Meet My Ex

PIPER

Since I accepted this contract marriage with Damon, my life has changed beyond what I could have imagined. For example, today, I have to go to campus for guidance from my supervisor because I am already in my final semester.

There were a few things I needed to fix for my essay, and as I stared at myself in the mirror, I took a deep breath.

"I feel like I've lost myself, why do I suddenly miss Jeffer?" I muttered. Well, ever since Damon put a tight watch on me. I was forced to end my relationship with Jeffer.

Jeffer was still trying to get close to me a few months ago. He was a good guy; he gave me the support I needed all this time, even though I didn't give him my whole feelings.

"Are you done getting ready?" Emma's voice made me jump like I had just been caught breaking the rules.

"Oh God, Emma!" I replied, rubbing my chest. Maybe because I had been muttering about Jeffer, I was afraid that Emma would hear me and misunderstand it.

"The driver is waiting for you downstairs!" she said again.

"What? That's not necessary!"

"That's necessary!" she replied flatly. Emma always showed me the calm side of her facial expression. She didn't let me read her facial expression. Even though I had worked under her for a long time as a maid in this mansion, I still couldn't understand her.

"Emma, I'm sorry. I really don't need a driver. I don't want to be the center of attention, especially if I…."

"I'm not here to hear your complaints, Piper!" Emma said again.

Emma walked away, and that meant she had made a final decision. Reluctantly, I stepped down. I found a black man with a muscular body like a killing machine had opened the car door for me.

"Thanks!" I said.

Gaston just nodded his head; he was the one who was watching me more often, I mean like a bodyguard watching me. I could smell a different scent from his body, and my common sense still couldn't accept this situation.

Ever since I learned the truth about shifters, werewolves, and even Damon being the Alpha of his pack, I've felt a slight change in myself. Like, my sense of smell has become more sensitive.

"You can go home first, it looks like I'll be dealing with my supervisor for a long time," I said.

Gaston shook his head. "I will wait here, as ordered!" he said.

I rolled my eyes lazily and slammed the car door roughly. This wasn't very pleasant, significantly, when several eyes glanced at me. It was not comfortable at all.

It took me a few hours to resolve my issues with my supervisor. There are still a few things I need to fix.

"I'm so done!" I complained. My eyes glanced towards the parking lot, and I hoped Gaston was no longer there, but he was patiently waiting for me. "Shit, what the hell" I grumbled.

"Piper!" said a voice I hadn't heard this close in a long time. I turned around and found Jeffery standing beside me.

"Jeffer!"

"We need to talk!" Jeffer immediately grabbed my arm.

I was restless, looking in various directions. I was afraid that Gaston would see us. I quickly pulled Jeffer's hand to move away.

It's been a long time since Jeff and I looked at each other like this.

"What's wrong with you! Why are you distancing yourself from me like this! Holly fucking God, you really didn't give me any explanation," he protested.

"Jeffer, I just….."

"I tried to approach you, but you always avoided me. You ended our relationship unilaterally. And, what's with that man who always drives you in a luxury car? Is he your new lover?"

"What?"'

"I know, you cheated on me, and chose that man, right? Then you just left me!"

"Oh my God, Jeffer! Just stop! I haven't even said anything to you yet!" I said.

Jeffer crossed his arms over his chest. His face was so hunted now, like yeah. I thought he had forgotten about me. I thought he had moved on and found another woman. But here he is now.

His eyes were still the same as when he first expressed his love for me. It made me wonder if Jeffer loves me. Does he have sincere feelings for me? I can't return his love this much.

"Then, explain it to me!" he asked.

"I…I just…" I said nervously. I was confused about what to say to him. I mean, it can't be said that I cheated. I let myself marry Damon because I wanted to save Johan.

"See, you can't explain anything!"

"Jeffer, I'm not as bad as you think! Just trust me, I'm not cheating. I've never done anything like that!"

"Your words don't make sense. Then why did you ask to break up with me? Was I not good enough for you? Was I…."

I put my finger to Jeffer's lips and wished he would stop saying so many things. Whatever he said, none of it was true.

Jeffer was silent; he took a deep breath, and his eyes turned dull. How he looked at me was full of hope; he wanted me to spend time with him again like before.

"If you left me not because of another man. Then what is the reason that makes you unable to explain anything to me? I am really hurt because of losing you, I love you, okay," he said.

Oh my God, look at how sweet he is to me. At the same time, I hurt him without thinking about the risks that will happen in the future. However, I can't lose Johan because he is my only family member.

"Jeffer, don't say anything anymore. We have different lives now. I've moved on, and you should do the same."

“How?”

“Please!”

“I will never be able to. Our relationship has been fine all this time, I don’t even see any flaws in you as my partner, so please. Can we start over? I miss you so much,” he said.

My chest felt tight, as Jeffer stepped closer to me, getting closer until it felt like the distance between us invited a sinful longing. Jeffer pulled my hand, he gave a soft touch on my cheek.

