Chapter 125 The Heir He Will Never Have
Chapter 121
Rosa's POV
My smile grew wider. "Oh! The news has reached you."
Laughter big enough to uproot the building erupted from me as I threw my head back. That kind laughter shows that I didn't care a bit.
I didn't care about him. I didn't care about what Alpha Dominion's pack king or members would do. I didn't care if the pack police would burst into this room and arrest and throw me into jail where I spent the rest of my life.
I actually didn't care a bit. In as much I am clearing off all the obstacles in the form of strange Luna and she wolves that may want to carry Ryder's heir.
"I'm the best killer in the world!" I declared with more demonic laughter.
"No, you are not!" Ryder shot back.
His hand shot and grabbed my shoulders, shaking me vigorously, aim to extract the last breath from my body.
Stop being delusional, you fool,” Ryder uttered " I just paid a hefty sum of shekels to get rid of your mess. The fucking mess you created in Astra's mansion."
The room went still.
Then he burst into laughter . But it wasn't a happy laugh. It was hard and bitter, like biting into a lemon. His lips pulled back, showing his teeth.
"And to one of the omegas you sent out of the palace," he continued. His eyes narrowed. "Without any compensation."
My laughter died. My chest tightened. I pulled back a bit to see if he was lying. But that look on his face suggested otherwise. He wasn't .
"Ravenna?" I whispered. Then louder. "Madam Ravenna."
My blood turned cold. Ice spread through my veins.
"Don't tell me this is a joke," I said.
"Just be praying she's not coming to hurt you," Ryder said. He leaned in closer, his nose almost touching mine. "Because something tells me she's going to come back regardless of the hefty sum I paid to silence her. Something tells me she's coming back for revenge. Revenge for you by sending her and her two loyalists away."
"It's your fault!" I shot back. My hand came up and I jabbed my finger into his chest. "For not being able to keep the organ between your legs under control!"
"Oh! Is that your claim?" Ryder's voice rose again. He knocked my hand away. "That I should wander through life without an heir? That I should just accept having no children, no legacy, no future?"
"Shut up your mouth, Ryder!" I clapped back. My own voice matched his now, loud and furious. "It's me you're saying that to! Are you drunk or something?"
I stepped forward, getting right in his face. "I sacrificed everything for you! Everything! I gave up my bloodline. I gave up Mila, my own sister! I turned my back on my family, my home, my name. All for you!"
My voice cracked. My eyes burned, but I refused to let the tears fall.
"I sacrificed everything, and in all of this, I lost my womb!" My hand went to my stomach, pressing against the place that would never grow life again. "Anyway, thanks for letting Caramel stab me in the back and inform you that I don't have a womb anymore. That was really kind of her."
"Was that the reason you're messing around?" I cried out. My voice broke completely now. "Sleeping with everyone in a skirt? With my best friend? With servants? With anyone who looks at you twice? You are indeed an ingrate!"
"Don't call me an ingrate!" Ryder's hand shot out and grabbed my wrist. He squeezed hard enough to hurt. "I need an heir when I get to the throne! I need a son! I need someone to pass everything to!"
I laughed, hard enough to startle him. The laughter bubbled from my chest huge enough to rip it apart.
"Who told you you'll even get to the throne?" I asked.
Ryder's expression shifted, likewise the air in the room. His brow quickly drew together, carving hard lines into his forehead. Then he eased the grip on my wrist like electricity had been shut into his blood stream through me.
He waited a bit and then drifted closer again. This time our faces were inches apart. I could see blood shot veins in his eyes, the rough stubble along his jaw. The flare of his nostril with every breath.
"What do you mean?" His voice was quiet now. Dangerous quiet.
I pulled my wrist free from his grip. I rubbed the red marks his fingers had left on my skin.
"Jax came to visit my quarters this morning ," I said. Each word was careful and deliberate. I watched his face as I spoke, wanting to see how he would react. "The news has reached him that we're having something together and he is making the moves to deal with me ruthlessly. I don't know what I will meet when I get back to the stormfang pack."
Ryder's entire body went rigid. His shoulders locked. His jaw clenched so hard I could see the muscles jumping under his skin. His eyes went wide, then narrow, then wide again.
His eyes dilated rhythmically for a few seconds.
"What?" The word came out as barely a whisper.
I smiled. Not a happy smile. A knowing smile. A dangerous smile.
"That's right," I continued. "Jax knows. He knows about us. About what we've been doing. About our plans."
Ryder took a step back. His hand went to his face, covering his mouth. His eyes darted around the room, not seeing anything, just thinking. Calculating. Panicking.
The room fell silent except for our breathing. He is fast and shallow. Mine is slow and steady.
I had him now. I could see it in his eyes. The fear. The realization that everything was falling apart.
And I was going to watch it all burn.
Then I dropped another bombshell, “ I am coming back to stay if everything blows up in my face when I get to the stormfang pack. You dare not send me out. And if you think you will use your father as a shield now…”
I paused a bit to see his reaction.
