Chapter 41 The Strange Face In The Room
Chapter 41
Jax's POV.
An hour later.
The door creaked open and Caramel stepped into the room. I sat with my face hung low.
Pondering on the news that I had received earlier from the healer. I had told the healer not to disclose it to anyone, and that Rosa would personally inform the rest of the family.
Like a ghost, a middle aged wolf walked behind them, when the door was almost closed. She quickly pushed it open.
I raised my head slowly. First I saw leather sandals. Then a simple brown gown. Then finally a calm face framed with a tiny speck of grey hair pulled back in a neat bun.
“You again!” I jumped on my feet. The chair scraped against the polished floor. My fingers pointed at her like I had seen an abominable object.
“Who brought this thing here?”
The room fell silent as they turned to see a robust, good lucking middle age wolf standing along the doorway.
She stood there holding a wicker basket in her left hand. Inside it, there lies bundles of dried herbs tied with strings, well folded neat clothes, a small clay jar sealed with max. This would aid quick recovery of Rosa.
She didn't flinch. She didn't look away. She didn't jitter and then bow like most wolves do.
She stood there calmly. The funniest aspect is how she tugged that tiny smile of hers at the corner of her cheeks, even if the whole world is burning, is what amazes me. This act alone nauseates me about her.
Caramel turned. “Oh! You mean Lyra?”
Caramel said it like it meant nothing, and for me it meant a lot. “She is one of us or are you just seeing it for the first time?”
I am not seeing her for the first time, but I am asking what business she has here?”
What business, your honor? “ Caramel replied.
Then she continued. “I hope you are not talking about lyra, I will advise you not to touch her else you will see the wrath of your Luna when she is back on her feet.”
“Wrath?"
"Yeah wrath” she returned her eyes to Rosa, who was still resting , " thank the heavens, you know Rosa very well, she would not take things likely.
I hate it when this type of wolf stays around me. I can't bear it. Rosa should send this thing back to where she came from!”
Caramel uttered like she meant nothing, dressing the disheveled hair of Rosa, while turning her back to me. “Rosa still had the choice to hire any type of wolf she felt like."
I was looking at lyra. I couldn't withstand her presence around me. I just can't stand Lyra's presence around me. It is like an insect that makes you cringe when it crawls all over your skin.
Oh great! I can see…" I uttered with contempt. " You don't have to tell me that you collaborated with your friend to come up with this,"
She laughed out, between words, " I am innocent of these allegations against me."
I matched to where Lyra was, who was still standing. I couldn't touch her, I was scared of her, and at the same time, I couldn't explain the inconvenience she brought around me, especially since yesterday when Alpha Vexhood had disclosed who Mila truly was? I abhor anything Mila now. I can't stand anyone that has any bloodline linked with goddess Seghora.
I couldn't touch her, even her glassy skin sent shivers down my spine.
I need to see you outside,” I instructed as I stepped out of the room.
I waited for her in a corridor far away from where Rosa and her friend were.
Then she spotted me and i moved closer to me, How did you know that meal I was about eat yesterday was poisoned,
“You have to start talking now or else things would,”
She didn't utter a single word, she bored her eyes into mine and was just smiling.
I wanted to run mad.
What do you take me for? Does this look like a joke to you?”
She cleared her throat, I heaved a sigh, apart from yesterday that she warned me of the food, she hardly spoke with me, “You kn
ow…
Then we both heard,
Ahhh!!!!”
That was Rosa’s voice that suddenly erupted from where she was.
