Chapter 174

Mitchell POV:

I quickly made my way back to the bloodclaw's pack as I got the poison with my heart rising. My heart was filled with Malachi's heavy betrayal. I crept into my room just as I got to Ashir castle, my heart racing like a wild animal. I couldn't shake off the feeling of dread that had settled in my stomach. Malachi's words echoed in my mind, "I'll be watching you every step of the way." I felt trapped, like a prisoner in my own home.

I locked my door, my hands trembling as I tried to calm myself down. But my mind was a jumble of thoughts, all centered around Malachi's sinister plans. What did he have in store for Alpha Ashir? And what would happen to me if I didn't comply?

I paced back and forth in my room, my heart pounding in my chest. I couldn't confide in anyone, not even my own family. Malachi's reach was too far, his influence too great. I was alone in this, and I knew it.

I stopped pacing and stood still, my eyes fixed on the vial of poison in my hand. I had to get rid of it, but how? And where could I turn for help? The weight of my secrets was crushing me, and I didn't know how much longer I could keep this up.

I stood resolute, the vial of poison clutched in my hand. I knew what I had to do. I called out for a maid, my voice steady. "Bring me a glass of wine, please."

The maid arrived, unaware of the drama unfolding in my room. I took the glass from her, my hand shaking slightly. I poured the poison into the wine, the liquid swirling together in a deadly embrace.

My heart raced as I raised the glass to my lips. I knew this was the only way to stop Malachi's evil plan. I had to destroy the poison, and I had to do it now.

With a deep breath, I poured the wine down the drain, watching as the poison disappeared into the darkness. I felt a surge of relief, mixed with a sense of trepidation. I had just crossed a line, and I knew there was no going back.

But I was determined to protect Alpha Ashir, no matter the cost. I had made my choice, and I would see it through to the end.

I stood outside Alpha Ashir's door, my heart pounding in my chest. I took a deep breath and knocked, my hand trembling. The door opened, and Alpha Ashir's warm smile greeted me.

"Mitchell! Thank the gods you're safe. I've been worried sick about you," he said, ushering me in.

But I couldn't return his smile. My eyes filled with tears as I gazed at him, my voice barely above a whisper.

"Alpha Ashir... I've committed a great crime."

His expression changed from joy to concern. "What do you mean, Mitchell? What's wrong?"

I swallowed hard, my words stuck in my throat. How could I tell him? How could I admit my betrayal?

My eyes pleaded for forgiveness, but I couldn't find the words to confess my secrets. The weight of my guilt was crushing me, and I didn't know how to escape it.

I took a deep breath and let the truth spill out, my words tumbling forth like a dam breaking. "Alpha Ashir, I've been a spy for Malachi for a long time. My mission was to gather information and wait for the perfect moment to strike... to kill you."

I paused, my eyes brimming with tears. "It's because of a centuries-old grudge, a betrayal by your forefathers against mine. Malachi believes I should be the rightful Alpha, not you."

I wept, my body shaking with sobs. "But I couldn't do it, Alpha Ashir. I couldn't bring myself to harm you. Malachi will come for you soon, maybe even now. He'll stop at nothing to achieve his goal."

I held out the wine glass, my hand trembling. "I was supposed to use this to poison you, but I couldn't. You have to find Adara, Alpha Ashir. She's the only one who can help you now. You're helpless without her."

My confession hung in the air like a dark cloud, heavy with betrayal and deceit. I awaited my fate, ready to face the consequences of my actions.

I raised the glass to my lips, my eyes locked on Alpha Ashir's horrified face. With a quiet resolve, I drained the poison wine, feeling its deadly effects course through my veins.

As the room began to spin, I collapsed to the floor, my vision fading to black. I heard Alpha Ashir's anguished cry, his screams for Smith to save me, but it was too late.

My body went limp, my mind slipping into the darkness. I knew I had made a fatal mistake, but I couldn't undo it now. My last thought was of Alpha Ashir, and the sorrow I had brought upon him.

And then, nothing. The silence of death enveloped me, a stark contrast to the turmoil that had ravaged my life. I was gone, leaving behind a trail of sorrow and regret.
