Episode 12: His Eyes Says It All
Ava.
If he's not here for a secret mission, then why did he lie about his name? Look at the way he's staring at me; his intentions don't seem pure. I might have to inform Alpha Dan that I can't accept him as his Beta. It just doesn't seem possible.
But before I could fully process my thoughts, Alpha Dan made up his mind. "Oh, I can see that you're doubting the young man. Don't worry, we should test him for a few days to a week. That way, you can decide whether he should become my Beta or not," Dan said, and I nodded in agreement.
"No, a week might be too long. I think one day is enough to determine if someone is good or not," I replied, and he nodded in response, stepping closer to me.
"You're right. Let's go with three days. Let me have my boy," Dan said, taking the baby from me and kissing my cheeks.
Caleb looked at the baby, then locked eyes with me and lowered his head. I know what he's trying to do; he can see the resemblance between the baby and himself.
"My boy," Dan said, touching the baby's ribs while little Sam, who doesn't understand anything, just looked at him.
"Such a cute baby boy. Can I hold him?" Caleb interfered, causing me to look at him with a worried expression. He looked back at me and extended his hand to Alpha.
"Of course, you can!" Alpha Dan said, handing my baby to Caleb, who then began to sing a song for Sam.
"You see? He could be better than Kennedy," Dan said to me, and I nodded in agreement.
"Yeah, you're right. I would still chose Kennedy over him," I responded, quickly taking my baby back from Caleb.
"Ava, I came to take him to reduce the stress for you. You've been a good mother. I should take him," Dan replied trying to collect the baby from me again.
"Don't worry, I'll be fine. I'll take care of him. A mother is never tired of taking care of her child," I responded.
"Of course, you're right, but he's not taking the baby away because you're tired. He wants to be a caring father too," Caleb interrupted, and I yelled at him.
"Your opinion was never needed! So shut your mouth!" I yelled, making Alpha Dan look at me in surprise.
Ava, why have you suddenly become so angry? He wasn't lying. I just want to be a good father too," Alpha Dan said, kissing my forehead once again.
"Let me have the baby, please?" Dan said, reaching out his hand. After a few seconds of hesitation, I decided to give him the baby.
"Don't worry about him for today. I'll take good care of him. Just take your bath and get some sleep, okay?" Alpha Dan said, and Caleb extended his hand again, causing me to look at him with a stern expression.
"You shouldn't have a Beta who has handled little children before and still be the one carrying a baby. Let me have him," Caleb requested. Without saying a word, Alpha Dan handed the baby over to Caleb again!.
Though Alpha Dan was the first person to step out of the room, Caleb is to join him.
Caleb gazed at me with a smirk before stepping out of the room, leaving me extremely worried.
Just as they were leaving my room, Gwen rushed in.
"What did they say? And why is Caleb with your baby? I saw him carrying Sam," Gwen asked, as I sat on the bed, tears streaming down my face.
"Come on, my lady. This is not the time to cry. This is not like when you were living with them, where you were nothing but Ava. But in here now, you are the Luna!" Gwen said, trying to console me. I looked up at her with tear-filled eyes.
"My pain is that Caleb was carrying the baby because Alpha Dan had appointed him as his beta which means he will forever be close to me again!," I replied.
"What? What happened to Kennedy? And how did Caleb and Alpha Dan become friends now? I thought they were not on good terms. Wasn't that what Alpha Dan told us earlier, the day we came here?" Gwen asked, and I nodded.
"Of course, that's exactly what he told us. But he doesn't know that Caleb is Alpha Zed's son, not just his son, but his successor. Caleb even lied to him, saying his name is James," I responded, placing my hand on my head in frustration.
"Why would Caleb put himself in the hands of his enemies and lie to them about his true identity? It simply means that he discovered we are here. But Ava, you can't let him intimidate you again," Gwen advised, sitting beside me.
"Ava, please, you have to be strong for your baby. You should never have let him take your baby, no matter what. You have to protect the baby with your life. He should be the one begging for mercy, not you crying for him," Gwen said, wiping away my tears.
"You have suffered enough because of him. Please, don't let that happen again," Gwen added.
"Then what the hell do you want me to do?" I asked, as Gwen grabbed my hand.
"What I want you to do is to understand that he frustrated you in the past because you were powerless. But now..."
"I want you to tap into that same power you used to save him when he rejected you. I want you to use that power and end him," Gwen suggested. I looked at her, realizing the sense in what she was saying.
I can't let Caleb torment me again after what he has done to me before. If ending him is the way to secure my baby, then I will have to use my witching powers to crush him within seconds.
"You are right, Gwen, but before that happens, I should send him a warning," I said and left the room to find him.
Gwen walked with me, as she always does, let me just say that she is my beta too and my strongest source of support and knowledge.
We headed outside the room to search for Caleb and find him alone. We needed to give him a serious warning to stay away from me and my son, or else face the consequences.
