Chapter 29
Chapter 29
Amelia's POV.
Kaiden's refusal to hug Elara gladdened my heart. I felt happy and relaxed seeing that he had refused that pest's advance, and I knew he did that because of me, even though he would not admit it.
I felt a bit guilty for going around with Damien and even allowed kiss my eyes while he avoided hugging Elara because of me. I thought he would go ahead and do that since he had gone ahead to go for a stroll with her.
I knew he was angry, and he did that out of anger for what I did the previous day. I was expecting him to finish up with what he had started; after all, I had caused it all, but to my surprise, he turned her advances down.
‘That serves her right’ I smirked in my mind.
I was beginning to dislike the Elara of a girl, I knew it was nothing else but jealousy that was overriding me. I had been acting like the entire thing was not getting to me but that was only a pretense I was putting up to keep my revenge plan running smoothly.
I knew I was also into Kaiden as much as he was into me but my constant quest to avenge my past kept me on the edge of realizing how deeply some of my actions were affecting Kaiden, now that he was already mad at me, I couldn't help but feel guilty and jealous when I see another girl around him.
Just after Elara left, to my surprise, Kaiden also turned and left without even taking a glance at me. He ignored me totally like I had never existed, his action sent a thud of pain into my heart. My heart squeezed in pain as I watched his back disappear from view.
For a second, I could not believe what just happened. I had thought he would look my way, but he ignored me without blinking an eye. I never knew Kaiden, whom I had known for some time now, would act that way towards me. He would never act this way towards me, but he did so just now to me without even thinking twice.
‘Must he be this mad at me? He knows too well that I didn't mean any of this’ I thought to myself as anger crawled into the back of my head.
“Shall we continue?” Damien's echoed in, moving me from my thoughts.
“Yes, let's go,” I said and followed him.
I had to continue strolling with Damien even when I didn't want to, I just had to continue with the entire thing, I couldn't walk back alone and leave Damien whom I had come out with initially, he would know that I did it because of Kaiden and that will ruin my plans because he will also be mad at me.
Damien will know that everything I have been doing all this while was all a pretense, and I would not want to take such chances. My mind was no longer there all through the stroll, all I just wanted was to get home and get done with this damn walk I was having with Damien.
It was already evening when Damien and I finally got back to the pack house, I left Damien and headed for my room. I also looked around for Kaiden but there was no trace of him anywhere in the pack house that evening.
I decided to check for him in his room, perhaps he would be there. Getting to Kaiden's room, to my surprise, he was not there. I searched for him everywhere in his room, but he was nowhere in the room.
I got back to my room, worried and restless as I wondered where he could be at that moment. He was supposed to be back already, but he was nowhere in the pack house or even in his room. My mind drifted as I started thinking of where he could possibly be.
Where could he be? Could it be that he went back to Elara? What will he be doing with her? Why is he doing this to me?
So many questions range in my mind as thoughts about Kaiden and Elara; I prayed it was not what I was thinking. Just then, I heard a knock on my door, and my heart leaped at the sound of the door; I quickly went to open the door, thinking it would be Kaiden, but to my disappointment, it turned out to be a maid. She had come to ask me to come over for dinner, but I dismissed her, telling her that I was okay and would not want the dinner.
“How would I have dinner when I have no appetite?” I muttered under my breath after the maid left.
I was already in an unstable state of mind because Kaiden was not yet back; having back was the only thing on my mind at that moment, and not some sort of dinner that I would have with people that don't even care about me. Come to think of it, how would I even be able to eat with those people without Kaiden in the picture? I will obviously not enjoy the meal.
Later that night, I decided to retire to bed, but unfortunately for me, I was unable to get to sleep; I was up all night thinking about Kaiden all night, anticipating his return every second and the minutes that passed. I waited until nature stole my presence and my mind from my anticipation. But just when I thought I could finally sleep, I was forced up again by images of Kaiden together with Elara. I stood up from the bed and sleep disappeared from my eyes entirely. My heart skipped in constant fear of losing Kaiden to Elara.
—------------------
I stayed up all night waiting for Kaiden but there was no trace of him. Early in the morning the next day, there was a sudden noise on Kaiden's door, someone had just opened his door.
My heart leaped, and my anticipation rose as my mind quickly went to Kaiden. I got up from the bed I had been sitting on and rushed to check if it was Kaiden.
To my disappointment, it turned out that it was not Kaiden; rather, it was just a maid who was appointed to clean his room that morning; Kaiden was still not back even that morning. I returned to my room, disappointed and broken. I got ready and went downstairs to have my breakfast.
“Where is Kaiden? Isn't he joining us for the br,eakfast Maya?” Luna Bella asked me during the breakfast. I was taken by suddenly by her question, but I quickly feigned like nothing had happened.
“I do not know where he is; I haven't seen him this morning,” I answered, focusing my attention on my meal.
“She shouldn't be the one answering the question mom, Kaiden is a man and can do whatever he chooses to do. Probably he has gone out to go get himself satisfied at the brothel, he is a single man, with no Luna, mistress, or even a lover so he will obviously need that” Damien said.
