Chapter 69 Evidence In The Shadow
Chapter 69
Rosa's POV
A voice in my head kept telling me, “Rosa you can't spend an extra day in this pack! Tomorrow breaks, you pick your stuff and say goodbye to this pack.”
I have caused enough havoc and sooner or later, just like the wise use to say: When a grave is shallow, the truth digs itself out.
I got to the front gate of Ryder's house. Thankfully Freya had dropped her key for me.
I didn't want to misplace it. I hid it inside one of the pottery designs outside Ryder's building.
I didn't check the time but I knew it was around early hours in the morning close to day break.
I slot in the key. Turn the handle. The door hinges made some funny noise. I didn't want it to wake up anyone in the house. Especially that foolish omega that I had rancour with at the gate earlier yesterday.
The weather was cool, and it caressed my skin. Maybe because I had sweat out hard due to numerous activities those dogs put me through.
All the tools I had used to carry the murder of Astra had been tossed into the river. The only thing I didn't change was the maid cloth. I didn't bring anything of such along with me.
I slot in the keys to the lock connecting to the main house. It was partially dark and few lights were switched on to partially illuminate some specific portion in the house.
I walked slowly to the kitchen and removed the cloth leaving me only with my pants and bra. I wrapped the cloth up and kept it in a paper bag and headed straight into the bedroom.
I got into the room with the paper bag, I switched on the bulb on and walked directly into the bathroom.
I had dropped the paper bag at a corner close to the wardrobe and so far away from the bathroom.
The warm shower cascaded over my body, I tried to erase the thick dark stain of Astra's blood away from my knees and some part of my body.
My first objective before leaving this place tomorrow was to finally displace the cloth, which is the last item of the crime I committed.
I sat on the floor in the bathroom, recalling how I had brutally murdered Astra. She pleaded. I didn't spare her and what would I have to do even to spare her.
Maybe I should have but she was carrying Ryder's heir. No, I wouldn't take that chance.
Then I heard something that looked like the closing. I switched off the shower… to see if wrinkling or footsteps or anything would follow. But no..
I switched on the shower and I continued with my deep thinking.
Is recalling madam Ravenna and her two other loyalists the best option? She wouldn't even dare have anything to do with me because she would see as a payback time for dismissing her without any compensation and everything money I would be given would be like I am trying to appease like the gods not to spill the secret.
Should I stay in this pack for one more day and go ahead to hunt that bastard? Or leave this place then restrategize on how to hunt that bastard down from a stormfang pack?
If the truth comes out while I am still in Alpha's Dominion's pack that would be disastrous for me because there would be no immunity to cover me up.
And most importantly, everything we have been covering about the covert relationship between me and Alpha Ryder the world would know.
And would Alpha Jax pitch his tent besides in the midst of all this trouble? Never? He would treat me as a promiscuous Luna having extra marital affairs with his rival to the throne.
Jax? Hmmn? Jax that I know, he would quickly facilitate my movement to alpha's dominion pack based on the evil I have done against him.
I was still deep in my thoughts when I heard the door into the room closed.
Ryder?” I muttered. I squeezed my brow. Only my voice echoed back to me.
Ryder should be far away in a stormfang pack Not here? Maybe in the pool of blood or whatever, fighting with everything he has to grab power from his arch rival, alpha Jax.
So he can't be here? He shouldn't ?
I sprang up, like a wild beast who had been famished since morning, but fortunately sighted a stray prey walking across its territory.
I can't leave anything to chance?
I turned off the shower, walked out of the bathroom.
Then I saw him…
Ryder!!” I raised my voice a bit like I had seen a ghost.
He turned to me,
Have been thinking about,” he said, " wouldn't it sound stupid to invade a Stormfang pack like that with my supporters?
I thought through it,” he said, and I said that wouldn't be a good plan, I would rather sponsor a pack member for a couple of days to raise protest for Jax to vacate the throne, and heating the polity, then I will now show like I am at side of the masses.”
I looked at him for a moment as he was voicing out the rubbish. Why did he not think about this before he gave those Rogues that escaped with his money?
My hands dropped to hips as I watched him like a ghost.
Are you going to stand there and say nothing?”
I didn't know what to say. Then I thought about it, the paper bag? I used one corner of my eyes and directed my vision to that specific corner.
No wolf must lay hands on that, that is enough evidence to send me into prison.
Fear gripped me, my breath spiked, the cool and fresh water cascading my body due to the shower had I just suddenly turned warm in my skin.
No… I have to find it? I can’t just allow it to fall into the hands of just anyone that is straight to prison?
