Damien ignored it and circled his fingers around the knob of her door.

He hesitantly unfastened it and saw that the room was dark. The lights have been switched off but his heightened vision helped him look everything clearly.

He marched inside her room and the scene in front of her, made a smile creep in his mouth. His Aura was fast asleep on a couch with a book resting on her chest.

It was the book he had suggested to her previous month.

He kneeled down across from her and stared at her face that was calm like an ocean and vibrant like morning hue. She looked like an innocent baby.

"You… Are a distraction, Aurora Collins." He stared longingly at her.

Damien lowered his mouth on her forehead and kissed it lightly. Then with a defeated heave of exhaustion, he carefully picked her up in his arms and took her to his own bed room.

Yeah… His bedroom.

Because that is where she belonged. They belonged. It was this room they would be spending their nights in. As a couple. As mates.

He walked unhurriedly, his eyes admiring her sleeping profile. Her skin was slightly cold against his warm one. The heat of passion has draped him all around.

The march until his room was quick. Though he strutted as sluggishly as he could, they were in his room real soon. That is what he assumed.

Damien cautiously made her lay down on his bed. All this while his pupils never left the sight of her face. He blanketed her carefully as if she were a fragile thing while glancing keenly at her face.

When he was going towards the washroom, once he's done covering her, he realised that his coat was clutched. It was her. She was still in sleep but her hold was iron-like. She won't let him go. Damien didn't want to go either.

He smiled as he tried to remove her grip for a few times then finally— he submitted.

He slipped under the blanket beside her and pulled her head on his arm. She nuzzled closer and murmured something nonetheless he was too worn out to think about it.

His eyes were heavy themselves and with her in his arms, he felt sleepiness weighing down on him aggressively. Soon his flickering eyelids fell across his gaze and right after cutting the lights off, he called it a night with her in his arms.

Sometimes life plays unpredictable games that no one can perceive!!!

And this, that was between Alpha Damien and his Housekeeper— was this a beginning of a new chapter?— or the end of her chapter in his life?

Tbc…
