CHAPTER 277
Chapter 277

The next day, all of Natasha's pleas and rants for the Alpha to stay behind had fallen on deaf ears, and by the time the sun was up in the sky, Lucious and Haven had already set off for their destination.
"Where did you say we were going again?" Haven asked as she rested her head on the Alpha's shoulder. They were seated in the back of a black SUV.
"BlackMoon pack," Came Lucious' curt reply.
" And how long would it take?"
Lucious glanced at his wristwatch. "Uhmm, we should be there by tomorrow morning if everything goes well," He informed.
"Tomorrow morning?" She frowned. That means it was a whole day's journey.
"Is anything wrong?" Lucious noticed the change in her expression. Haven shook her head.
"It's nothing," She gave him a small smile and snuggled closer as he wrapped his hands around her. "You made the right decision to leave Raphael and Caleb behind."
"Raphael, yes. Caleb, not so right." Lucious frowned. "The fool told me he had a backache." Haven giggled
"What's wrong with having a backache?"
"Since when did werewolves start having backaches?" He retorted, but it was barely a murmur.
"Whatever," Haven waved him off. "Those two are always up and about, running some errand for you. They deserve some alone time with their mates."
"And me with mine," Lucious kissed her forehead, which made her smile.
"Especially Raphael and Avena," She continued, "Those two need a lot of time to themselves."
"Still no improvements in their relationship?" Lucious asked. Haven shook her head.
"Well.. nothing yet," she sighed, " hopefully, our being away will give them time to work on their relationship."
"You left Axel behind on purpose, didn't you?" Lucious held back the smile on his face.
Haven looked at him with accusing eyes. "It wasn't an easy decision, you know, I just thought he should spend some time with his father too." Her reply made Lucious chuckle, but he didn't say a word more.
Haven rolled her eyes, snuggled closer to him, and murmured a few words to herself. The ride went on, and they discussed some more. Night fell, and Haven succumbed to sleep. She wasn't a fan of traveling anyway.
A gentle shake on her shoulder, followed by the soft calling of her name, made Haven open her sleepy eyes.
"Wake up, my love," He said, "We're here already."
"Hmm?" She hummed, rubbing her sleepy eyes. It was morning already, and the car came to a stop. She watched Lucious alight from the vehicle while she stayed back to arrange her hair. She wouldn't want to meet the Alpha and Luna of this Black Moon pack looking all.. well looking like this.
The door to her side opened, and Lucious' face came into her view. "Ready?" He asked, and Haven nodded. Her hand slipped into his as he helped her out. Haven mouthed a small thank you, a big smile on her face. However, the smile on her face dropped the moment her eyes took in the sight before her.
It suddenly
Felt as though the air had been knocked right out of her, and it took all she had not to crash to the ground.
"My love?" She heard Lucious call, "Are you alright?" He noticed how pale her face turned. Because of the way she clutched her fists, her knuckles had gone extremely white, and her expression was like she had seen a ghost.
"What happened?" He asked, now worried, Haven shook her head.
"It's– it's nothing," She croaked and tried to muster a smile, but failed. "I'm– I'm f–fine." Her eyes were fixed on something all this time, and Lucious turned to see the Alpha and Luna of BloodMoon pack. They too stood just a few feet away, ready to welcome them, obviously, but the look on their faces was one of extreme shock, just like Haven's.
What was going on here?
"Are you sure you're okay?" He asked again, and Haven was quick to nod this time.
"I'm fine" Was the only thing she could say as she fought to stop the tears from falling. What could she possibly say? That he has just brought her to her very own home? Her pack? The same pack she had been kicked out of after her parents' death?
A wave of nausea hit her, and she swayed. Lucious quickly held onto her. "You're not okay," He stated.
"I am really," Haven said weakly, "Ju–just tired, I think I'm exhausted from the journey." She lied and heard him sigh in relief.
"Then you just need to rest, then, let's go in," He said softly and led the way, right to Tristan and Mika, who were waiting for them.
One would wonder who looked the most shocked between Tristan and Mika as they watched their guests approach. When they had stepped out just a few minutes ago, all ready to welcome the Supreme Alpha and his Luna, they never knew they would be in for the biggest surprise of their lives.
Right before their eyes, they had watched the supreme Luna alight from the car, and she turned out to be no one but Haven.
Mika's mouth dropped beyond repair, seeing the familiar frock of silver hair glistening in the sun. Her eyes nearly fell out of their sockets. Tristan's eyes were as wide as saucers, and shock, confusion, and disbelief swirled in them.
Haven? Were their eyes deceiving them? They would have indeed believed so if the Supreme Alpha and Haven hadn't just stopped right before them.
Tristan and Mika just gaped at them— at Haven in particular, and it was more than obvious. A slight nudge to Tristan's side by his beta snapped him out of his reverie.
"Your– your Supremeness," He managed to get out a greeting as he bowed, " Thank you so much for honoring our invitation. Wel--- welcome to our humble pack." His voice gave him away at the end. He tried his best not to look, to look anywhere but Haven, yet his eyes betrayed him. He couldn't believe it.
Haven was alive? Well, he knew that, but seeing her in flesh and bones brought a different type of shock. She was alive, and she was none other than the Luna of the Supreme Alpha?
Tristan's knees almost buckled. How was that possible? How can she be someone else's Luna?
No, maybe it wasn't Haven. It couldn't possibly be his Haven, he told himself, but as he stared into her sparkling blue eyes, Tristan knew there was no mistake. This was Haven.
The Supreme Alpha shook his hand. " The pleasure is mine. This is my mate and Luna, Haven," He introduced them. Tristan felt a sharp stab in his chest as he nodded with a forced smile," It's a pleasure finally meeting you, Luna."
Haven didn't say a word. Tristan turned to the pale Mika at his side, "And this is my.. My Luna," A lump formed in his throat. "Mika"
And then they waited for Mika to say something, but she didn't.
"Mika?" Tristan called
"Huh?" She answered in a daze and blinked, "Ah y– yes, welcome to the Black Moon pack, Alpha Lucious." She plastered the biggest smile she could muster.
"And Luna," Her lips twitched as she addressed Haven, "It's a pleasure finally meeting you," Mika said sweetly, but her mind was on nothing sweet. It took all she had not to jump at Haven and claw at her disgusting face.
How dare she show up here? And she was, Luna? Mika could only clutch her fists.
When she had met Haven back at the moon ball, she had absolutely no idea that Haven was a Luna. Was the Moon Goddess kidding her right now? What on earth was going on?
"The– the pleasure is m– mine," Haven croaked again.
"Actually, my Luna isn't well from the long journey," Lucious noticed the awkward exchange between the three, but he didn't ponder over it. He was way too worried with Haven to care about anything else." She needs to rest, show us to our rooms
" He demanded, not caring if he sounded rude.
"Ah, yes, of course." It was Mika who spoke. She exchanged glances with Tristan before saying, " Right this way," And then they walked away, leaving a still shocked Tristan watching them with a broken heart.
