Chapter 55 A Mission Cooking.
Chapter 55
Rosa's POV.
It was difficult to shake off the experience I had in Alpha Vexhood's house. It was like a stubborn tick stuck to a dog’s skin. Determined to suck every drop of life from it.
The fight between Ryder and his father was one thing but at least I was happy to connect with the man I was doing a lot of this for after several months of separations. My heart. My soul. Ryder.
Regardless of the intensity of the fight that broke out between Ryder and Alpha Vexhood. Alpha Vexhood warned me that it is difficult now to back down and what we need is focus on the mission.
Also added that when it comes to Ryder whether he likes it or not he doesn't have any options than to fall in line.
I have wrapped the poison he gave me in my bag. He called it blight serum. It doesn't have any effect if it has any direct contact with the skin. But if added to food, drink, wine or anything consumable, the effect will start to take place immediately when.
Symptoms like seizure, difficulty in breathing and high body temperature will follow. Then depending on the immune of the patient. He or she would not survive after three days.
And the instructions that Alpha Vexhood gave to me was succinctly clear: Just a few drops in his drink would be enough.
I got to the palace and the news had hit me like a tidal wave . Eight farmers have been struck by the hot weather and most importantly, the crops of the farmers are dying in the field. The farmers complained that if adequate measures are not taken , there wouldn't be enough food for the next moon cycle.
Alpha Jax had directed that more pipes should be constructed to get water into their farms since his travelling to the neighboring pack for water had been successful.
That wasn't my concern. My concern is to carry out the Alpha Vexhood plan. Swiftly.
I had directed lyra to help me in making one of her favourite dishes and which alpha Jax too loved. Boiled Salmon with cucumber sauce , combine it up with a red-wine.
Lyra had finished cooking and I had helped her out to set-up the dishes and other cutleries on the table.
I hid the blight serum in my bra. Letting it sit in the hollow of my chest under my mini-gown that I put on.
Lyra wiped her hand on her apron as she arranged the set of silverware on the table besides the dish. The aroma of boiled Salmon and warm cucumber sauce permeate the room. I couldn't lie that this is one of Lyra's gifts.
I tried to adjust the goblet, still trying hard to adjust my breathing with the fantastic aroma that spread throughout the room.
My mind was racing towards Alpha Vexhood's plan.
Lyra,” I turned to her while still arranging the last set of items on the table. Did you finish the preparation for the northern storage room, against the elders meeting coming up next week?”
Lyra paused midway, Almost my Luna,”
Why?"
The crates were heavier than I expected and there was nobody to help me out. But regardless, I will manage to finish up before the end of today.”
What do you mean there was nobody?”
Hmmn…” lyra beamed, I looked into her eyeball, I knew she was trying to hide something, “ a lot of them were busy helping so they couldn't help me out."
Busy?" I scoffed, “ You don't even know how to lie? I told you not to be shielding this lazy omegas anymore.”
My harsh voice came out like a whip, it bounced against the walls of the room and echoed back to me. “Won't they be paid, this is stormfang palace? They swore an oath before taking up this job, anyway I will call a brief meeting for everyone. No laziness around here.”
I breathed down, still keeping my hands busy , “what about the linen?” I asked, “they should be changed before Jax returns from his short visit to the plantation this morning.”
Lyra returned it with a smirk, “yes, my lord, you hardly forget.”
Why would I? Because I trust your competency and you don't drag your feet like rest, you used to get your task done fast.
Thanks so much,” lyra replied as she smiled, " you carry too much alone, your honor and you don't always have to.”
I smiled back if only she knew. Why I was here. When last have I created time to do this for alpha jax? Me? Do I really have such time? I mean prepare his table, pay attention to his meal.
If only she knew my wicked plan, that if this eventually backfire. It may put her too into trouble and this may be her last days in the palace.
She may either spend the rest of her life in prison, stoned to death for treason or banished from the pack.
But regardless, this mission is the most important. This is what I hate to do because lyra is good and also an important asset to me but I had to. For the sake of me. For the sake of everyone. For the sake of the mission.
But yet I will look for a way to bail her out. Either to talk to Alpha Vexhood or come up with some kind of lies to free her. I like lyra and I wouldn't lie about it.
Lyra was arranging the last set of bottle wine when she suddenly froze. Her body became rigid. Like a ghost had entered the room. I didn't pay attention at first to the reaction on her face.
Until I perceived that perfume… it belongs to no one but Jax.
I was about to turn when I felt something strange, something hard pressed against my body. I mean my buttocks to the table.
Sh…” That was the next voice that originated behind me.
Lyra turned her gaze to the table. She quickly dropped everything in her hand and turned quickly to approach the front door.
Where do you think you are going?!” Jax ordered, “Did I ask you to leave?”
