Chapter 80 Sacred Summon
Chapter 80
Rosa's POV
The holy one!
The word erupted from my mouth.
Like I had seen the gods coming through the walls of the room and paying me visit.
Alpha Vexhood bent head low into the ground. He sat at the edge of my bed. His totem is firmly in his right hand. He banged it repeatedly on the floor.
I knew it. I knew what it meant.
I shivered about the same spot, dragging my feet like a ghost into the room.
Like the earth should open up and swallow me up.
Caramel was still coming behind she had not even gotten into the living room of my quarters.
My eyes opened up a bit. Fear overwhelmed me. I couldn't explain why he was here. I couldn't explain why he had to pay me a visit at the hours of the day.
Maybe all the evil that I have done and about to do has been exposed to him by the gods.
Maybe the hate I had emboldened in my heart against his son had reached the gods and revealed to him.
Thud! Thud!
That was the low sound of the totem in his right hand as it hit the floor of my room.
Alpha Vexhood's eyes still fixated into the ground realizing that I had entered the room.
Then, he looked up, his eyes shining like a golden spectre.
My heart squeezed again. I stumbled back a little. Realising I was the only one in the room with him. Sweat gathered at my forehead trickling to every part of my face.
Ahh… Ahhh!!”
That was the low but strange smile that erupted from Alpha Vexhood.
My feet became so heavy like cement and gravel had been casted into it. I dragged it with all energy within me.
Then the door shot behind me due to the strange breeze that settled in the room. Or probably the gods had shut it themselves behind me.
Noo… Noo, not this time.
Realising that it is a death sentence when it remains only you and alpha Vexhood in the room.
Alpha Vexhood let out another smile. This time showing the mixture of his white and golden glittering teeth under the dim light of my room.
The totem held in his right arm hit the ground repeatedly with dull thud. That usual greenish glow though in a faint form emanated from it.
Then he looked up straight into my eyes as if the gods had instructed him to do so.
My soul almost jumped out of me.
“Daughter of the gods, why did you abandon your mission?” His voice echoed into the room.
Like the gods were speaking directly to me. The pillars of the room vibrated to his utterance.
I held the tip of the trouser I wore. My throat suddenly became dry. Words stuck in my mouth. My tongue twisted together like hot coal had been wrapped around it.
That wasn't enough. Then he continued.
“Why did you abandon your destiny?”
I muted, my teeth jammed together in my mouth, like I was coming out from an ice bath of a cold winter river.
“Why did you decide to leave the immortal and dine with the mortal?”
The questions were coming but I didn't answer any of them. I couldn't tell if he was speaking proverbially or if he was asking direct questions.
I couldn't be too forward. Alpha Vexhood is not the type that one should be too forward with, one hardly knows where his questions are directed to.
My heart, beating hard behind my chest.
Then he released the last one.
The gods are angry.” He spoke a bit. My heart froze "The gods struck the pack with fury. Painfully, you held their hand in the air to stop them from doing their work.
The last word hit me.
I…I,” My tongue stuck to the roof of my mouth.
I wanted to force the words but I couldn't. My chest rose high and fell exhaling a large amount of air from it. The type of air, usually laced with fear.
I used my right arm to quickly rub the sweat almost trickling into my eyes.
At last I pushed my tongue to speak.
“T…The holy one…” I spoke, my lips still trembling, at this time the strange breeze that gained entrance into the room had increased, almost sweeping me off the ground. " P…please I don't not understand … what you are … talking about.”
He looked at me again, buried his glittering eyes, evoking nothing but fear into the floor of my room for a moment and changed his gaze back to me.
It was like someone or something was speaking to him through the floor.
I could not stand the glittering of his eyes anymore. My eyes couldn't meet his. I changed my gaze back into the ground.
I didn't know where all these questions were heading.
Maybe he have seen all my atrocities, the one I had done to Astra. How the love for his son had diminished in my heart and looking for loopholes to plot his downfall.
He paused again and without wasting words.
I am here to collect the precious gift you have been protecting and shielding.
Gift?” My lips trembled but still it managed to escape from my lips. I returned my gaze a bit to him.
The holy one I couldn't remember anything I had bought recently that would be of importance to the gods?” I replied, pushing the little but thick saliva that had clogged my throat down through it.
You are leaving me in the dark…” I said
He smiled faintly, and at the same time, the door creaked behind my back. Caramel had entered in too.
Her breath seized too just like mine. She couldn't run back into the living room. We quickly exchanged glances. She also knows what this means. Especially when Alpha Vexhood didn't send a letter, didn't send a messenger, didn't visit by foot but decided to pay someone to visit through the walls of the room.
He smiled faintly and commanded.
“ Bring me Lyra.”
