Chapter 239 The Introduction Meeting
Chapter 239 The Introduction Meeting
After Corvin’s efforts, Thorin’s breath shuddered, and he closed his eyes. Slowly, everything started falling on its place. “Come on, we have work to do!” said Corvin and Thorin nodded. He washed his face with cold water, calmed himself even more and walked with Corvin to the conference room.
The authoritative alpha aura made everyone stand up in respect. The suit Thorin was wearing was perfectly fitted to his frame. The clothes looked like second skin. Every woman inside the cabin gulped with lust after looking at him. He looked just yummy. Vespera kept smiling, thinking that Thorin belonged to him. But his eyes landed on Vella.
She smelled faintly like Eve, but she didn’t look anything like her. Why was she smelling like her?
“You feel it too, right?” asked Corvin without even moving his lips. Thorin looked at him and telepathically replied, “Yes, but that aura, that feeling is not there, and she looks nothing like her.”
“But how is she smelling like her?” asked Corvin.
“No idea! Maybe she knows Eve. Maybe Eve stood next to her, and her smell rubbed off on her,” suggested Thorin.
“Hmm… maybe you are right,” replied Corvin.
“I am sorry, I had to leave abruptly. Let’s do this again. My name is Thorin Blackridge; I will be your temporary VP. We are here to see this small yet highly successful office turn into an IT hub. We have a long way to go, and I want to start as soon as possible. Let’s discuss what we need, and then we will help each other grow more,” smiled Thorin.
Thessia gestured for him to sit down at the head of the table, but Thorin refused, “No, you are the leader, real leader. I am just here to help you. I cannot take your place.”
Everyone was taken aback. The richest person on the planet, the most powerful person on the planet, the man who was there as the VP was giving respect to the director and telling everyone that he was not there to grab power, but to help everyone get more power. Suddenly, a feeling of pride engulfed everyone. If their boss was so kind and polite, they would definitely achieve everything they wanted to.
“Okay, let’s start with the introduction. These two are our Programme managers, Niralith Moonfang and Aeltharix Silvermane. They oversee all the projects we have, but they are just here for the decoration,” Thessia announced, and everyone laughed at her tease. “Real work is done by our delivery managers and project managers.” She introduced every person to Thorin one by one and immediately gasped, “Whe… where is Maeve?”
Thorin felt like he was hit by lightning. The woman everyone wanted him to meet was nowhere to be found. Thessia immediately looked at Vella and asked, “Where is Maeve?”
“Um… she had a meeting with a client. She said it was urgent and that she had to leave,” replied Vella.
“Why didn’t you stop her? She should have at least waited for the introduction session,” snapped Thessia.
“Come on, Thessia! We all know how she is. When she puts her mind to something, she finishes that job. That’s why you have given her full rein to do whatever she wants, and she has always given us results. She can meet with Mr Blackridge later. Sorry, please don’t mind, Mr Blackridge,” said Aeltharix.
“Everyone wanted me to meet, and she is gone. Couldn’t she wait for a few minutes? What the hell does she think about herself?” Thorin gritted his teeth and clenched his fists tightly in anger. Corvin kept smiling at everyone and stealthily grabbed Thorin’s hand to calm him down. Thorin cleared his throat and sat up straight.
“Okay! Um… sorry, who among you was the HR?” asked Thorin. Isara Thornwolf nodded at him. “Ms?”
“Isara Thornwolf, sir!” she replied.
“Sorry, I need more time to remember your names,” said Thorin, politely.
“No worries, sir!”
“Okay, then we need a lot of things from you. Contact Aguilar Emerson from the law department, Othvarin Zayandhra from the real estate department and Rupdred Duskclaw from the finance department. We need them here if we are going to expand the offices. We need finances, and we need either an already constructed building or land. We also need to decide whether to buy or lease. That was about the IT hub. But I have two more things I need from this office. I need a team that can help me get into robotics and a special project, details of which will only be disclosed in front of the team selected,” announced Thorin. Isara kept noting every point in her notepad.
“Disclosed? A team? What do you mean?” asked Thessia.
“I have brought a few tests. The people who can solve those tests will be selected. And those people will be free to select their own team,” said Thorin. Vespera immediately cleared her throat. Thorin glanced at her and smiled, “Vespera will help me figure out all the other recruitment, like more engineers, more coders, more HR, and all the staff we need in future.” Vespera looked stunned for a minute. She was there to select the special team, but Thorin just announced that she would help with the recruitment of other people. She didn’t like that fact. She felt as if Thorin had just slapped her in the face with an insult.
She gritted her teeth but kept her smile intact. She was going to chide Thorin when they were alone.
“Ms Isara, please start sending the news that Blackridge Corporation is ready to recruit more people. I think two weeks would be enough for you?” asked Thorin.
“Okay, I will start the recruitment process for a few more people in HR first, and then we will announce to the world that they can start sending CVs for all the positions we would need in future. I will prepare a full docket and show it to you in five days. Will that be okay?” asked Isara.
“That will be extremely fine! Thank you!” smiled Thorin. “And about the tests, when do you think every senior IT personnel will be ready?” asked Thorin of Thessia.
Aria scoffed and mumbled, “Why are we even doing the tests? Maeve will win; everyone knows that.” Thorin was irked after her taunt. But he knew that she was not jealous; she was rather proud of the fact that Maeve would win. Aria thought she spoke softly, but to her dismay, everyone heard her. Thessia cleared her throat to make her realise that everyone heard her.
“Oh, sorry!” Aria immediately apologised.
“Why do you say that?” asked Thorin, angrily. “You have doubts about your talent? With what I heard, you were one of the people who stopped the cyber attack?”
