Episode 15: Never Giving UP

Ava.

So I am at the passage with my baby, I came to deliver a message to Austin, one of the respected wolves of the pack.

Austin is Alpha Dan's most trusted regent, but I don't know why he couldn't just make him his beta.

But since I have been here, Austin is the only person who can go in and out of the castle of the Wolf Heaven pack and also Kennedy.

So, I literally don't know what the message was all about, but I have already delivered the message to him. As I was returning back to my room, I saw a new face passing through the passage.

"Hey, you over there! Come here!" I shouted at him, and he came immediately.

"Yes, ma'am!" He responded immediately as he approached.

"I haven't seen your face here before. Are you one of the new recruits of the pack?" I asked, and he nodded at me.

"Yeah, I arrived just yesterday with the others," he responded, and then I smiled at him.

"You are welcome!" I said as I tapped him on the shoulder. "Come on, what's your name?" I added as we began to take a walk, and I started asking him some questions.

"I'm Dred," he responded.

"Okay, Dred, do you have any idea that stepping into this place means that you will die here and there is no going back?" I asked him, and he nodded at me.

"I do," he responded.

"Then why have you decided to come?" I asked, but he began to shed tears.

"My pack was attacked! We had no one to protect us! I lost my family and my friends. I came here because I know that this is the only safe place free from Dante's attack," he said, and I gazed at him in shock.

Dante? Do you mean Alpha Dante?" I asked.

"Seems like you know him too," he responded.

"Please, what's the name of your pack?" I asked, considering that he could be one of Caleb's pack members, but I was shocked that he wasn't.

"I'm from the Silver Moon pack," Dred responded, making me gaze at him in surprise.

"Like seriously? Alpha Dante attacked your pack too?" I asked as I paused, looking at him.

"Obviously, I believe that Dante's new mission is to conquer all of the packs and enslave us all. I also believe that he will come to this place when he thinks he's ready enough to," Dred responded, but I think that won't be possible.

Dante and Dan are the best of friends. In fact, Dante was the one who even sold me to Dan. So obviously, Dante will never think of attacking this place.

But should I just stand by and watch him ruin the world of werewolves out there? It's also why my power was given to me, to protect them. But Caleb made it another thing, though.

"Ma'am, are you okay?" Dred asked, noticing that I was lost in thought. Then I smiled at him.

"Don't worry, you will be fine here! You can go now," I said to him, and he nodded at me and left.

Now I needed to see Gwen to have a word with her, but on my way, I met Alpha Dan.

He kissed me on my forehead and asked, "Where are you headed?"

"I was actually looking for Gwen, but... it seems like you have something to tell me, don't you?" I asked as Alpha Dan smiled, looking at my baby.

"Of course, I do. You know you have been indoors a lot, we should go outside so our baby can feel the fresh sunlight. It's good for you. I will be taking you out of Wolf Heaven's Castle for the first time tomorrow," Alpha Dan said, making me gaze at him with curiosity.

Because that is a word he despises even talking about. Whenever I mention leaving Wolf Heaven, he becomes so angry. But the truth is, I am no longer interested, considering the war of werewolves outside these walls now.

"Actually, that's a good idea, but if you would consider my opinion, I would advise you to forget about it. I am no longer that interested," I responded to him.

"Oh, come on, Ava. You've been longing for it, and I have made up my mind that we have to go. Besides, you will have James with you, who will make things easier," Alpha Dan said as Caleb walked in, looking at me while Dan pointed at him. Then I knew that all of this was planned by Caleb.

While I was still attempting to talk, Dan interrupted me with a request. "James, be with her and give her whatever she needs now, I will be back in a minute, I should check the borders," Alpha Dan ordered and was about to leave but I questioned his order.

"Why does he have to stay with me when I have my own beta?" I asked Dan, who paused and looked at me.

"Well, Gwen is busy cooking now, and she has many other tasks to do tonight. James will be with you in her place until she's done," Dan responded and walked away. Then I gazed at Caleb with an annoyed look on my face.

"I know this is your plan! It's your doing! To steal my child for yourself! A child you were so determined to kill that you poisoned me for it!" I yelled at him.

"You've got it all wrong! Yes, it's my plan, I agree on that. But I'm not doing it to take your child away from you. It's our baby. I'm doing it to free you both from this place. They've kept you caged for too long, Ava," Caleb said as he tried to approach me, but I yelled at him.

"And that cage! The cage is where my happiness lives! Before you stepped into this place, I had never been as happy as I was here, I was never happy when I was with you being a free person! It was all sorrow to me here and there! I beg of you, Caleb!"

"If you truly love me and my child as you claim, please give us space so we can smile, so we can be happy for once, at least!" I responded as he began to bring tears to my eyes again.

"Ava... I know that all you're doing is just an act! You're pretending! I can see through your facade! You still love me! How long will it take for you to admit it?" Caleb asked, and the words were supposed to be emotional, but that last sentence he used to end it annoyed me deeply.

"Caleb, I'm not admitting anything because I don't love you! Get over it. I'm no longer for you! That Ava you think was there for you before is definitely not the one standing in front of you," I responded to him.

"Then what happened to that kind-hearted soul who was pregnant with my child? What happened to that very soul that was willing to give up anything for me?"

"What happened to her?" he asked as tears began to fall from my eyes. "What happened to that Ava who lost everything just to protect me?" Caleb asked, and I swallowed my saliva and looked directly into his eyes.

"That Ava you're looking for is dead because you poisoned her! This is definitely another Ava standing in front of you," I said, taking a deep breath.

"You no longer mean anything to this Ava, and for your information, I will be getting mated to Alpha Dan in the next full moon! Count the days yourself. It's just a few days away, and I will officially become his Luna. So the sooner you get over me and my son, the better for you!" I responded with a firm voice and walked away with tears streaming down my face.

"Then I will keep trying! I will never stop until I have you back, Ava! You have my baby, so you are mine!" Caleb shouted at me, but I didn't act like I heard what he said.