“I really missed you,” he said again, clearly intending to kiss my lips, but…

“Are you done with your essay guidance, Miss Piper?” a deep, hoarse voice suddenly startled us.

I reflexively pushed Jeffer away from me, because Gaston was standing there staring at him, as if he was going to tear Jeffer's body apart without leaving anything behind.

“Yes,” I answered, approaching Gaston. “Let’s go home now!” I ordered.

Gaston still stood straight, with his fists clenched. His eyes were fixed straight to stare at Jeffer.

“Piper? We’re not done talking!” Jeffer said.

I cringed, Jeffer shouldn't have spoken. I mean, I really didn't want anything bad to happen to him.

Gaston was about to step forward, it was clear he wanted to throw a punch at Jeffer. However, I quickly grabbed Gaston's strong arm "Please! I want to go home, now!" I said, putting emphasis in my tone.

Gaston growled, oh my. His eyes were truly like a wild animal. I gripped his arm tighter. “Gaston!” I scolded, my voice getting heavier.

For a moment, the atmosphere felt tense for me. Gaston finally obeyed me, he pulled my hand towards the car. The way he touched me was not rough, it was just that there was a firmness that I felt from him.

The car sped towards the mansion, and during the ride, I could see Gaston glancing at me every now and then through the rear window.

"I didn't do anything with it, so don't think anything wrong!" I said.

“Hmmm!” Gaston replied, muttering.

“How did you know I was there?”

"From your body odor," he said again.

I almost forgot, that he was a werewolf. Of course it was easy for him to find me, especially since I was just a human, like a piece of fresh meat to them. I was like a prey that they could easily catch.

“I told you to wait for me in the car, right?”

“You’ve been out too long, past your time limit,” he said again. That was the reason he took the initiative to look for me.

When I arrived at the mansion, I didn't even say anything to Gaston. I hurriedly stepped inside, but I caught a glimpse of Gaston talking to Emma. I tried not to care.

My life in this mansion is too cramped. Every step I take seems to be a target for their mistakes. Wherever I go, they always watch me. It's suffocating.

“I have no appetite!” I grumbled. Glancing at the sumptuous dishes already placed on the round table. These past few days, the servants had brought dinner to my room.

“Miss Piper! It’s me!” Emma knocked on my door.

I rolled my eyes lazily “Yes Emma!”

Emma came in, taking a deep breath “What have you done today? I told you not to have anything to do with this man anymore” she said.

My brow furrowed, and I realized Gaston had already complained about what he saw today.

“It’s not like I have no right to socialize out there. We’re just chatting,” I said.

“You can chat with anyone, but not with people who will provoke Alpha Damon's anger.”

“Oh my God, Jeffer is my friend, he helped me a lot while I was in college. Damon doesn’t know anything!” I said annoyed.

“Alpha Damon doesn’t see things like that. He just knows, something that bothers him, then it deserves to be removed!”

“Including taking the life of an innocent person?”

“Yes!” Emma replied firmly. She took a deep breath, adjusting her facial expression. “I mean, for you, maybe that person is innocent, but for Alpha Damon, he is the one who makes the judgment,” she said.

I shook my head in disapproval, it felt like such a rule just didn't make sense to me. I really wasn't happy with the way Damon was solving his problem.

“I don’t care,” I replied irritably. Closing my book, I went back to bed.

I pulled my blanket, covering my whole body. To hell with today, I don't want to think about anything "Leave me alone" I grumbled

"Gaston saw you hugging this man."

"I don't care"

“Oh my gosh, you have no idea what you've done!”

“Emma, please! Just leave me alone,” I whined.

The sound of my bedroom door closing, but I knew that Emma would never really leave my room. Maybe because I was approaching my period, I felt emotionally unstable. I cried, and the tears just flowed.

Three days later, I tried to live my life as usual. When I was doing rope jumping in my room, to keep my body fit. I heard cheers from downstairs.

I peeked out of my bedroom window, and found Damon surrounded by several people. So, he had returned from his business trip.

“Hah, this mansion feels more like hell with him here,” I grumbled.

I stayed in my room, until Emma approached me “Alpha Damon is back, welcome him!” she said.

“No need! I’m not his real wife, I don’t need to do that kind of thing.”

“Piper?” Emma’s voice rose slightly.

I rolled my eyes lazily, “Fine!” I said annoyed, and reluctantly walked downstairs.

Once I was down the stairs, I stopped walking because I heard Luther and Damon talking.

“You have no idea how bad her attitude was while you were outside,” Luther said.

My brow furrowed, were they talking about me?

“That’s why I asked you to keep an eye on Piper, right?” Damon said.

“She has gone too far this time. What’s with the kiss? Hugging another man, kissing another man, even though she’s your wife!” Luther said.

My chest was pounding, what the heck? Luther made up a story about me and Jeffer meeting?
