Chapter 85 Alpha's Fury.
Chapter 85
Rosa's POV
“I knew you wouldn't go where I sent you!” Jax thundered, “I knew you always take my command for a joke!”
The heat in the room increased. As I watch Jax matched into the room.
If you are going to continue to disobey my order, and flout my rules as you wish, you force me to call the elders that brought this union together to dissolve this lie called marriage,” Jax roared.
“I didn't want to be part of this before, I never wanted to have anything to do with the Blackthorn's family, since Mila had messed up…”
Jax bellowed it was like I had opened a can of everything going on in his head.
“Before they arranged, this thing, this forceful union.”
He pointed to me like I meant nothing, “called a mistake for me,”
The word startled me.
So you are calling me a mistake,
“If there is anything worse off,...” Jax fired back, moving closer to me. Our eyes locked on each other.
You stayed behind to take care of my father before he gave his last breath to the cold hands of death I knew was all but a lie…”
“I knew everything was just a gimmick to make me feel you are loving and caring far more than Mila,”
Jax didn't stop, he continued “My father bought into it. They pushed it down his throat hook line and sinker. Kael could be easily faked but not me. From the friends, who were eating from the same plate with him, that turned their backs against him even while he was bed-ridden. Where are they today? They have all disappeared into thin air like smoke.”
I knew you were never the right one for me, you were only doing those things then in front of my father, to gain favour and seek his approval for marriage.”
He turned to all the servants who came into the room with him.
“Do I need to tell you wolves to vacate to give me space.”
They left the room hurriedly. Almost knocking themselves off at the doorway, leaving only two of us in the room.
Jax paced to and fro in front of me the sound of his shoe hitting the polished floor.
“I knew it was all lies, where are the bloody elders that gave you to me saying you are the best replacement for Mila, my own Mila…”
He paused, his voice choked,
“For the atonement of Mila's sins over the pack,” he bellowed , “Where are they now, they have run into their shells, leaving me alone to face the persecution of the gods…”
The room thickened with silence overwhelmed by Jax's voice.
“I became an alpha king without an elders council. Every one of them stopped coming to the palace, everyone had abdicated for the pack's love.”
Jax didn't stop, while I flattened my lips. “Alpha Vexhood never for once stepped into the palace to help me out, the only time he showed up were only to issue threats to leave my father's throne.”
“Hell no! I am not doing that! Who knows if he wasn't the face behind all these ordeals.”
He kept on telling me that I had offended the gods and moon goddesses, he should then tell the gods to show me where I had fallen shot, I was ready to make amends,
Look at my palace, everywhere felt empty like a graveyard. The chief priest and head of the elders forum all stood behind, all the elders too didn't want to show up, they saw this place as a death trap only to stay away.
“But if others stay, why would Alpha Vexhood also stay away?”
“Sometimes I would see some of the elders on the way putting on the same chain or pendant that you are putting on?”
It was so obvious. Jax is beginning to see that one of the biggest causes of his problem was standing in front of him.
You mean this?” I quickly interrupted to defend myself.
“This meant nothing. I bought it at the market, and it was cheaply sold at the central market.”
I had to come up with a lie to bury his assertion. Jax really thinks through this time around. Maybe someone must have hinted or influenced him to think in that direction.
He turned to me, his fore finger pointing to me.
“And only you and the elders had the courage to put this on? Because I have never seen this type of pendant on anyone except you and all the elders.”
“I went to the market a few weeks back and I bought it. I have as many of them at home.” I replied, defending myself.
“Oh! That was definitely awesome then, because the authentic source that brought the news to me, told me that Alpha Vexhood was the one that gave it to you.”
“Talk Rosa , I am with you!”
“No, that is not possible, that is a lie.”
“Shut up!” Jax spat, " I caught you lying this time again.”
“I am not lying.”
“Shut the fuck up, who are you lying to, my informant told, it's was to fortify you against the gods when the want to strike the pack.”
“No, my simple question is, how come Alpha Vexhood didn't give me this too.”
My face darted around the room for an answer. Just something to douse this tension. I knew I had been caught. I knew Jax smelled treachery, not far but close by , the offensive odour oozing from my body.
“Alpha Vexhood said because you are the only king, you have slept in the seven mountains, and only two kings had gone into the seven mountains, slept there and coming out, hence your blood is very strong against any attack that was why he didn't give it you,”
“Oh! My blood? That is very Interesting to hear, that sealed the assertion that you all working against me, because how could he not share to the beggars, the wine bearers the traders and every fucking omegas in the stormfang pack the same pendants?”
I came up with another lie.
“He said the gods deliver them and only a limited number he has.”
Jax raked his hand into his hair, still not believing me. I dug that pit for myself.
“So why did you failed to obey my command,”
“I didn't,” I replied. “He came here.”
“Alpha Vexhood?” Jax asked, squeezing his brow.
“Yes.”
“To issue a threat to le
ave the throne? The way he had always been doing?”
“No…”
Jax closes the distance between us, “So to do what exactly?”
“To take lyra.”
