Chapter 28

Chapter 28

Amelia's POV.

Damien's offer worsened my mood; he stood there watching me intently as he awaited my reply. I stared at him for some minutes in disdain; his deep brown eyes that had been gazing at me in anticipation made me more upset and exasperated; it was all adding to my anger.

I just wanted to dismiss him and go get some rest. Everything was just upsetting. The fact that Kaiden left me and left with Elara made me more upset, I only wanted his attention but it seemed like I ended up ruining everything.

“I would love to…” I suddenly pulsed my words as the word reflected on my mind.

‘The revenge’

I had almost forgotten everything about the major thing that had brought me here, I had been so upset and carried away by my anger for Kaiden's current change of behavior that I forgot about my quest for revenge which was the major thing that brought me to Bloodmoon.

‘No, you can do that; you need it to perfect your plans,’ I thought to myself as I quickly changed the word I had wanted to alter, which was to dismiss Damien; his proposal would only foster the flourishing of my plans after all.

“Umm…I–I love to do that,” I said and feigned a smile.

“Very well then, shall we?...” he said and I nodded gently before he took the lead.

We strode around the pack and showed me so many beautiful places in the pack. We also tried to keep the walk alive with stories of the origin of some things we had come across in the course of our walk and how they got to be in the pack.

All through the walk and his story, my mind was entirely in a different place, I was only body present but absent-minded. I only nodded to his conversations and feigned a smile in order not to make him notice that I was not following up with him.

My entire mind was fixed on Kaiden and where he would be with Elara. I wanted so badly to stop my walk with Damien and go search for Kaiden, but I could not; I had to keep to my act so I could achieve my goals.

“How do you feel now Maya?” Damien asked sweetly as we approached a small bridge in the center of the pack that leads to the other side of the pack.

“I feel much more relaxed and better now. Thank you for the walk,” I said, faking a smile.

“You don't have to thank me, I'm happy I could do something that helped soothe your mood, I just want you to be okay always and relax your mind as long as you are in my pack” Damien said sweetly and I smirked inwardly and nodded slightly, faking a smile.

Seeing how he was staring at me romantically, I decided to do something that would make him think that I was all into the game he was playing. I looked away as we continued with the walk, and he also did the same,  refocusing his attention on the stroll, which was the initial business that had brought us out.

Just as we were about to step into the small bridge, I pretended to have missed my step unconsciously and slipped. In the process, Damien quickly offered help and caught me before I could fall to the ground.

He helped me up and stared into my eyes for what seemed like ten seconds, holding my hand; I blinked my eyes and looked away before he suddenly remembered himself. I smirked inwardly in disgust as I watched him try to shake off whatever it was that must have been drawing him in.

“Yours are so beautiful, they look so captivating and special. I must commend that you are really beautiful,” he said sweetly and I smiled in appreciation while staring at him.

He seemed to be too drawn to my eyes as he had claimed that he suddenly started to lower towards me. I was confused for some seconds and wondered what it was that I wanted to do. I wanted to move back and out of his hold, but I decided to remain calm on a second thought to find out what it was that he wanted to do.

Just then, Damiem gently placed a kiss on my eyes before drawing back. His action surprised me, and at the same time, I wondered why he did that.

I know Damien too well, and I know the kind person he was so I was not entirely surprised that he did what he just did. He is the casanova type and at the same time, he easily gets into women, he had claimed to love me once and he also did the same with Freya.

I know he was just playing this game to get me to himself but unknown to him that he was the one falling victim in his own game, though he was trying to pretend like nothing was happening but I know what was going on with him.

“Thank you” I said and smiled boldly at him to make him feel better.

“You are welcome, you deserve more than this.” He said and smiled back.

I had wanted to push him away when he did that but I decided not to on a second thought, I decided to do that only when I saw that he had fallen too deeply in love with me. I know that if I should push him away now and dismiss the entire thing, he would not feel broken the way I wanted, so I decided to flow with everything until the targeted time; for now, I will just have to make myself like me more.

Just then, a sudden sound of giggling from a familiar voice got our attention, I thought I was the only one that heard but it turned out Damien also heard it.

“Whose voice was that?” Damien asked, looking at me in surprise.

“I don't know,  but the voice sounds familiar,” I replied.

“Yeah you are right, I think I have heard her voice somewhere before.

We knew we were the only people across the bridge, and we hadn't noticed any other presence there aside from the two of us, and no one had walked over there except us. I wondered who it could be that seemed familiar to both Damien and me.

Just then, they both emerged from our back, Kaiden and Elara. My little instinct was justified as I saw Elara, I knew it would be her because the voice sounded so much like hers, and the fact that Damien also felt like he is familiar with the voice made me know that it would be someone the both of us knows. And here, it turned out to be Elara.

I suddenly started to feel guilty as I saw Kaiden. I felt like I had caused it all and that I was wrong in what I was doing. I must have not done anything bad with Damien, but the fact that I was out here with him made me feel like I was hurting Kaiden, more like I was cheating on him.

‘But I didn't do anything wrong, I was just following our plans. Why is he doing this?’ I thought to myself as I saw he had walked side by side with Elara who was blushing and smiling ear to ear beside him and hooking her arm with his own.

“Silly girl” I muttered under my breath as I rolled my eyes at her and also hooked my arm with that of Damien with anger boiling up to my guts.

I didn't want to do what I was doing but I had to do it to keep everything flowing. Damien who saw my sudden act smiled sweetly at me, that was what he had always wanted and he got it today on a platter of gold. Just then, a maid walked over and greeted us before turning to Elara to deliver her message.

“It is time to return home my lady” the maid said to Elara in a tone that was almost a whisper.

Elara ignored her, still fixing her eyes on Kaiden, who wasn't paying attention to her the way she was doing to him.

“I will be leaving now, I will visit again,” she said to Kaiden, smiling ear to ear.

“Very well then, see you then,” Kaiden said and smiled back.

She then made her way to hug Kaiden but he took a step backward, refusing to hug her. Elara ignored his action and laughed over it before weaving him goodbye which he also returned and she left.
