Chapter 241 The Richest Woman

Chapter 241 The Richest Woman
Thorin kept staring at the little girl. Her manner of speaking, her voice, her sassiness, everything was too cute to miss. And her eyes were not letting him look anywhere else.
“Mom says yuck liquid is for grown-ups. Yuck liquid makes grown-ups smart, but you don’t look smart,” said Valeska with a condescending tone. “My mom is very smart. She says sorry when she makes a mistake.”
Thorin’s eyes grew wider when she started speaking long sentences. The movement of her lips, the shape of her lips and her chin were extremely familiar. His heart started beating faster; he knew if Eve ever had a daughter, she would look like this little sassy angel standing before him.
“Little girl! Do you have any idea who you are talking to?” said Vespera.
“I am sorry; she is just a kid. Please don’t mind. I am Eleanor, her grandmother. I will make her understand everything, sorry.”
“Grandma! Why are you saying sorry? He should be sorry. He made a mistake,” pouted Valeska.
“Vale!!” snapped Eleanor.
Thorin knelt down to her level and asked, “Why do you think it’s my mistake? You too bumped into me. Is that not your fault?” asked Thorin.
“I am a kid. I was looking around for things to buy for my mom, and these tall men and women didn’t let me see. You are so tall, you can look over them. Why didn’t you see?” asked Valeska.
“Tall men and women?” laughed Thorin. “You mean mannequins?”
“Yes, yes, man… man quillin,” stammered Valeska.
“Okay, it was my fault. I am sorry!” said Thorin, smiling.
“Thorin!” snapped Vespera. But Thorin ignored her. he had his eyes only for Valeska.
“I am sorry that I destroyed your cute dress. Will you let me buy one for you?” asked Thorin.
“No!” said Valeska with determination. “Mom says never to take anything from strangers. My mom will buy 10 more dresses for me. She is the richest person on the planet. You said sorry; that is enough. Good man!”
Thorin scoffed and laughed. His bodyguards joined in, but Vespera was getting angry. She laughed and taunted Valeska, “richest woman? Then your mother is a liar!”
“Vespera!” snapped Thorin. “She is a kid. Calm down!”
“No! Let’s ask her how much money she has,” chided Vespera.
“Money? What is she talking about? I didn’t say my mother has money. I said she is the richest,” replied Valeska with gusto.
“Huh? What? Money makes people rich, little girl,” said Vespera, bowed down and pinched Valeska’s cheeks.
“No! You are wrong,” Valeska jerked her hand away. “Mom says if you have abun… abandt of love, care and happiness in your life, you are the richest person.”
“Abandt?” asked Thorin, confused but amused.
“She means abundance. Please don’t mind her. She just loves talking. Valeska, say sorry. You too bumped into him. Being a child does not mean you can get away with mistakes. What did Mom tell you?” explained Eleanor.
“That we should accept when we make mistakes. Fine! I am sorry too. Do you want me to buy you another yuck liquid?” asked Valeska.
“Will you let me buy you a dress?” asked Thorin.
“No!” replied Valeska.
“Then you don’t have to buy me another yuck liquid,” said Thorin. he looked at Eleanor and politely said, “Please let me pay for the cleaning cost. Poor girl is drenched in coffee; she must be feeling cold.”
“No, it’s okay. I have a spare dress in my bag. I will change her. Thank you,” smiled Eleanor.
“You have a sweet grandchild. Her parents must be so happy,” said Thorin.
“Yes!” smiled Eleanor and grabbed Valeska’s hand. “Come on!” Valeska looked at Thorin, stuck her tongue out and walked away with Eleanor. Thorin froze in his stance but soon started laughing, watching Valeska walk away from him.
He slowly stood up and decided to walk in the other direction when his nose was hit by a familiar smell. His eyes went wide, and he froze in his tracks.
“Mommy!!!” he heard Valeska shouting with excitement, and he immediately turned around to look for the owner of the smell. The smell was extremely strong. He knew his Eve was close. His breath shuddered, but the very next second, the feeling of peace overpowered him.
“Vale!” he heard the sweet voice, and every hair on his body stood up.
“Eve…” he mumbled and took a deep breath. He wanted to fill his lungs with her smell. In his passion for getting as much of her smell, he even forgot to go after her. He stood frozen with a content smile on his face and breathing deeply.
“Thorin? Are you alright? Why are you not moving?” called Vespera, but Thorin didn’t reply.
“Come on, sweetie!” said the sweet voice far away from him. He knew it was the voice that professed her love for him that night. He could never forget that voice.
“Eve! Eve!” gasped Thorin and almost ran towards the voice. He kept following two ladies and a small girl, but soon he was stopped by a huge crowd coming out of the cinema hall. The movie was finished, and everyone was giggling and talking about the movie. Thorin kept bumping into people. He tried hard to follow the three ladies, but they were gone. His Eve was gone again. He lost the smell, that soothing voice, that peace.
“No! No! No! Come back!! Not again!” shouted Thorin and punched a nearby wall. The tiled wall shook, and a few tiles cracked, and a few dropped to the floor with a crashing sound. Everyone immediately looked at him. Thankfully, he didn’t use his powers, neither alpha power nor his telekinesis.
Vespera and his bodyguards came running to him. Due to the crowd, they too were blocked from moving forward.
“Your Highness! Are you alright?” asked one bodyguard.
“Stop it! Don’t call him that in public!” snapped Vespera.
“Sorry, my lady, sorry, Miss Calder. I almost forgot,” said the bodyguard and lowered his head immediately.
“I am alright. We are going home,” ordered Thorin.
“But Thorin, you promised me you would buy everything I want,” pouted Vespera. But Thorin ignored her and walked ahead. The bodyguards gulped and started pulling Vespera with them.
“Let’s go! We don’t want him to use his alpha powers. His is greater than even the king’s,” whispered the bodyguard, and Vespera nodded. She cleared her throat and started following Thorin urgently. She knew what kind of power Thorin possessed. She had experienced it, and she didn’t want to experience it anymore. She felt like her internal organs were being crushed, and one time was enough for her.
All the way back home, Thorin didn’t speak a word. He kept his gaze out of the car and kept thinking about Eve. Why, after coming to Veyantara, he felt like he would find Eve here. But his spies had done everything to find her. They had searched every corner of the world yet could not find her. So why did he keep getting the whiff of her smell everywhere he went?
