Thirty Two
Thirty Two
~Amber.
My body involuntary fell on the ground with a thud, my heart racing as fast as it could. How did she know about Reece? Who on Earth was Brenda? Darmac just have a small smirk ruffled my hair and srotted our behind his sister who bubbled away.
Panic filled me that instant. No, this wasn't good. I never wanted anyone to know about who I was but how did Brenda get to know? Of all people the most important piece of information that my life depends on had to fall on someone like Brenda? God I am done for.
"Amber are you okay?" Carmen rushed up to me staggering on her feet but maintained her balance.
I nodded, biting my lips holding the tears back in. I am far from fine Carmen but I can't tell you. It shattered and broke my heart, Carmen has been nothing but good and kind to me. A loving friend I never had.
She helped me up, dusting my gown with her hands with concern. I kept my head bent so she wouldn't notice my panicked Express, Carmen is very smart in no time she would deduce that I am really hiding something from her.
"I'll have to let Raze know about this." She said seriously, her gaze pointed on the path Brenda and Darmac took.
Raze? Hell no. Not with the name of my previous mate right on Brenda's hands. "No…um it's just a small misunderstanding… we can handle it." I stuttered. I was bad at lying and doing that to someone like Carmen was just putting my luck through test.
Surprisingly she nodded thoughtfully, then smiled at me. "I see why Raze chose you. You'd surely be a great L.. help in future."
I frowned as she switched words, but smiled back. "I hope so. Can we just like head back?"
"No. I have informed Matthew that we were coming." She took my hands. "Don't worry, nothing like this would happen again."
I nodded stiffly and followed her to the practice area for the warriors.
We passed different warrior going for their training and they all bowed their head when greeting me, though I didn't know why I have gotten used to it.
We made our way to the top floor of the warriors house. Carmen excitedly led me to the verandah where we could watch and have a better view of the training warriors.
The training started and I had my gaze fixed on them. For some reasons I was intrigued and getting more interested with their training.
"You seem really engrossed Amber." She voiced our my thought winking at me.
I nudged her playfully. "Don't think of anything else. I am just interested in their skills."
She raised her hands in defeat but soon countered me. "Yeah skills and to feed your eyes yeah?"
We both laughed at what she said and returned our gaze back to the men where Carmen pointed out different men who looked good and had a good physique. My face turned red whenever she makes such a remark. She even went as far as imagining sex positions and I couldn't help but wonder or would I say imagine I and Raze in such positions she was describing.
We kept talking but a familiar growling at our back made me turn to see Matthew staring at us with a frown his face.
I turned back to Carmen but she said nothing. She kept ogling at the warriors totally ignoring her angry mate.
"Oh my gosh Amber." She gave me a sidewah glance. "Have a look, this guy is hot and so handy. I wonder how he…"
"Carmen.." I whispered harshly through gritted teeth. "Your mate is right at your back and you are doing this?"
She shrugged and said nothing, just casually turning back to face the men.
I turn back again and gave Matthew a sorry look and a nod then turning back to Carmen who was acting really strange.
"Who are you and what have you done to Carmen who would jump on her mate at the slightest chance?" I asked with a frown, leaning closer to her so Matthew won't hear us and get more angry at her indifference.
"Not your business Amber." She frowned. "Look, then are doing that formation again."
I opened my mouth to say something but coudmng form words. I heaved my shoulder in defeat, stood up from the bench and walked back in through the glass. It was probably a mate issue and they would sort it out. I assured myself.
"Hey Matthew." I greeted with a small bow and a smile to hide my uneasiness.
"Oh Amber how do you do?" He asked rather casually his gaze regarding me subtly.
"I'm really sorry about that. You should go talk to her." I told him and he nodded wigb a grateful smile. "I…"
"We were just about taking our leave." Carmen walked to my side avoiding Matthews stare. "Right Amber?" She flashed a smile.
I said nothing, just awkwardly standing in their midst.
"Didn't you ask me to tell you things about Raze and what to do with him?"
My cheek reddened and my ears grew hot. How could she say something like that in the presence of Matthew? I was embarrassed.
Matthew cleared his throat, throwing a slight glare at Carmen. "I'll leave you two to it then." He said simply and walked out.
"What is the meaning of that? What did you just do!?" I asked as soon as he left.
"Nothing." She shrugged and turned to return back to staring at the warriors but I held her hands back.
"No Carmen, something is definitely wrong." I paused. "I have never seen you this way with him before."
"There's a first time for everything, right Amber?"
I sighed.
"Oh dear don't bother, it's nothing. I just needed to get him off my back for a while." Her tone turned cold as she spoke.
I gave her a questioning look wondering why in hell was she going to do that? Was it related to what Brenda said the other day?
Carmen shrugged the thought from my mind as she pulled me out of the verandah.
