Chapter 59 Blade Helped Me

Chapter 59 Blade Helped Me
Laura's POV.
"Been going out often with Blade, huh?" Mack inquired once I walked into her place. Rather than respond to her question, I gave one look at her and smiled. "Wow, you never told me you were waiting for me. When did you come?" Mack stood up and peered outside the window. I heard Blade's car drive away. She nodded her head several times and her lower lips went up as if deep in thought. She made a single clicking sound with her tongue before returning to her seat. I sat down on the sofa at her side. "Do we have a problem?" A small frown appeared on my face but I forced a small smile on my face. Mack sighed. I had a feeling it had something to do with Blade, but I didn't want to push it. Not after I had made dangerous plans with him. I felt like I would slip up and tell her. "It's nothing. I'm just concerned about you. Are you feeling okay?" She pushed open the curtains and light filled the room. "I feel normal as usual—I'm tired of everyone asking me that question, let's talk about something else," I said sitting forward. Mack's eyes were glued to my face. "Did you just gain weight?" "What?!" She moved away from the curtains and touched me. "You are gaining weight?!!! Wow! I didn't notice at all!" She screamed. "What— what are you doing! Mac—Mack!!!" I screamed when she groped my breast. I hugged my chest and moved back. "Fucking hell, what's come over you? I know you are crazy but you are suddenly turning lesbian on me!" "Don't worry, I only do men." She laughed. "Although there was one time, I was drunk at the bar and I think I did an orgy fest with some girl—" "Eww!" I pushed her away and got to my feet. Now that she mentioned it. I definitely felt lighter on my feet and I didn't have any recollection of body pain in the morning. When last did I cough? My brain was still trying to figure that out when Mack suddenly appeared in front of me with a mirror. "See for yourself, you are looking normal. Your face is still pale, but there's some color there now," she said. I grabbed the mirror from her and stared at my face. How? I couldn't say it was the drugs because I had skipped sometimes. I ignored the drugs or took them once per day or not at all. I breathed deeply, and the pain was almost non-existent. "It must be an effect of Juli—" she stopped under the nastiest glare I could manage. "Chill, it's probably from the Lycan-king's blood." "Better. Whatever it is, it's nothing." I shrugged. It was pretty normal for cancer patients to relapse after some improvement. I wasn't a special case. "You should see the doctor; this is a massive improvement," she said. "It's nothing. I'm telling you," I reminded her. I stood at the window, having a mental simulation of how the coming days will be. It was true that Julian brought me back to life and paid my bills and everything. He saved my life, I couldn't overlook that but he was my enemy. Yet I couldn't help thinking of killing my enemies was the right way to get back at him? Wouldn't that make me any different? "Laura?!" Mack literally shook me out of my thoughts. I looked down at her as if I had seen a ghost. I was completely shaken out of composure. "Whoa! You suddenly look pale? What's wrong Laura? Do you feel sick?" She asked. I shook my head and groaned. "Jeez, don't scare me like that again. I was thinking about something." Mack folded her hands. "Don't give me that crap, I know you are planning something. I know you are hiding something from me, your eyes say it all." "Why don't you tell me what's on my mind, huh?" I glared at her. "I told you it's nothing, why can't you just drop it? Maybe if you were dying like me, it wouldn't be—" "It's Julian right?" Her eyes narrowed at me— not even taking offense. I fell silent for a second and looked away but that was a mistake. It gave away my thoughts. "Shut up! It's not— Don't bring up his name in front of me." I growled and raised a finger. "I'm tired, please don't stress me more." "Look, I don't think I can stop you—" "You can't." I shook my head, cutting her off. But Mack never gave up. "But, I just want to tell you to be careful. Julian is indeed a very terrible person, but let's not forget that he is still your mate. He always turned up when it mattered, remember," she said and my world froze. She placed a hand on my shoulder and I looked at it, running my eyes from her fingers to her shoulders and then to her face. "What? What the hell are you—" I scoffed mid-sentence. "I can't believe you are saying that, Mackenzie." I slapped her hand away and began to head to the door. "Laura!" "Don't tell me that shit again!" I pointed a finger at her. "I can't take this anymore." I put my phone in my pocket and walked even faster. "Laura, please calm down and think about it." She pleaded behind me but I was done. "Calm down and think about what?!" I screamed at her. "When it mattered? He was with another woman when I lost my child!" Mack struggled with a comeback but my point was too solid. I covered my face. Tears had begun to form again, I really didn't want to cry. "He killed my father, along with the members of our pack and you say he always turned up? Bullshit!" "Laura, I'm sorry." Mack apologized. I knew she meant it, but I wouldn't take Julian like that. Never. "The only person—" I stopped to pull the door and glared at her. "—that turned up when it mattered was Blade. Not Julian, so sorry you got your facts wrong." "Laura, okay listen. Let me hail a taxi for you, please let me help you even if you won't hear it." Mack pleaded. I didn't reply. I got up and walked out of her door with her behind me. When we got out, she hailed a cab for me and I looked back at her. I just couldn't stay mad at her forever. "I'm going," I sounded tough but I was breaking up inside. "Laura— wait." Mack held out her hand. She closed her eyes. "There's actually something I want to tell you." I folded my hands and narrowed my eyes at her. "Please be careful with Blade, I don't really trust him after the accident you had. You were with him, remember?" "What are you saying?" I hissed, already hating myself for waiting. "I saw him talking to Sarah and it was sort of suspicious... I just want you to be careful around him," she warned. "Blade helped me. He didn't try to kill me, and I won't listen to anything you have to say against him, you hear me?" I didn't bother to listen to her response and I got into the taxi. "Let's go," I ordered. The driver's eyes met with mine from the rearview mirror. He nodded and drove away. I didn't bother looking back at Mack as we left. The way she talked about Julian, it was as if she had forgotten what he did to the pack and me. My father died, I wouldn't forget that face he made when he breathed his last. Julian had caused that pain. He was going to get punished. Any method, good or bad, I would use it to get back at him. When I got home, I avoided my mom and climbed up the stairs. My mood was already foul, and all I wanted was for Julian to die. I wanted it to happen soon. I felt that delaying it would make me lose my ferocity in this matter. When I opened my bedroom door, a black box was on my bed. I was tempted to ask my mother who dropped it when I opened it. The moment I saw the small note with the name Blade written boldly; I smiled. A small bottle— a vial that was barely the size of my pinky was wrapped in bubble wrap. The transparent liquid inside screamed poison and I laid it gently on the bed. There was a beautiful dress in the box, but I ignored it and looked deeper inside. There was another note contained instructions on the application—just like I thought. "Pour it in his drink or liquid food," the note said. My heart started beating as I held the note. I looked down at the poison, thinking about my reason for going forward because I was paralyzed with fear of what I would do next. My reason? My father. My father was innocent. He didn't murder anybody's sister. The massacre of the pack and the innocent children that died that day. My breathing calmed and I held out my phone. I was full of resolve, there was no time to think about it. My father had to find peace. "Julian, let's talk. Dinner tomorrow at Chester. Come alone." I texted him and dropped my phone. I had to put an end to this.
