Alpha Meret

PIPER

This was out of control. The attack just happened. While I couldn't do anything, they all tried to protect me. My eyes witnessed how they lost their lives, just because they were protecting me.

I couldn't do anything, when I insisted on telling them that I was Luna. It was suffocating, it was painful. I was damn useless.

Time seemed so long, and when it was all over. I only saw the shadow of Damon coming to save me.

The next day, I woke up with my whole body feeling sore. Almost every joint in my body ached to move. I fought back desperately. Those bastards almost succeeded in raping me, insulting me and degrading me.

“My Luna! You’re awake! I’ll prepare some warm water for you to soak in. Do you need anything else?”

I was shocked to see Mona enter my room, with a smile on her face, she called me Luna. Despite all that, I was amazed because she seemed to have recovered.

That's because shifters have the ability to heal themselves. Meanwhile, I'm just a human who can't do that. My blood is different from theirs.

“Are you okay, Mona?” I asked, just to make sure.

“Yes, I am very good!” she replied. She went into the bathroom, and came out a few moments later “I have prepared warm water for you, now you can soak, and I am sure your body will be much better afterward.”

I smiled faintly, unsure of what I would do next. I felt trapped in an uncertain situation. When I thought about going through with all these decisions, to pay off my debt, and help my brother.

However, on the other hand I was pressured by the position given to me. Being the Luna for the shifter race. The partner of the Alpha who was very influential in his area.

“What’s wrong, Luna? Can’t you get out of bed? Is your energy still not back?”

“Mona, can you just call me by my name? I don’t think the nickname Luna suits me.”

“I’m sorry, but….”

“Please, don’t call me that. I don’t think it suits me!” I said with a faint smile.

I was about to get out of bed, with the remaining strength I had I tried to do so. But, my steps stopped when I heard the sound of footsteps approaching.

"Alpha Damon!" said Mona, lowering her head and slowly stepping back. She left us.

Damon and I looked at each other, he stepped closer to me. The closer he got to me, the more I felt an uncertain pressure in my chest.

“I’m really sorry! It was all my fault,” he said.

I just kept quiet, because I really didn't know what to say to him. I was confused, on one hand I didn't want to disappoint him. On the other hand, I felt useless to him. This really made me suffer from the inside.

Damon carried my body bridal style, he took me into the bathroom. He took off my clothes slowly, with very gentle movements. Then immersed me in the bathtub.

While he was doing that, I just couldn't stop looking at his face.

***

It wasn't because I was fascinated by his handsomeness. I also didn't think he would give me the passion that aroused my sexual desire. But, it was like why did I have to go through all this trouble, but the longer it went on, the more I felt like I didn't know Damon.

Is it possible that he has a soft side like this? Is it possible that the man I have known so selfishly and annoyingly could have such a warm caring side like this? I don't think so at all, right?

“I killed all of them, who dared to touch your body!” he said.

I didn't know how to react to that, so I just stayed silent. I looked away, hoping Damon would come out of the bathroom, to leave me alone.

“You should be happy to be here, but I ruined everything. I even met Alpha in this area, just in case! But I let my guard down and….”

“It’s okay!” I said.

Damon flinched at my voice. I thought about not saying anything. But Damon talked too much. And that made me feel even worse.

"What?" he replied.

“It’s okay sir, it doesn’t matter to me now. I’ve thought about the risk of something like this happening to me, since Harper and his friends did something almost the same as this,” I said.

“Why do you say that? I am the one at fault in this situation. I was careless and…”

“You don’t deserve to feel guilty, it’s me who should feel that way. Because of protecting me, some of your men lost their lives.”

“It was their duty, and they died with honor!”

“They don't deserve to die, just to protect a mere human like me.”

Damon frowned, as if he didn't accept what I said. Honestly, I only said what I had to say. It was like I received a slap, for all the reality I got.

“Piper, I….”

“Can you let me do this alone? I’ll follow you downstairs when I’m done showering.”

I wish Damon wouldn't argue with me about this. He understood my anxiety, so he left without saying anything else.

I took a deep breath, feeling a bit tight and realizing it was lighter than I could control. As I was enjoying my time, everything ended in emptiness.

I wore a floral dress today, went downstairs to enjoy the view which I thought was very beautiful.

"Shall we have breakfast now?" Damon asked me.

I don't know what was going through my mind. This place is so beautiful, and I feel like I've wasted a place like this.

“Okay,” I said.

Damon and I sat at the same table, near the backyard balcony. It seemed like he purposely put the table here, so we could enjoy the fresh view while having breakfast.

“What did you do this morning?” I tried to open a conversation topic, so that the awkwardness between us would be reduced.

“I met Alpha Meret, visiting his pack!”

“Is everything okay?” I asked.

Damon stroked my cheek “I had to do something to punish them! I couldn’t stand it when they treated you like that, so I went there and searched for the den of those damn bandits”

“Can I visit there?” I asked.

"Where to?"

“To the Alpha Meret pack. I want to go there and meet Luna.”

I took a deep breath, all that was left of me was a way to convince myself. There was nothing I wanted to do, other than make sure my situation was okay. I was able to step, walk with real heart palpitations.

“Piper, I don’t think it’s a good idea to go there. Because….”

“I just want to meet their Luna. Let me go there!” I asked.

“But why?”

“No reason. I just wanted to go there. I wanted to blend in with the different shifter environment. I wanted to try to approach them, and blend in with them. I had a hard time blending in with your pack, for some reason.”

I hope Damon understands what I mean. It's kind of tiring if I have to explain things to him. I hate admitting my weakness.

Suddenly Damon put down his spoon. He rubbed the back of my hand, looked at me very seriously while smiling so softly. He managed to make my chest flutter again.

I bit my lower lip, to hold back the awkwardness I felt.

“Okay! When do you want to visit there?” he asked.

I tilted my head, thinking for a moment. Asking my own feelings, can I really go there?

“How about this afternoon?”

“Sure!”

I waited so patiently, until the afternoon I had been waiting for finally came. Damon took me on a motorbike, combing the outskirts of the city and ending up near a bridge. We crossed the bridge towards a different hill.

From there, I just followed Damon's lead, and he didn't let go of my hand at all. He held me so tightly, so firmly, that I would never be able to escape his grasp.

“We have entered their territory. It seems they have also noticed your scent,” Damon said to me.

I glanced in various directions, but my eyes didn't find anything. I thought, they were kind of hiding or something.

“This way,” Damon led me through a gate decorated with leaves and flowers. It looked beautiful, like I had just passed through a gate to another world.

“Welcome Alpha Damon, and Luna Piper!” suddenly a deep voice greeted our arrival.

“Beta Arka!” Damon greeted.

“Alpha Meret is still taking care of the problem you mentioned earlier, so for now I will take you to the pack. Luna Sonya is waiting for you there!” said Arka.

I held Damon's hand tighter, like oh my gosh. It turns out that after I was here, the atmosphere became even more different.

I still followed Damon's footsteps, until we arrived at the area. Some shifters were enjoying their time, and the atmosphere here was clearly very different from the atmosphere in Damon's pack.

“Beta Arka! Bring them here,” someone shouted from the corner of a classic-style house.
