Chapter 32 Bite Or Die

Chapter 32 Bite Or Die
Chapter 32

.

Jax's POV.

I finally turned. My eyes flickered like I had seen a ghost.

“You… again…” My lips trembled with the exact words to say, “W...what do you want?”

She said it again in a low tone, looking as if someone were coming into the room, "Don't touch that food; you will regret it."

“I… I told you not to move closer to me again; please deal with the wolf that employed you. Rosa employed you… I wasn't the one.”

“I am not here to argue with you, your honor, but if you don't love your life enough, you can try the food.”

She looked behind her back and everywhere in the room and took the other way out of the dining room.

I looked at the plate of food again and then looked at the direction she had taken out of the room. I look at the food, then back toward the doorway she disappeared through.

At first, I was confused. Then I was scared.I wanted to disobey her at first, like, who the hell is she to command the whole alpha king of Stormfang, most importantly in his home, not to eat the food he likes?

But what would it cost me? My life? Her warning rings in my brain. I will only die like a rat whose food has been laced with poison.

My breath hitched. Sweat broke free from my head and trickled down to every corner of my body. Staring at the plate of poison in front of me.

"Calm down, Jax," that voice warned me.

I swallowed some saliva that had clung to my lungs, cleared my throat, and readjusted myself as if nothing had happened.

I called one of the standby guards to call me the young she-wolf or the maid or whatever their name had been called.I pretended that all was well.

That everything was fine. Before she came in, I quickly rushed to get something important. Then the young she-wolf stepped into the room with the guards.

I told the guards to stay away from the front door because I wanted to be left alone with her.

He was shocked because I have never given such instruction before. In his dirty mind she would be thinking I wanted to have something with the young she-wolf.

Then she stood in front of me with her hand behind her back, and she bent low to pay homage.

I thought she would fret, with some kind of tension settling on her face, but I was wrong, a strong reminder of the type of difficult young she-wolf I am entering a conversation with.

But instead she faked a smile.I pointed to the seat at the other side of the table to have her sit.

I instructed the guard to leave us.She glanced at my lips and the food on the table a bit and found everything was perfect; no oil stain on my mouth or napkin.

Before she stepped in, I had personally tidied up the last mess made on the floor when I wanted to have my first bite. I didn't have to call any maid, servant, guards, or whatever.

I wanted this to be as private as possible on my terms. She sat down looking at me in the face and also at the food.

She tugged a smile at the corner of his lips. Her two hands are not on the table but underneath it.

“You have done a great job with this meal? Can you have a bite?” I pushed the food across the table.

No, she stood up on her feet and started to rant,

"Who am I to eat from the king's table? I am just a lowly omega, and perhaps it's a taboo to eat from the same plate with the..."

I pointed my forefinger back to the empty seat. A sign that she should sit.“Toss that through the door.” I uttered calmly, “I run things here.”

“I don't want the gods to strike me…” She replied defensively.

I said, "Pick that meal up in front of you and eat."

“No… My lord… I can't … You know the repercussions… from the gods… I am sorry I am a lowly omega; who am I to refuse… your command … I am sorry … I can't…”

She stood up again from her feet, about to drag her chair backward to leave, then I shove out the gun, which I had kept under my shirt.

“Sit the fuck down!” I commanded as I drove the gun, which I had brought from the room hidden under my shirt.

Her breath spiked. Her eyes were wide apart.

"I… I'm so..sorry my ……” She stammered, retreating back to her seat and raising one of her hands.

“What do you take me for!” I pointed the gun at her forehead and cocked it.

“Do I look like a joke to you?”

“Nooo…”

“So start eating it,” I commanded her.

“I can't eat it, my lord… Let … me then …. Say the truth…”
