Episode 16: Worst Has Happened

Gwen.

I firmly believe that Ava will never believe what I just witnessed. Does this mean that my eyes are deceiving me?

"No, no, that's not true! I hope I'm just imagining all of this. It can't be real! Alright Gwen, calm down!" I muttered to myself as I took slow breaths with my eyes closed.

After a few seconds, I cautiously opened my eyes and looked down at the parlor. But damn it, it's real!

This is reality! These people are planning something, and they obviously haven't told us about it.

If that's not the case, then what the hell is Ariel doing here too? I thought Ava said that Caleb told her that Ariel was working with Alpha Dante. So why is she here in the castle of wolf heaven?

"Maybe I can't figure this out on my own. I need to let Ava know about this!" I murmured to myself as I was about to leave. But then Alpha Dan walked into the hall with Caleb.

I decided to stay and watch because it seems like it's going to be an interesting scene.

If Ariel truly caused Caleb's pack to fall, then something is bound to happen here.

"Oh Ariel, you're back!" Alpha Dan said to Ariel excitedly and hugged her. I couldn't believe it, but then I realized that I could.

It's obvious that they know each other from somewhere else. So, I silently continued to watch as I moved forward a little bit to get a clearer view.

"I have missed you so much, my mate!" Ariel responded to Alpha Dan, which left me even more confused.

Ariel? His mate? And he let her out of his sight for so long? What's going on here?

After saying that, Alpha Dan hugged her for a few seconds and then looked at Caleb. It seemed like Ariel hadn't noticed Caleb's presence until Alpha Dan looked at him.

I observed the way they exchanged glances. Those eye looks were definitely not ordinary; they held secret messages.

"Meet my new beta, James," Alpha Dan said, and Ariel reacted by extending her hand for a handshake with Caleb.

"James!? Oh, nice meeting you, James! Such a lively name," Ariel said as Caleb faked a smile.

"Okay then, where is Gwen? Gwen! Go call me Gwen!" Alpha Dan ordered Caleb, who began to head towards the visitor's room where he last saw me. But right now, I need to see Ava before he catches up with me.

So, I headed straight to Ava, who was busy outside the vendor, looking after her little baby boy.

"Oh Gwen, you're here? That's nice. I was actually thinking of coming inside to look for you, but since you're here..."

"Please sit. I have something important to discuss with you," Ava said as soon as I approached her.

With patience, I managed to sit down because I thought it might be that she already knows Ariel is here and wants to discuss it with me.

While I was sitting, she joined me. "Gwen, I believe that you are the right person to tell me what to do," she said. I took a deep breath because I knew it was still about Caleb.

But the truth is, why does Ava always need advice from me when she won't put it into practice and instead do what she wants?

"My lady, don't you think there's no need for me to advise you? I believe you have your own mind, so you can sort it out yourself. You don't have to involve me," I responded, while Ava looked at me surprisingly.

I believe she is surprised by the way I boldly responded, but then she closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

"Gwen, I know you are still upset with me from last time when I said I was thinking about going back to Caleb," she said as I shook my head with a slight smile.

"No, that's not it. It was your decision. I am upset because you always seek my advice and then don't put it into practice. You always do what you like," I replied.

"If that's the case, why do you always call me instead of doing it on your own? Because calling me without practising my advice means you have wasted your time," I responded as I picked up the shirt that was on the floor.

Then Ava shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know what to say, but I'm so sorry about that. As a matter of fact, I already stood up to Caleb and told him to stay away from me," she said, breathing out a sigh of relief because the issue had stressed her out.

Looking at her, you would definitely understand that this situation is what she has been thinking about. I would be glad to help if I can, though.

"It seems like it bothers you too much. What is it, my lady?" I asked.

"Caleb was able to convince Dan to take me and my baby out of the castle of Wolf Heaven for the first time, and I think he has a plan out there that neither I nor my baby will ever return to this place once we are out of here," Ava said, but then my brain was also stuck because I couldn't understand it.

This was what Ava had been begging Alpha Dan to do for her, and it seems like she's asking for too much. How was Caleb able to convince him so easily?

I can see it now! This is just a sad reality of the world. We easily put our trust in the wrong people and neglect the right ones.

After a few seconds of thought, I looked at Ava. "The same thing you begged Dan for with tears and he refused? How was Caleb able to do that?" I asked as Ava shook her head.

"Seriously, I don't know," she responded, then began to breastfeed the baby. I took a deep breath and looked at the floor because it seems that Caleb's plan might be working faster than we expected.

"My lady, maybe that's not the only issue at hand. The only thing I can say about that is that it's definitely part of Caleb's plan, and it has worked for him," I said, blinking my eyes and tapping my fingers on the floor as I bent down.

Then I sat up and looked at Ava. "I think we are already being doomed by Caleb because I just saw Ariel step into this castle a few minutes ago," I said, as Ava stood up from her seat, gazing at me in surprise.

I know she can't believe it either, but I tried so hard not to believe that it's real, but obviously, it definitely is.

"I know you're joking, right?" Ava asked, and I shook my head and stood to my feet, looking at her.

"Why would I use such a thing to make a joke? I'm serious about this. I saw Ariel hugging Alpha Dan, and I think I heard her calling him, mate," I said, as Ava opened her eyes in shock.

"Mate?" Ava asked out of surprise.
