Chapter 46 When Truth Finally Speaks

Chapter 46 When Truth Finally Speaks
Chapter 46

Lyra's POV.

The word “RYDER!” hit me like a two-edged sword launched to my artery.

I threw my hand over my mouth in shock; the earth on which I stood quivered beneath my pair of sandals. My energy got drained. I had to locate the nearest seat close by to lay my butt at its edge for a while.

I shook my head. Once. Twice. Maybe my ears weren't working properly again. Maybe I heard wrong?

I can now see that the pieces are gradually falling into place, like a puzzle I had been staring at for a long time; everything is just gradually making sense to me.

So eliminating Mila was just a tool to get to Alpha Jax. Even stupid Jax was never loved by Rosa; he was just a puppet for Rosa to get to the throne before her real fated mate, Alpha Ryder, shows up. Wow! That is interesting.

My stomach twisted with the reality that just hit me. I guessed that was the reason Alpha Ryder never for once felt concerned about the issues bedeviling the Stormfang pack, even if the pack was truly stricken by the gods. Even if the pack was cursed by the gods or the pack was completely wiped out by them, he wouldn't lift a finger.

He was too far and too distant from the throne he planned to rule, very unsupportive and unsympathetic.

All he was so concerned about was how Alpha Jax would vacate the throne. I could tell from just his countenance that, from just roughly a week after Alpha Jax left the throne, he had brought up policies in terms of paying taxes and levies on farmers; he was squeezing blood from stones regardless of how difficult it was for them to produce crops due to their inability to get water to water their crops.

I heard Tracy take a sigh, long and tired… Mother, Lyra is an expensive piece of jewelry one can't let go of easily.

Tracy heaved a heavy sigh so that you can't introduce him to Alpha Vexhood.

“Not yet, Mother, fucking yet. I want to polish her and also refine her to my taste. You see, the way I treat her is special compared to the rest.”

My chest tightened? Was she talking about me? So I have suddenly become a rough piece of jewelry that she wants polished and shaped to her taste. What stopped her from doing that to Mila?

“Was that the reason you didn't visit Alpha Vexhood since you set your feet into this palace?” Tracy asked.

“No, Mother!” Rosa nodded. “I was clearly acting on instructions. He told me to stay clear of his house or any form of meeting with him. Till there is other information I need to act on.”

There was a long pause.

“Then what about your real fated mate, not the fake one?” Tracy asked.

“You mean Ryder?” Rosa's voice quickly went soft, almost dreamy, a sign to show where her heart truly is. “I missed him too, but I can't make it out of here to meet him. I had to be focused on the objective at hand, and the instructions Alpha Vexhood gave me were to come in contact with Alpha Ryder till my mission here is complete. In addition, there would be a loyalist to Alpha Jax who could inform him about what Alpha Ryder and I are having together.”

“Hmmn…” "Tracy beamed. "That's thoughtful of you.

" Do you think Alpha Ryder wouldn't be angry with your fertility status?" Tracy asked.

"I don't think so, Mother; it's like you don't know Alpha Ryder. He loved me with his last breath; all he thinks of is how he will reign over this pack. Moreover, he is very understanding, and he knows I am doing this for us.”

I miss you, Mother,” Rosa quickly added with a warm voice.

“I miss you too, my little go-getter.”

“Was that the reason you left me in this pack to face all the ordeal? It has not been really smooth here ever since Mila's event.”

“No… I was clearly acting on Alpha Vexhood orders; he clearly instructed me to go and live in his safe house in Crimson Pack.”

I am very sure he knew prior to the death of Mila that her death was going to be earth-shaking to this pack.

“Hmmn…” Rosa beamed. “You are very right, Mother. I have never seen a stormfang pack fall into ruin like this in my lifetime. Young and old omegas, even both rich and poor, mysteriously died or disappeared. Different calamities one can't wrap her around.”

Rosa paused; I could almost see her looking at the sky.

“At least you can see how the weather has been so hot; a drop of rain has not fallen since Mila left us.”

“That witch!” Tracy's voice came out like a hiss, full of poison. "I knew she carried some strange power. That was why I detest her. I would have killed her long ago with my bare hands the way I orchestrated the death of her mother. It was Kael, your father, that was preventing me.”

“My mother?”
