CHAPTER 282
CHAPTER 282
Chapter 282
"You and Tristan?" How could you do this to me?" The tone of his voice broke Haven's heart. She shook her head as she tried to explain: it wasn't what he was thinking —or at least it wasn't entirely what he was thinking —but her lips refused to cooperate.
"Such betrayal!" His growl made her flinch. "How could you do this to me!" Lucious grew visibly angry, "HOW?!"
Haven scrambled backwards as she sucked in a sharp breath. Her lips trembled, and she swallowed hard.
"I, I," She stuttered, "Well, it's not– It's not what you think—"
"Enough!" He yanked her towards himself, and a small cry escaped her lips.
"Lucious! Haven's face squeezed as pain shot. "Stop it, you're hurting me!" She cried out. The pain in her arm was so intense, he'd break it if he continued.
"Does that hurt?" Haven yelped when he tightened his grip
"What are you doing? Let go! Let go of me!!" She screeched, and he finally let go. She hissed in pain, feeling pain shoot across her arm.
Seeing this, Lucious stopped, his eyes softened, and he ran his hands through his hair. He didn't mean to hurt her. Angry with himself and how he'd lost control, he turned away.
"I can't believe you'd do this to me, too," He said once he had calmed down a bit. His fists clenched at his sides as the image of that bastard Alpha's hand on his mate flashed across his mind.
Haven and Tristan were lovers. They were goddamned lovers!
Lucious never felt as stupid as he did right now. How couldn't he see it coming? He was never the dull one, never this foolish. From the first day they had arrived, he should have known!
From the way the bastard had been staring at his mate, he should have known!
Lucious wanted nothing more than to rip Tristan's arms out of their sockets and his head away from his body, but he wouldn't do that. At least not right now.
"Please listen to me, it's not what you're thinking. There's nothing between us, I swear." It was Haven again. She ignored the pain in her arm and tried to touch him. Her touch ignited sparks across his skin, a feeling he had always relished, but this time around, Lucious didn't know why he felt disgusted. A low growl sounded as he shoved her away. This action, though unintentional, caused her to lose her balance and crash to the ground.
"Ah!" Her cry almost made him rush to her, but he caught himself just in time. This wasn't the time to allow himself to be affected by her. Lucious had already made up his mind. It was time to let go.
"It's over."
Haven frowned. "What?"
"I'm freeing you from this relationship now." His reply made her gasp, her eyes turning as wide as saucers
"N– No" Haven's lips quivered as she got to her feet "No way, you you don't mean that—"
"I rejec—"
"STOP!!!" Haven shrieked, not wanting to hear anymore, "Just stop it!" Her blue eyes now bubbled with rage. She couldn't believe Lucious was about to reject her.
"Have you lost it?" She barked and shoved his chest. "What the fuck is wrong with you? You think you're just going to reject me while I stand here quietly, huh? Who do you think you are?" Her clenched fists slammed his chest over and over again.
"Haven," Lucious growled, grabbing her hands and putting a stop to her assault on his poor chest, "stop—"
"No, you stop!" Haven growled back as she struggled to free herself, but failed. His grip was too firm. Frustrated, she glared at him.
"I have told you," She said through gritted teeth, "There's nothing, absolutely nothing between Tristan and me, so why are you acting this way?!"
"Why?" Lucious snorted and pulled her towards himself. "You're seriously asking me why?"
"Yes!" Haven answered, "Why are you acting this way—"
"BECAUSE I LOVE YOU!!" Luscious finally admitted causing Haven's breath to cease
"What?" She blinked breathlessly, not believing her ears
"Yes," Lucious cupped her face. "Because I love you," he repeated the words he had never been able to tell her till now.
"I'm in love with you, Haven. I've been in love with you from the first day I saw you. Even though I acted like a jerk and took you hostage, I knew there was something special about you. I felt the connection, I've always been attracted to you, and I had no idea why." His thumb grazed her cheek, sending sparks running across their skin.
"And when I found out you were my mate," He continued, "my joy knew no bounds. I couldn't believe I was blessed with a mate and wanted to shower all my love on you, but that proved to be hard because of all the horrible things I did to you. I know I messed up big time, but I never stopped loving you. I loved you every day, every passing second, and with every breath I took." Tears had gathered in Haven's eyes
"You are my love, my life, and my entire universe, Haven." Lucious couldn't keep his feelings to himself anymore. "You are my everything."
Haven had almost forgotten how to breathe as she listened to Lucious' confession. She loved him, and she knew he loved her too, but listening to the man she loved confess his feelings for her brought a different type of joy.
Peace even
But this joy was short-lived when she heard his following words.
"But it's too late for all that now," She frowned as the warmth on her cheeks disappeared. She frowned even more when he moved back. "I promised to find your home and return you safely. I failed to fulfill my promise, but it seems your home found you instead."
"And so our journey ends," he said, giving her a broken smile. "Goodbye, Haven"
Haven tried to say something, but her lips felt heavy. She stood watching him walk away in a daze till it clicked.
Lucious was leaving!
Panic coursed through her veins, and without thinking, she dashed across the small yard and caught up with him.
"Wait!" She cried softly as she wrapped her arms around him. "Don't go.
Don't leave me, please." Her hands tightened.
"I love you," She whispered quietly but loud enough for Lucious to hear. He spun around with the speed of light, heart pounding against his chest.
"What did you say?" He asked, not believing his ears
Haven sniffled, her tear-filled eyes locked on his, "I love you, Lucious."
Lucious' heart skipped a beat at that moment, a smile slowly crept up his face, and he let out a breath he didn't realize he was holding. And then his mate did something he never expected. She crashed her lips on his, taking him completely by surprise. The surprise slowly melted away as he pulled her closer, kissing her back with an even bigger desire.
Haven's hand wrapped around Lucious's neck as he picked her up, and somehow, she found herself back in their room. Their lips never once lost contact as Lucious walked towards the bed. Gently, he placed her down, lips still locked and hands caressing her body gently. Thousands of sparks surged beneath their skin, fueling their desire even more.
Lucious's hand found its way to the soft mounds on Haven's chest, and he pressed, causing his mate to let out a moan. The small sound almost made him go crazy. He felt himself harden down there and pulled back immediately, not wanting to lose control, but Haven's grip stopped him.
"Let me go," Lucious' eyes fluctuated between their usual blue and gold; his wolf was begging to be let out. It wanted to claim her; it wanted to claim every single part of their mate's body. And so did he
"Now!"
"No," Haven shook her head.
"Please.." His strained voice pleaded, "Don't make me do something we'll both regret."
"And what if we won't regret?"
"Haven.." Lucious groaned and tried to pull away once more, but Haven held onto him stubbornly
"No, I want this."
Lucious eyes darkened, "Say that one more time and there'll be no stopping me."
Haven stared up at him, eyes clouded with desire. She had craved for this moment all her life.
"I want this," She repeated, "I want you, Lucious."
And that was all it took as the next second, Lucious' lips crashed down on hers, devouring them like a hungry man. Her hands nestled in his hair as she kissed back with equal passion and burning desire.
She knew, they both knew, it was going to be a long, long night.
