Chapter 52 Mother In Trouble.
Chapter 52.
Rosa's POV.
The room suddenly felt silent.
“W…What are you trying to say… the wise one…” I struggled with the words “... that my mother is in trouble?"
My breath hitched. Eyes widened apart as if danger was steering me in the face. Alpha Vexhood stood in front of me like a statue. Mumbling words . I know he was speaking to the gods. This wasn't strange, but what bothered most was the last statement about my mother.
“Please answer me, the holy one ....” I begged, fear overwhelmed me completely. My voice suddenly became thin.
Alpha Vexhood looked at me once, directed her gaze into the roof. He repeated the act like three times if my counting was correct. Still the mumbling continues.
He suddenly bangs his right foot to the floor.
That action alone immediately erupted clusters of dust into the air. Not normal dust, but a strange color greenish which complemented with dust-like sparks coming from his totem.
I quickly retracted backward leaving roughly five steps between us.
“She… left me in the palace… just yesterday…” I stammered, still kneeling on the floor. I didn't even care if I was Luna. Nor do I care if the whole world was watching.
This is my mother we are talking about.
Alpha Vexhood didn't reply. He didn't flinch. He stood still in the middle of the room, still mumbling strange words. I observed thick veins stretched across his forehead to every part of his face up to his neck.
A strange breeze darted into the room that almost blew me away from where I knelt.
“I shouldn't have allowed her to go… I didn't want to go… I never want to go …” I uttered, my voice thickened and almost moved to tears.
“Please answer me, the wise one she told me… she even went ahead to reveal to me that she stays in your safe house in Crimson pack. I didn't even object, I knew she would be safe under your watch… but your statement now is…”
I stopped halfway. I didn't know what to say again. Until heard,
“Quiet,” Alpha Vexhood uttered solemnly, pointing his forefingers to me, his eyes which turned a bit greenish darted round the room; he was hearing strange voices from every angle.
At this I didn't know what else to do again.
Confused.
He matched towards where I knelt like a ranging bull. I thought at first he was coming to do something, something that looked like evil, probably I might have offended the gods, maybe through my thoughts. I closed my eyes in fear, before the repercussion of my sins were unleashed on me.
Until I heard his footsteps disappearing past me like soldiers heading to the battle field out of the room.
I held my hand tight close to my chest for relief. I heard footsteps fading as he marched along the hallway.
I stood up from where I knelt. I located the nearest couch. My butt placed gently at its edge. This time doesn't permit anything close to sitting comfortably when I didn't know if danger was over. If alpha Vexhood has gone to look for the most appropriate ways to correct me of my wrong doing which I myself didn't even have an idea of.
I looked around nervously throughout the room as if I was a stranger , like this would be my first time in this large living room.
Alpha Vexhood stood in the hierarchy as the second most respected wolf in the stormfang pack and beyond. In his right hand he held power like a golden shield, which both living and non-living within and outside the pack feared in other hand was stupendous wealth. From different mansions, to ranches and farms.
I cautiously looked throughout the room, from the walls with designed artistic sculpture made of polished wood, to metals and even to wooden raffia. The polished tiles floor were not left behind.
I could see the vibrant pictures of young alpha vexhood, with his two beat friends, Knox, alpha Jax's father and my father.
Then I saw a picture. A striking one. It used to be kept in my mother's diary and our family albums. My mother is lying on the hospital bed, carrying a pup that looks like me alongside Alpha Vexhood.
Maybe it's just a coincidence, maybe I should not think too far.
Not long after that alpha Vexhood stepped into the room. The mood on the face looks brightened, not the one filled with anger and uncertainty the first time.
“No panicking, that has been sorted out.” Alpha Vexhood uttered.
I heaved a heavy sigh. To blow off the remnants of fear that had clouded my chest.
I paid homage and was about to leave his presence approaching the door when suddenly uttered.
Have this! Add to his wine tonight,”
Let him join his ancestors before tomorrow breaks."
Alpha Vexhood stretched forth his arm with his palm wrapped up.
I knew something was between his fingers. I walked fast to him to collect it. It was a colourless liquid that smells like orange.
I held it up in the air like a disease kept in a bottle. Thankfully, it had been sealed up in a small jute bag. I wrapped it in my bag.
I was about to step outside when Alpha Ryder stepped inside.
He quickly shouted, “my damsel.”
