Chapter 24 A Throne Built On Rage
Chapter 24
Alpha Vexhood's POV.
“No… No ..!” Alpha Ryder's voice cracked like a whip through the room.“Never will I take this! Not even in the afterlife!”
Before I could speak, he slammed his fist into the table between us. The wooden legs cracked and everything on it toppled over. Jug. Water spilled on the floor. Even the scroll of the gods placed on the table clattered and rolled away. The door and the window frames vibrated with his sudden slam.
I knew my servant would have rushed in if it was another wolf entirely. But everyone knew him. Everyone knew Ryder with his rage. No one except me could deal with him when he is in this mood.
His breathing spiked, his face reddish like coal beet. His hands balled into fists. Even the air in the room thickened.
He fumed, “No! Father, I won't take this!”
I watched as he sprung on his feet like a wide beast chasing a poor prey who had overstepped his boundaries for lunch, the chair he sat on toppled.
He paced back and forth in front of me like a wild beast on edge of snapping. His fingers raked through his hair. His jaw clenched together tight.
Frustration . Nothing but frustration. All painted on his face.
“This is not what I bargain for! This wasn't part of the plan.”
I paused, as I watched him display his anger. He is behaving like a pup flip-floping.
“You promised me the throne. You said that idiot…” he spat, jabbing his index finger in the air, his eyes burning into mine, “...that bloody fool called Jax is not coming back safely from that ill-fated journey!”
He paused a bit, and continued his ranting, “I didn't question it. Did I?” He paused a bit, his voice, he looked at my face. Maybe he would find an answer, but I didn't have any. “I waited for my turn! My fucking turn father! Don't you get that!”
Ryder steps quickened before me still pacing to and fro, raging like a lunatic. Thick veins bulged across his neck and temples, and each word he hurled sent spit spraying in the air, by the full weight of his rage.
“I waited I was so fucking patient. I acted like a puppet all these while. I acted like a figure head beta, dancing to his wishes , I tasted power not up to a week and here I am now! Back to my puppet role … “
“Quiet there!" I snapped, I was tired of his ranting. I stood from where I sat too, moved closer to him.
“If not, that you are my son and thank your star that…”
I paused a bit, my eyes darted around the room, to see if I could by chance lay my hands on my totem.
Though, it is not always this far from me whenever I am at home. I would restrain myself to bring upon him ladies Justina’s fate, but still go ahead to punish in order to fix his faulty brain a little . “... My totem is not here," I pointed my forefinger to Ryder, walking to and fro in front of me, I promise you will experience the same fate as lady Justina. You won't walk out of here alive.”
“Go ahead father,” Ryder snapped , closing the distance between us, "by the way what is stopping you!”
I stepped forward too, our eyes locked on each other, his roaring didn't move me a bit.
"Because I hate wolves like you slandering the gods, I envisioned this long, even before you were born. I birthed you into this plan.”
“I never knew that Jax would survive his visit to the seven mountains, probably I would have instructed my spirit to follow him. I knew he wouldn't come back alive,”
Ryder scoffed shaking his head,
But you,” I went on, voice cold, “I doubt if you have enough patience and other criteria to drive this pack forward.”
He turned his eyes from me facing outside, through the window. But I didn't finish.
“I told you to have patience, your superior is a walking corpse. I will strike him dead in a few hours,” I paused a little, then continue, “at most, a few days from now and will get you back to your position.”
Ryder spun back at me, his eyes like a wild owl in the night.
“Do the needful father! I am tired of this cork and bull story. It's my time to rule the stormfang pack! No one should stop me!” Ryder bellowed at the top of his voice.
He didn't wait for a reply. With a furious growl he walked to the door, yanked it open. He slammed it
furiously, the hinges and the door frames vibrated as his footsteps faded away.
