Chapter 58 That's Extreme
Chapter 58 That's Extreme
Laura's POV.
I never thought that I could harbour so much hate for a person. Until Julian happened. Not a day passed by, where I thought of numerous ways to end Julian's life. He walked around, carrying pack duties, paying off my father's funeral as if he were a good person, but it didn't change that he was the one who sent my father to an early grave. When I remembered that I actually loved him, I felt disgusted in myself. If there were a way, I would have gone back in time to warn myself not to fall for him in that cafe, several years back. It had only been a trap. It was to get undeserved revenge on my father who had been innocent. Two weeks after my father's burial, the pain was still fresh in my heart. I didn't have tears to spare, but I had a lot of hate for the world for Julian. And I wouldn't let him be, he had to pay with his life. I requested a meeting with Blade at a local Café. It was about time I stepped out. Staying at my mother's place wasn't doing it for me anymore. For all I knew, my mother being involved with Sarah, who had somewhat played a part in my hardship, was a hard nut to swallow. Blade and I finally met up at the entrance. "Hey, I got your text late. How are you doing?" He asked. I looked down at my hands and jeans. "I'm fine. Thanks for asking," I replied. "Let's head inside; I've been waiting for ten minutes; my legs feel sore." Blade held the door for me as I walked in. I felt his eyes on my back, scanning for any anomalies on my body. To myself, I looked rather fine, I had taken my medication and wore a heavy wool sweater on jeans in case it got cold. We got our seats at the corner, far from listening ears. Sitting close to the wall offered some sort of privacy. We sat beside each other so that we could speak freely. I waited until the waiters took our orders before I spoke to him. "Let's take Julian down," I said as soon as the waiter turned away. The delivery was sudden, it nearly shook Blade but he was taking it better than I thought he would. He composed himself and smiled. "I see, I was expecting that." He rubbed the back of his neck and smiled gingerly. "There's gotta be a way to pin him to the case, to make him face the council and then we can throw him in prison for his crimes." I pushed on. Blade sighed and stared me dead in the eye. There was a different light in his eyes. "I have a plan for Julian, let me handle him." His voice was cold and low. I paused. He had also been planning all along. "You plan to take him down too?" "Yes, I do. Not after what he has done to you, you think I will just stand by and watch?" His forehead creased lightly. "But—" The waiter came back with our orders; a cup of hot coffee and a chocolate milkshake— and I had to stop. "Thank you." Blade smiled at the waiter and tipped him generously. I collected my cup, but I didn't drink from it. I waited for the waiter to leave before I asked my question. "Is it because of what happened to your father?" I asked. Blade's jaw tightened. He lifted his cup to his face and sipped twice. "Partly, but I have another reason to act. Do not worry about him. I told you, I will always be there for you..." His eyes softened and he began to lean towards me. My body froze as I realised what he was about to do but somehow I couldn't move. My heart raced and my wolf curled away as our lips finally touched. He drew back and looked at me, his eyes searching for an answer to his unspoken question. Yet, my face was unchanged, I didn't even feel anything from it. If anything at all, It felt wrong, somehow. Maybe it wasn't the right time or my heart was broken. I liked Blade, I knew I liked him but I didn't see us having anything together in the future. "I'm sorry," he apologized after seeing my unemotional reaction. I looked away, down to my cup. "Don't worry, it's not that bad." I lied. I felt bad I reacted like that, but I didn't want any romance now. "I just can't—I can't have a relationship with you—" I stuttered when I looked at his face. He looked sincerely heartbroken, like a sixteen-year-old boy's first heartbreak. "My heart is broken, Blade. I can't have a relationship with you and it will be one-sided," I explained. "I am sorry..." Julian shifted closer. "Please, why don't you give me a chance?" I clenched my jaw. I couldn't let anyone experience what I had lived through. Blade se "I'm sorry, I can't." I shook my head. Julian closed his eyes. "I understand." And it was eerily silent from there. I had to move the attention elsewhere because our meeting was turning sour. "You told me you had a plan on how to bring Julian down?" I reminded him. Julian's name left a bitter taste on my tongue. Blade blinked twice before responding. "Sorry—Sorry about that. Yes, of course, I have a plan. Now that you are joining me, I have to show it to you!" He forced a smile. "But, we will have to go back to my house. It's too open to discuss here." He drew a small circle with his fingers. "Alright, let's go," I said even though I found his countenance strange. Blade took me in his car and we drove back to his apartment in the city. The drive was uneventful and we barely talked to each other. He looked at the road the whole time while I rested my head on the window, thinking about the future. "We are here." Blade finally announced as he stopped the car and threw off his seatbelt. "Okay." I got out of the car after Blade held the door open for me. "Jeez, I'm not ninety years old." Blade chuckled and closed the doors. He led me into the building of a high-class residential building and stopped at a door. He unlocked and I walked inside. The place looked like he had not been there for a while. Doctors surely had it rough, with no time for themselves. I sat on one of the long stools and looked around. "Here." Blade pushed a board to the living room and I frowned at the detailed planning work he had put into it. "This is it. I have been going at it for a while, but it's a good one. Worth the—um, elaborate work." He smiled. I stood up to get a closer look and I turned back at him. It was very intense, the planning was intense. It made me wonder if Julian had done many other things to Blade that I didn't know of. "His guards, they are elite. I studied all their shifts but I can't sneak in on them." He pointed at a section of the board with pictures and sketches. Assassination, poison gas, poisoning, abduction you name it. All possible ways to take down Julian, this man had written it down. I should have been scared, I should have ran away from Blade then and there, but I wasn't. I ignored all the signs that Blade was a different person. I didn't care, if it was a way for me to get my hands on Julian, I will take it no matter what. If any means possible, I would take it. "I've decided that the best way to take him down, the most effective way, is to pin him to a murder case." Blade smiled. In his hands, there was a bottle of water. "Some H2O?" "Thanks." I received it and looked at the board. Something about it didn't feel right. "When you say murder, you mean kill someone?" "Yes, exactly." He nodded. My brows raised and the water paused midway. "Who comes to mind?" "Ha!" He exclaimed. "I like that. It's James or Sarah. It has to be high profile—" I lowered the bottle. "You've got to be kidding me. James? Sarah? Are you serious!" "I know, I understand, but tell you what? These two knew about it. Sarah supported it and James was among the people that took down your father. Don't forget, he assisted in the massacre of your pack." "That's extreme—" I started to say but he cut me off. "They didn't think about that when they spilled blood. They weren't bothered about it when they were killed that night. You shouldn't be bothered too. They have to pay, Laura." I closed my eyes. My father's smile came to mind. "Fine, do it. If we can get all the bastards, we can give my father some peace." Blade nodded at me. "I plan to use Sarah because she would be easier to kill." He said. Again, my core felt wrong but I ignored it. I will never forget the way she taunted me after I lost my child. "So what should I do?" He smiled at my question. "Just lure Julian to a place where the deed can be done and I will do the rest." Blade folded his arms. I was puzzled. "It's not that easy. Julian is a fucking alpha, he's strong! He will fight back even if you bring an army!" "I know." Blade walked up to the board and pointed at a diagram that was labeled 'poison'. "That's why you will call him out for a meal and you will slot this in the food. It's a drug, he will be out of his senses for a while. That's when you can take him to a cab and lead him to a location I will tell you about later. And that's all." I smiled at the plan. Blade was even more cunning than he looked. "That's a great plan." I smiled. Rage was the fuel beside my smile. "When will this happen?" "We can execute this sooner than you think. In the space of three days, it's possible.”
